Two bad teams last night with someone having to win. Navy goalie won the game as Loyola keep settling for bad outside shots. Navy can win every FO with Lehigh but if they turn the ball over 20 plus times it will not matter. And don’t think amplo will get to yell and scream at the refs like he does at home vs WP. He should have been flagged in the last to games. The Orfling wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 6:31 am Great win for the Mids. Navy had the answer all night long. Many teams right now would be delighted to have the combination of Hayashi at FOGO and Daly in goal. Now, if they can just cut down on those turnovers . . .

On to Army to meet Lehigh. I say the Mids get it done this time.
Re: Navy 2024
Even with the number of graduating Navy seniors, it's encouraging to project the 2025 rosters for Loyola, BU, Army & Lehigh after they lose all their 5th yr & seniors. Navy, Colgate & Bucknell return a lot of experienced & proven players for '25..
It will be interesting to see if any PL teams attract any transfers for 2025.

9 did well on MF1 this year. Just based on who's returning, could go with (based solely on most game experience, to date)youthathletics wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 9:30 pmAttack will be interesting….with 10 and 9 returning….two lefties, who’s the righty….14? 4 is also a lefty.old salt wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 5:44 pmEven with the number of graduating Navy seniors, it's encouraging to project the 2025 rosters for Loyola, BU, Army & Lehigh after they lose all their 5th yr & seniors. Re: Navy 2024
Mid 3rd quarter and #1 is already the MVP. 28 and 24 to’s and 26 shooting from a millions yards out is showing signs of frustration and stress.
26 getting smoked on goal 6 by Lehigh with their motion offense.
It’s like our SSDM’s are taught to swing stick as their first move and now we seem to have forgotten what to do when we get picked.

In 3rd qtr Lehigh is moving the ball around on 6x6 like they are up a man. And Navy cannot seem to even get it around the horn without a TO.
C’mon Navy!

….Agreed. 24 pass to 2 over is head near end of 3rd. 4 TO’s in last 5-6 O possessions.

Self inflicted doesn’t help. Another TO from 2 —> 10

Re: Navy 2024
Laid an egg last night, what a bummer. Felt like the league was up for the taking this year with Army underachieving. Talent wise we could have been the best group.
Lehigh seems to just be our kyptonite.

Re: Navy 2024
Navy has been largely uncompetitive since Richie Meade got them to the championship vs Syracuse and lost in OT. Hired and fired HCs since don't seem to make a difference. Navy just doesn't have a killer instinct. Goes deeper than coaching. And not just in lax.
Re: Navy 2024
Not necessarily. I wouldn’t call making it to within a goal of the final four in 2016 uncompetitive. You can group both Navy and Army together in that statement. They’ve been about the same from that year in 2004 and onward. That’s just being realistic nowadays, nothing to do with a killer instinct.SQZ7233 wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 10:59 pm Navy has been largely uncompetitive since Richie Meade got them to the championship vs Syracuse and lost in OT. Frustrating part for Navy is they are trending in the wrong direction. Ever since 2016 - it hasn’t been working.
Re: Navy 2024
Maybe they should have hired from within??
Re: Navy 2024
2004 was a special year for a special team. First year in the PL + a top tier OOC sched (which can no longer be replicated).Abr2016 wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 11:10 pmNot necessarily. 2004 wasn't just a 1 year flash in the pan. It was the first of 6 straight NCAA appearances for Navy.
I do agree Navy's not been a top tier team since Richie was forced out....for numerous reasons.
The sport has grown & changed significantly since then. There's more & better competition, none of which favors the service academies.
Army has yet to put together a run like Navy 2004-2009. There's not that much difference between Army & Navy, especially going forward with no more future 5th year players for Army. Nor has Army dominated Navy the way Navy dominate Army under Richie.
