Sal the Barber was awesome.

Roman Gabriel belonged to our local club, Radley Run when he was with the Eagles.

RIP Whitey Herzog.

Paul Auster has died of lung cancer. He was fair well regarded here but was revered in France, where he lived for a while, and kind of a cult hero in Spain.

Incredibly creative artist. But Patron Saint of Brooklyn as alleged by the NY Times? Gee, dunno about that.

Few did more to encourage a new generation to take up the guitar, not least because he made it sound simple

Another one of my 1960s heroes has passed on ~ Aaron Thomas:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/ ... 4a7b&ei=65

Thomas played 116 regular-season games for the Giants between 1962 and 1970. He ranks 17th in franchise history with 254 receptions, 14th with 4,253 yards and is tied for sixth with 35 touchdown catches. He missed only seven games in his career because of injury.

“He’s almost like the early version of (Kansas City Chiefs tight end) Travis Kelce,” his son, Robb Thomas, who played a decade in the league, told the team's website. "He was a tight end and flanker, but he really ran good routes and had a good feel about getting into open space.”

Sammy Teusch’s radiant smile lit up the screen Wednesday morning at Brandywine Community Church, as hundreds gathered to say goodbye to the 10-year-old boy the community has embraced as their own.

The Greenfield fourth-grader reportedly took his own life May 5, which his parents say was the result of relentless bullying, but the message at his funeral was one of hope and love.

Am not sure but, I believe this started the genre of post Apocalyptic movies that became, and remain, popular to this day. Since then there have been so many movies in which the setting is a waste land where the conflict is endless. You have to wonder, where do people get their food, water, and medicine from with the land laid waste so badly (???).

Gonna have to put this movie on my watch list as Corman's movies are enjoying a revival. Further, his works are now being re-evaluated with reviews being far more positive than they were in the past.

To go along with his lone 500 victory, pair of 500 poles and race ROY honors, Jones also amassed six USAC Indy victories and 12 USAC Indy poles in 59 starts. He'd also go on to win, among other things, 25 USA National Sprint Car features, 25 USAC National Midget Features, one USAC Midwest Sprint Car title, two USAC National Sprint Car titles, one USAC Stock Car title, 22 NASCAR West Coast Stock Car races, a pair of victories in both Baja 500 off-road and Baja 1000 off-road and four NASCAR Cup races in 34 starts.

Amazing how many different types of racing he did during his great career:

Was quite a sports hero to me back in the day.
