Raiders wilted in the Miami heat. Dolphins 3-0. Dolphins have nice speed on the wings and a good coach.

Up to a few months ago, certain delusional right wingers were ringing the death knell for the NFL. They said the league would die due to lack of interest thanks to the Kaepernick affair. ESPN, however, reports that the ratings are up, though slightly. It will be interesting to see how those numbers change as the playoffs begin. I'll wager that the numbers will go up.

NFL Week 4 Overnights: CBS, NBC Lead Another Ratings Gain
October 1, 2018
Saints-Giants yesterday helped CBS see a 14% ratings gain for its national window Photo: GETTY IMAGES For the four traditional Sunday windows in Week 4, the NFL saw overnight ratings rise by 7%. CBS and NBC led the way with matching 12.3 ratings ...

NOS 33
NYG 18

Saints RB Alvin Kamara 134 rushing yards (47 receiving) with 3 TDs.

Wil Lutz = 4 FGs

Saints defense was supposedly ranked 30th in the league but dominated the puny Jints offense. NY cannot handle a blitz and their opponents would be wise to use one against them in every game as QB Manning is immobile and does not have a blocking FB to give him more time to make a pass. Game started out close but Jints bench strength is weak and the team weakened in the 2d half.

Oh well, mebbe next week ...

MNF: Kansas City > Denver 27-23

TV announcers continually raved on about Chiefs QB Pat Mahomes (his dad played BB for the Minnesota Twinkies years ago) who got 304 y & rushed for 1 td. RB Kareem Hunt rushed for 121 yards and 1 td.

Denver's running game was good as Royce Freeman rushed for 67 yards and 1 td, and Phillip Lindsay rushed for 69 yards and 1 td.

A very loud crowd in tonight's game which ended when a lateral failed resulting in a turnover.

Hopefully, the tv ratings for this game were good as it was a very exciting game.

Kansas City looks like the Real Deal alright...

There's an old story in pro sports that you have to be good to be "lucky". And last night Lady Luck was with the Chiefs as they got a good call in their favor which helped them seal the win:

Broncos hosed after refs miss play-clock violation to set up game-winning Patrick Mahomes TD
The Broncos defenders say the refs admitted they were wrong about the play in question

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bron ... ahomes-td/

With the Chiefs trailing 23-20 and marching down the field -- Mahomes had just completed 23-yard pass on second-and-30 and was facing a third-and-7 with just over two minutes left -- the Chiefs snapped the ball and Mahomes hit Demetrius Harris for a 35-yard pass to set up what would be the game-winning Kareem Hunt touchdown four plays later.

One problem -- the pass to Harris shouldn't have happened, because the Chiefs should have been flagged for a play-clock violation after failing to snap the ball.

Why not just put flags on them {quarterbacks}?

Good question as too many defensive players are paying a needless price for the ridiculous interpretation on the rules about tackling QBs:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... -penalties

"My question is why won't they just put flags on the QBs?" Niners cornerback Richard Sherman tweeted on Monday, though it was unclear which play or plays sparked his tweet. "They would rarely hit the ground then. Guys would be able to grab the flags and that would be a sack. Guys are losing thousands of dollars just doing their job. Something has to change."

This has always been considered a legit tackle, why change the rules all of a sudden?

As the players say, re this interpretation ""It's frustrating as hell.""

Am watching MNF online in a sports chat website. Like others who do not have cable/satellite tv, this is a good alternative though I still prefer watching the games on network tv.

Some critics of the league insist the NFL is "dying" but they fail to realize that many fans watch the games in taverns or sports bars, online, or in some other form of club or gathering. Thus, contrary to some of the myths spewed by its critics today, tv viewership is actually up, not down.

NFL continues its year-to-year gains on NBC.

Sam Darnold - the genuine ticket.

So many great young QBs and players in the League this year. Now all that crapola talk about 'NFL is dying' is gone for good.

That's year to year on NBC specifically.

After a bad first few weeks of the season, overall NFL ratings are up for the first time since 2015. But it's a modest gain. They are up 3% from last year (when the anthem protest was in full swing) but remain down 15% from 2016.

Probably a market correction. And the viewers are more caual- they are watching less of the game. And overall viewers for all live sports are down - NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR. There's simply not as many young demographics watching. That is the trend to watch, to see if it effects the business down the line.

"And the viewers are more casual- they are watching less of the game."

So are many of our expert sports talk folk, they watch the highlights and give you their expert analysis of the game/players. They really have no idea what went on in the game, can't give you an accurate description of how a team/player is looking. Hear it all the time from my favorite supposed lax guy here in Cuse. It's obvious he didn't see the game, just throws out a few minutes of general BS about the game, and there's your expert reporting.

Thank God for the NY Jints. The Iggles needed their season rescued, and a trip up 95 to the Meadowlands last night was just what the doctor ordered.

Poor Pat Shurmur...that team seems to be in serious disarray...

But that #26, what a BEAST that dude is...

In other news, what QB's are coming up in next year's draft?? Seems pretty clear that it's time for Eli to shuffle off to Canton...

Kudos to Iggles ~ Fly, Eagles Fly. Philly sure has the Jints' number. Tough game to watch last night:

http://www.espn.com/nfl/team/_/name/nyg/new-york-giants

Beckham is barking again and it is obvious that the Jints locker room is lacking the type of stability and focus needed for victory.

headbang1 rock on dis. Eli has had a great run with the jints but he is a shell of what he use to be. The jints need to do a lot of soul searching. The folks at the swamp did a lot of booing last night. They had every right to be pissed off at the product on the field. # 26 is the only bright spot in jintville right now. Beckham should worry more about how he plays than how his hair looks.
I use to be a people person until people ruined that for me.
