2019 Patriot League
Re: 2019 Patriot League
21-1 at a chilly Ridley tonight....cant believe that was much fun for either team. Good thing, no one got hurt
Re: 2019 Patriot League
Embarrassing performance from The Bison. Period.
Navy was up 15-3 at half vs American yday. Rather than quit, American put in 7 second half goals.
BU was up 11-3 at half vs HC yday. Rather than quit, HC put in 11 second half goals.
Loyola was up 14-1 at half vs Bucknell yday. Bucknell put in ZERO second half goals. It would seem that they quit.
Something is rotten in the state of Lewisburg.
If we need that extra push over the cliff, ya know what we do...eleven, exactly.
Re: 2019 Patriot League
Suffocating defense was most of the issue...bad shots didnt help. I think the median player is just better at Loyola now....Nigel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:30 pmEmbarrassing performance from The Bison. Period.

So BU/Navy could be the game for 2nd on the 25th, assuming BU takes care of Army.
Re: 2019 Patriot League
Kudos to Army for their quality week - wins over Colgate and BU. It looks like they've set themselves up to finish no worse than #4 but stand a good chance to finish #3.
Unofficially it looks like the only secure playoff spots are Loyola at #1 and Colgate at #5. Navy, BU and Army will fight it out for spots 2/3/4 and it looks like Navy CANNOT fall to #4 and Army CANNOT get up to #2.
The #6 spot is up for grabs between Lehigh, American, and Bucknell (nice to see Bucknell rebound competitively from the Loyola fiasco). A Bucknell win over Army and an American win over Lehigh will put all at 3-6 and into the tiebreaker thing. Too tired to figure out the what-ifs so let's just see how the Thursday Bucknell @ Army game goes. It's quite possible an Army win there will make the American @ Lehigh game a play-in game which would be great.
Sorry HC, I'm not even gonna consider your playoff chances since Loyola is your next opponent.
Patriot League's final week begins on Thursday afternoon.
THURSDAY 4.25.19 WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Navy Boston University Conference Game 4 PM Boston, Mass.
Bucknell Army West Point Conference Game 4 p.m. West Point, N.Y.

Re: 2019 Patriot League
With Navy edging BU today, and Army marching all over Bucknell (see what I did there?) we have most of the playoff picture set.
1 Loyola 8-0 (first round bye, host of semis and final)
2 Navy 8-1 (first round bye)
3 Army 6-3 (host #6 on Sunday)
4 Boston 6-3 (host Colgate on Sunday)
5 Colgate 4-4 (@ Lafayette trow)
6 TBD (Lehigh 3-5, American 2-6)
Bucknell (2-7) was eliminated with their loss today. Lafayette (1-7) was already eliminated.
Upon further review Holy Cross (2-6) was also already eliminated due to losses against both American and Lehigh (they're out in a 3-way tiebreak @ 3-6 (but they'll finish 2-7 anyway)).
So the Lehigh-American game is essentially a play-in game. It's simple; Lehigh wins trow and they're 4-5 with no tiebreak to move up to #5, American wins and they're 3-6 and own the H2H tiebreak with Lehigh. The reward is a trip to West Point.
It should be noted that this game has been moved up in time, maybe due to weather, maybe to avoid a conflict with the 5 pm ACC game!

Re: 2019 Patriot League
League playoffs start today after Lehigh completed their late season run (spanking American 20-3) to get the #6 spot.
SUNDAY 4.28.19
Colgate Boston University 1 p.m. Boston, Mass.
Lehigh Army West Point 1 p.m. West Point, N.Y
Not sure if Colgate can handle BU's pace. Their first meeting was 17-12 in BU's favor and they raced out to a pretty substantial halftime lead which was their mojo for most of the season. Draw control is a strength as well. Colgate will need to play a complete, clean, patient game (IMO) to get the win. In other words, they'll need that extra push over the cliff, ya know to get to eleven, exactly. BU looks to end a two game slide but they have home field here and beat Colgate last year in this same game (in Hamilton).
Lehigh comes in firing on all cylinders today after winning 4 straight games. The end of season schedule was in their favor but they're here and confidence has got to be high. Army has also been playing very well (three straight wins) and is the host today. Their defense has been stout and they have 2-3 big guns who have been completing the mission . Army got the win (15-13) in the first match-up with a strong second half after trailing by two at the half.
Games will be streamed on Patriot League Network. https://watchstadium.com/network/patrio ... e-network/

Re: 2019 Patriot League
Congrats to both Colgate and Army for their quarterfinal victories last Sunday. It was Colgate 14-13 over BU while Army took out Lehigh 12-9.
The Raiders were beaten at the draw circle 24-5 but managed to go up early, regain the lead at half, and then widen the lead thru the 2H before BU closed the deficit. However Colgate never cracked and the defense and GK held, even stopping a FPS with 1.30ish left, and then they ran out the clock upon gaining possession. It was a Raider dogpile in the Terrier's endzone!
At West Point, Army relied on their two big guns, #21 Raymond and #28 Brattan, to lead the way over the resurgent Lehigh squad. The Black Knights broke the halftime tie with 4 straight goals and then relied on their defense to lock it down. A typical meat and potatoes effort from Army as they led in shots, gbs, and draw controls (and 'precision strikes').
Next up are the semis from Ridley @ Loyola. Regular season scores were Loyola beating up on Colgate 18-9 while Navy throttled Army 21-8. Hopefully these games will be more competitive. Game 1 temps are supposed to be 80s, dropping to 70s for game 2. Hydrate!
THURSDAY 5.2.19
Colgate Loyola 5 p.m. Baltimore, Md.
Army Navy 8 p.m. Baltimore, Md.

Thx Dr Tact - I was on the road with limited tech abilities over the past two days.
Semis - Too much offense from Loyola and Navy on Thursday but fine seasons for both Colgate and Army. Will be interesting to see the direction Colgate takes with the coaching situation.
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
SATURDAY 5.4.19 WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Navy v Loyola Start - Noon @ Baltimore, Md. TV: CBS Sports Network
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – No. 1 seed Loyola Maryland and second-seeded Navy advanced to the Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game on Saturday at noon at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore. The Greyhounds and Midshipmen will meet for the League title for the fifth-consecutive season. The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
Saturday’s Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game will feature a pair of top-20 programs with Loyola Maryland ranked No. 11 in the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse Women’s Poll. Navy is No. 14 in the IWLCA and No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse Women’s Poll. The Greyhounds and Midshipmen have split their four championship game meetings, all having taken place at Loyola Maryland’s home Ridley Athletic Complex.
Captain Obvious says that there should be a real battle at the draw circle today between Van Thof and Roelofs. Both girls usually have success.
