One would've thought an Upstate NYer would get the job? Good opportunity for Coach March to make a name for himself and potentially succeed JD?? Had to laugh at a few of the comments re: "fast paced style" and "will score a lot of goals" SU was always known for that in my day, now they're are like the rest...quick hitter if it's there, if not, wind the shot clock down.

Easy to run and gun when you've got an All-American or two at every position....

Top 10 offense at Princeton without the benefit of a dominant FOGO. A really good coach. Players will like playing for him. Best of luck to Coach March and the Orange. I am sure old #22 weighed in.

But with the benefit of a Sowers...

Nothing against the guy, just surprised SU went with someone outside the program.

He also ran very good offense at Vermont. Good luck. SU will be fine.

I get that it would be nice to have a Syracuse guy, because the program has always been about family, but getting someone with roots outside CNY makes a LOT of sense to me from a recruiting perspective. CNY High School lacrosse is not what it used to be. The last time SU won the NC, they had guys from CNY who won the Empire State Games gold medal, like Nims, Hardy and Abbott. If they kept playing the ESG, CNY would never win. In fact, they may be behind both LI and Western consistently, and struggle with HV. In the reincarnations of the ESG that happen occasionally, LI gets split up by county to make it more competitive.

Also, SU already has coaches with deep CNY roots. A former Syracuse player with roots somewhere else, might've been the ideal candidate, if any of them had the coaching chops that March has, but March sounds like he's been successful at all of his stops. I'm very much looking forward to what the team looks like in the spring.
