After today, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Drexel, and Monmouth are all 2-4 in conference play:
Hofstra has beaten Monmouth, but they lost to Drexel. They play Stony Brook next week.
Drexel has beaten Hofstra, but they lost to Stony Brook. They play Monmouth next week.

The above said, if Hofstra beats Stony Brook, what needs to happen for them to earn a spot in the conference tournament?

I believe Monmouth and Stony brook win then Monmouth gets in. I could be wrong. It seems like it can get confusing. Kevin Ellington over 70% in saves today again,
Ellington is number one in DI.

Re: CAA 2024
It's funny (and sad, actually) that the four teams fighting to make the CAA tournament are all 2-4 and playing each other next weekend:
Drexel @ Monmouth
Hofstra @ Stony Brook
Here's another way to look at the scenarios for fourth place:
If Hofstra and Monmouth win, then Hofstra gets in because Hofstra beat Monmouth.
If Hofstra and Drexel win, then Drexel gets in because Drexel beat Hofstra.
If Stony Brook and Monmouth win, then Monmouth gets in because Monmouth beat Stony Brook.
If Stony Brook and Drexel win, then Stony Brook gets in because Stony Brook beat Drexel.
Who will get in? Flip a coin ... or two.

All well and good,
but Tigers Hens playing well above the other teams.
but Tigers Hens playing well above the other teams.
Re: CAA 2024
Hens are looking okay but are very young and are limping into the playoffs with key injuries. Losing Joe Speers in the second quarter last week against Stony Brook was a killer. Against Drexel it didn’t matter but against better teams they’ll need two strong LSMs. Patrick Gillin has been awesome at LSM. Coach DeLuca has been rotating Donny Gayhardt, Nick Cowen and Rowan Marsell in the second rope unit.
Also, the Hens are thin at offensive midfield after losing Jason Kolar in week 3 and Drew Lenkaitis the whole year. The Acchione twins, Brendan Powers have picked up the slack and have been very consistent. I think they’ll need to get more production from Jessen, Owings and D’Ambrogi if they want to make a run. Particularly with the weather heating up.
We shall see. A team that is led by two historic attackman is suddenly leaning on its impenetrable defense and ridiculously hot goaltender. Ellington now leads all D 1 lacrosse in save percentage (.615) and has gone 88%, 71%, 64% and 74% the last four games.

Re: CAA 2024
True, but they're already in the tournament and not playing to host. That role goes to TU this year. The interest next weekend is who else makes the fray. And don't overlook Fairfield. They're sitting quietly at #3 and could win it all.
Re: CAA 2024
I'm just looking at who can beat one of the seeded teams.
All beatable, BTW.
But right now, it would look like Hens or Tigers versus a 3, 4, 5 seed - so a Hopkins, UVA, Pios -- all definitely beatable teams.
Its not the on-steroids, Covid-boosted teams of a couple years ago (or maybe even last year).

Re: CAA 2024
The set up for these two games is a bit funny because on Saturday one team will be playing for the post-season and the other will clearly be playing to spoil it/finish on a win. Basically, "we're going to beat you so neither of us makes the playoffs".

Re: CAA 2024
It could be a viable draw for Towson or Delaware. They have the records/RPI to be ahead of MAAC, A-Sun, and America East winner. In the mix with likely A-10 winners. They might catch the 4 seed in the NCAA first round.10stone5 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 12:34 pm I'm just looking at who can beat one of the seeded teams.

Ellington has been super hot in goal for Hens.
Tigers have the offense which can hang with these teams.
None of the top seeds are anything like those from a couple years back, and the Hens beat one of those supposed super teams in a 1st round upset.

Nick DeMaio passes San Ramon Valley's (NorCal) Austin French for the 2nd most Division I points by a California prep grad.
He trails only his brother, Anthony. Two of the best to come out of the California prep system.

COME ON MONMOUTH LETS SEE WHAT U GOT VS DREXEL!!
Re: CAA 2024
I’ve got Monmouth over Drexel.
Tigers - Hens,
surprised at that probability spread, I’d have expected closer.
