"Who are MAGA supporters, and what do they believe in? In these figures, we elaborate on these questions. As the results make clear, they’re not a terribly diverse group: at least 60 percent of them are White, Christian and male. Further, around half are retired, over 65 years of age, and earn at least $50K per year. Finally, roughly 30 percent have at least a college degree. That MAGA supporters are older, Christian, men, more than half of whom are retired, comports with the now-familiar images of the Capitol riots. What may seem a bit surprising is that about half are middle-class by income, and almost 1/3 are middle-class by educational criteria."

Yes, and if you needed any confirmation on the ground of this, note all of the relatively normal GOP congressman and Senators leaving office, and the increasing numbers of new crazies in the House in particular (Donalds, Luna, Mace, etc.) joining the relatively old crazies in the House (Gosar, Biggs, Perry, Jordan, Comer, Greene, Gaetz, "Blow"bert, etc.). The district:
Ohio’s 4th Congressional District.
How is it gerrymandered?
“Ohio’s duck” is one of the longest, most convoluted districts in the state. It stretches into Lorain, Huron, and Erie through another 11 counties to get near the Indiana border. And it goes just far enough north to include Oberlin, likely the most liberal community in Ohio.
That’s no accident: State Republicans in control of the 2011 redistricting process did it on purpose, ensuring Oberlin’s likely Democratic voters would be buried in an otherwise-conservative district. OH-4 is specifically designed to slice up communities, diminish Democratic voters, and ensure GOP dominance.
So who represents OH-4?
Rep. Jim Jordan, Tea Party leader and one of the most conservative members of Congress. He votes with President Trump 85% of the time and doesn’t have to answer for extreme positions, given that he’s protected by a gerrymandered district.
Here’s just a sampling of his actions in Congress:
Defending the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 Census
Warning pharmaceutical companies about oversight investigations Supporting Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris accords that enlist nearly every country to combat climate change Voting against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act It’s almost as if he’s running to the extreme on purpose to fend off a primary challenge in his district.
What can we do?
Here’s the good news: Ohio, like every state nationwide, will draw new districts in 2021 — after the critical 2020 Census. We need to make sure that: 1) We have a fair and accurate 2020 Census, and 2) Ohio and other states engage their communities to ensure a fair, transparent process to draw impartial districts.
All On The Line is leading the way on both fronts. We’re going to support citizens whose voices aren’t being adequately represented by Jim Jordan and other extreme reps like him. We hope you’ll join the team: https://allontheline.org/.
Thanks,
Team All On The Line

What is it that republiCONs don't get about public health?
An Amish farmer, small businessman, is having a conflict with the FDA. Pennsylvania republiCONs have made him a cause celeb because he is "standing up" to big government regulation, its all about FREEDUMB! The farmer is selling his product, milk, into a limit distribution system specifically allowed / designed for small businesses by the FDA. His milk has been associated with the current E.Coli outbreak among dairy products.
But yet he is a hero to republiCONs, he is absolutely right to not cooperate with the FDA. What is wrong with you people??

F'ing commies. Protip: if you want to be outside of FDA rules? Don't freaking sell your stuff to the public. Or? Lobby to change the rules. Problem solved.
I LOVE this game Republicans play where they're convinced it makes perfect sense to let one guy ignore laws and regulations. F the rest of us, apparently.
If you guys REALLY want government off businesses backs? Great F'ing news: get off yer *sses and pass laws for ALL businesses that lets them do what they want, instead of playing this constant game of picking winners and losers.

Their classic fellowship church has moved by demand from the twice Sunday and Wednesday night services to just Sunday morning with soft rock live music the choice over the spinster led organ, much to the chagrin of the old-timers. She is currently in the process of getting divorced from her retired Kentucky state trooper now working as a marshal in federal court. He’s deep into the MAGA movement and has probably, through conservative media, blown through all his money by buying bogus cryptocurrency that he now finds himself unable to access, even when he submits a $2,500 fee. He’s deep in debt and he keeps buying!

i think it's always been there and will continue to be. Just hoping that as far as such a direct impact on our politics goes, the effect will wipe off when Fatso gets wiped off. By age or jail. Or continuing to lose Bigly. After that, hopefully they go back under the (political) rocks they crawled out from under.
MAGA has lived by the Lie these past few years, and i think it will die by the Big Lie.

No reason not to take him seriously. It isn't just Trump; mainstream GOP is just creepy and seditious.
Anyone seen any demographic analysis of the Magat Nation?
This is NOT going away. It's going to persist, and get worse.
For once the paucity of my cohort, GenX, is a positive…
Their classic fellowship church has moved by demand from the twice Sunday and Wednesday night services to just Sunday morning with soft rock live music the choice over the spinster led organ, much to the chagrin of the old-timers. She is currently in the process of getting divorced from her retired Kentucky state trooper now working as a marshal in federal court. He’s deep into the MAGA movement and has probably, through conservative media, blown through all his money by buying bogus cryptocurrency that he now finds himself unable to access, even when he submits a $2,500 fee. He’s deep in debt and he keeps buying!
"There is nothing more difficult and more dangerous to carry through than initiating changes. One makes enemies of those who prospered under the old order, and only lukewarm support from those who would prosper under the new."

... I agree that a lack of truth on the part of MAGA will contribute to its demise.dislaxxic wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 3:14 pmi think it's always been there and will continue to be.

Matt Schlapp doesn't like people pointing at the NAZIS at CPAC.
Saw George Santos on a interview yesterday. Couldn't understand why anyone would be interested in anything he had to say. Turns out, the interview was to allow him to bad mouth CPAC. He claims it is dead, attendance way down, only the craziest of the crazy now attend.
PS: If you read the article and "X" tweets (images), it is pretty clear National Harbor (the venue) was visited by a gaggle of ultra right wing individuals generally referred to as Nazis, white supremacists, etc. This was confirmed by multiple reporters at the conference and "X" users familiar with images of the individuals in question. One of the individuals is apparently still on the FBI Jan 6 wanted list.

Re: Conservative Ideology: The Big Lie
Is the " big lie" only a republican thing? Are we suppose to believe that Democrats are the only party telling the truth? Hell, neither party would comprehend what the truth is if it walked up behind them and bit them in the ass. The truth is as simple as this...power is the money and money is the power.
I use to be a people person until people ruined that for me.
