Am I alone in thinking that US Lacrosse Magazine's preseason poll ranking of Limestone University at #9 is way too low?

Might be a little bit low, but they did lose a bunch of offense. Unknown at goalie but the Team England guy looks legit. At least they start the year with less pressure.

I was a little surprised by the #9 but I guess with the turnover, and the new staff joining JB it’ll be interesting to see how they do they return some big pieces on defense, as well as maintain some offensive returners. I was really impressed with the HarfordCC they brought in at Lefty attack. He should be able to step in right away and produce for them. It’ll be interesting to see where they’re placed by the USILA and Coaches Poll, hopefully that gets released soon!

I think Limestone might lose one game. They have to bring their A game every night in the SAC

Limestone men’s lacrosse opens with dominating 21-5 win over Mars

The nationally sixth-ranked Limestone men's lacrosse team used a wellbalanced attack, stellar defense, and a timely 8-0 run to open things up early in the second half en route to a 21-5 win over Mars Hill University in its South Atlantic Conference debut on Saturday. Freshman attack Frank Smith led the Saints with seven points with three goals and four...

Some further notes - MHU is coached by former Limestone standout attackman and former offense assistant coach Brendan Storrier. So he knew what was coming...

Offense is young, but quite capable and fairly deep. It will be interesting to see if they can stand up in the really big games, and should be salivating about LR after seeing the once fourth best team in Conference Carolinas take LR to the wire with possession at the end that could have led to OT.

I will give credit to Mars hill even though they got their asses kicked I respect them for not giving up. I think Coach Storrier and Rhatigan will make Mars Hill competitive in the future. It will be interesting how they can recruit kids to that area.

Games to watch is great. But what I was saying is... just games. i want to be deeper into the season. i don't know these teams well enough, especially after a shortened 2020 and... I want more games so I can better assess them.

I was working on other things, so only saw the end of the game, but O was more or less missing except for a brief period before the half. Too many shots from far out, or too cute...

Given what Wingate had scored in their previous game, the D was not bad for Stone considering they were missing Stouros and Crotzer. But to go from 21 to 13 to 3 is really what lost them the game.

Not going to lie I thought Limestone was win going in I was so wrong. Limestone lost convincingly by 9 goals. Myles and Eric from LR combined half of the team goals. I guarantee they will meet LR or Wingate in the SAC playoffs.

Lenior Rhyne was missing two upper classman defenders. They were playing three true freshman at LSM and close D. Eric and Myles did account for half the points- Bryce Reece I think he had 2 goals and it did look like LS played him close to keep him from getting good looks. I bring Bryce up because he had 3 goals and 2 assist against Belmont Abbey. And many times he is the catalyst to getting a run going. But their two AA delivered - in a big way.

The game will be LR and Wingate - later in the season. I think Limestone will need to be full strength on defense to beat either LR or Wingate in the SAC tournament. Their offense is young and not that typical seasoned LS machine.

In a shocking upset, Limestone falls at home against Newberry, 13-7. Does Limestone fall out of the top 20 with the loss?

Or maybe just hang on to the #20 spot. Game was a bit closer than the final score as essentially once it got to 11-7, Stone was pulling the goalie (second string goalie as the starter was injured in the game) to be able to double team Newberry to attempt to take the ball away.

Newberry has a lot of offense, and my initial KRACH calculation has them in the top 20. I still have to do some checks on that but they are a legitimate team this year. Their D has been the issue, but they found a way to win both faceoffs (2/3 roughly) and the GB battle (by about 15).

Stone still has not figured out how to score on more stout Ds. Ball handling still an issue as well - that should be fixed by this time of the year...

I would put them maybe at 20. But they probably fall out. Limestone has a disappointing season, to say the least. They need to win out I think if they want to keep their place to compete in SAC Tourney. It's the first 4 teams correct for the SAC tournament?

They need at least the #4 spot to host a home quarterfinal, with seeds #1, #2 getting byes to semis (last two games at LR this year).

1. Lenoir-Rhyne 6-0 8-0
2. Wingate 6-1 8-1
3. Queens 5-1 5-3
4. Limestone 4-3 5-3
5. Newberry 3-3 4-4
Catawba 3-3 4-5
Potential LImestone vs LR matchup again?
