Big win for Stoga over EA (9-5) which looks even stronger given that EA only lost to McDonogh 9-8, at McD.

And ABC beat McDonogh. And it's still March. And Jersey doesn't begin until Monday.

Edit: Don't know where I got the info that ABC beat McD. Evidently not true. Can't find a record of a game between the two teams.

Very frustrating for those of us in Jersey. I’ve been to six scrimmages, but no games yet. Ugh.

Big games Saturday -- Spring Fling in Alexandria, Va. and Darien-Manhasset on Long Island.

Who you got?

Darien 18 Manhasset 5 Final.

From what I heard, Darien is one of the best HS teams in the past 5-10 years. This is not an indictment of Manhasset prospects for this season, Humphrey and company are THAT good.

I’m surprised by that margin. Did Chloe Humphrey play? Heard she’s been injured.

Next week Darien takes on New Jersey’s best, Summit.

Really hope Darien’s April 15 match up against Maryland’s St. Paul’s School for Girls will be streamed.

One of the best in the last 5 to 10 years? Let’s see how the season plays out first. If they run the table, including beating St. Paul’s and getting past long-time rival New Canaan, maybe they should be in the conversation.

Humphrey played, and my source was super impressed with her. Maybe not past 10 years, but of the past 3-5, certainly. St Paul's will be a test, although they were pushed to the limit by a Maryvale Prep team, that I didn't think that would come that close.

Very glad to hear she played. She is an exquisite talent. I’ve had the chance to see her several times in the past few years. Definitely the real deal.

The fact that St. Pauls may have been tested in a league game isn’t necessarily significant. Even in McDonogh’s heyday, they usually had a couple of close games in their conference each year, especially in the league championship game.

Darien 9 Sacred Heart Greenwich 8 Final.

Darien was losing for much of the 2nd half, Humphrey scored with :07 left to win it. Darien Goalie made a big stop with :02 left to seal it. Sacred Heart Greenwich is an interesting team. They always challenge themselves strongly in the non-conference and RARELY ever get beat badly.

McDonogh beat St. Paul's today 10-9.

May take a little luster off next week's St. Paul's v. Darien game.

And ABC beat McDonogh. And AIS beat ABC.

Round and round we go.

Darien 14 Summit 8. 6-4 Darien at half. Humphrey with 6 goals.

Summit is NJ's best team this year. Last year Darien beat Ridgewood and Moorestown.

No, I watched most of the second-half online.

Here is a link to the full game video. I’ll watch the rest of the game later.

https://www.google.com/search?q=daf+med ... eP7aXyCGlA

Darien is very good. I saw Summit a week ago in a scrimmage. In the part of the game I saw today, I was very impressed with Darien’s defense and their play on the draw. You expect them to have a good offense, and they do, but their defense gave Summit, which has a very good offense, problems. Darien pulled their starters for a bit in the second half. Summit started pouring in goals. Darien then reinserted their starters.

I’m really hoping that the game next Saturday between Darien and SPSG will be available online. It will be the biggest interregional, national level game in quite a while. McDonogh going up to Manhasset in 2019 was a really big game. First time the Eagles had gone up to the Island.

I’m hoping to get up to at least some of the games at the GfB in a couple of weeks. Great slate of teams this year.

Edit: The SPSG v. Darien game next week will be carried by DAF Media. I think it will be streamed live and that they will post a link afterwards. Google "DAF Media Darien" and that should get you headed to the right place. This is a Darien HS student production which is very good quality.
