Too many turnovers today. Tough loss for the Generals. Too many First Years on the field, at the same time. I don't remember McCabe ever playing this many First Years in a season. The Generals are banged up and missing some key starters, but why not play some of your experienced Seniors and Juniors? The First Year D-mid and LSM have been getting beat a lot this season, yet McCabe keeps playing them. The First Year goalie is below 50% and is still the starter. The only First Year that has proven he belongs is Spano, he has had a great year. Maybe the more experienced players would have handled the pressure of this playoff game. Yes, all this playing time is vital experience for all the First Years, but you sacrificed this season, which was very promising. Congrats to Alex Brown on breaking the single-season goal record. Hopefully, this team has a few more games this season and maybe McCabe plays some more of his veterans.

Take a look at those turnovers and let us know what % were first years. Sorry you’re so upset your kid doesn’t play. He’s gonna be ok.

The issue is not upperclassmen vs underclassmen. The issue is the offensive midfield. They are not playmakers and force too many bad shots and turn the ball over too much. The young players are very good and this team is positioned to contend for a natty in a year or two.

I saw on social media that Ted Bauer spoke to the team during this alumni weekend. What a special moment to hear from arguably the best to ever do it in a Generals uniform. There are so many special players and coaches that have come through this program. I hope that despite a disappointing loss last week the young men realize what a special program and school they are a part of. Maybe Ted can inspire a playoff run over the coming weeks!

Not Mendoza. Just an alum who follows the team. Call ‘em like I see ‘em. The defense has been very solid this season. Offense is where the team struggles. Hopefully some of the injured O-mids get back on the field for the tourney. They need a spark on that end of the field to make a deep run.

That Bauer and Lichtfuss team never had a problem scoring and Skeet did not let in many cheapies. Emmer was an incredible coach!!!

This is exactly what I was thinking. Teddy B. does not come back to Lex much so him being there, and speaking to the team was a great day in W&Lacrosse.

Those were the best times in my life to see that 1974 team play. It was very hard to see them lose to Hop after being up 10-7 in the 4th. Of course, us old timers still think we got robbed at Homewood Field, with Franz W. in the crease no calls but those teams were awesome. Will never forget being at Scott Stadium when we played UVA that year, against Rodney Rullman, in front of over 10,000 fans, and 2/3 of the fans were W&L fans. Big 13-11 win over the Hoos. Still the largest crowd ever to see a lax game in the state of Virginia. If W&L had been seeded correctly in the NCAAs that year (were ranked 2nd but seeded 3rd, giving Hop the home field), and ended up playing Hop in Lexington, preparations were underway to bring in extra bleachers to allow for upwards of 12,000. That would have been an awesome day in LexVegas.

Attached is game day from 1975 showing W&L vs UVA crowd in 1974, W&L side. That is Jack Dudley "Duds" scoring on Rullman.

Nah man, making excuses for the defensive miscues ain’t it. Giving the playing time in crucial points to underclassmen was a huge issue.

You on your first ever post did the same thing he did on here all last year. I call it like I see it.

This was a long time ago, but back in the day, Washington & Lee was very good in college football, and did have big crowds in Lexington. See attached. This size crowd was what was planned if Hopkins had been in Lex for the 1974 NCAA lacrosse semifinals.
