I'm not following your last post, youth, though lots of good advice!

Personally, I'm interested in news and opinion that's not intentional misinformation or disinformation, and I'm interested in various perspectives on agreed upon facts. Differences of viewpoint can be quite interesting. Civil discussion can be illuminating, and I've numerous times found my opinions to shift a bit based on logic and facts that challenge some prior view.

Ok to speculate on the unknown, but with the caveat that facts once known DO matter.

Those who refuse to address facts are really not worth the bother of a discussion on here. Personally I prefer civility, but at some point fellow posters prove themselves to be trolls or such hard heads or fully out to lunch that it's best to ignore.

Most posters on here, however, generally behave in good faith and at least some civility...a very few do not. Joshing each other being a far cry from screeds or obvious trolling.

In real life, of course, we need to go even further in behaving civilly, listening more than we speak, as relationships have value beyond the discussion...it is very painful when someone in real life doesn't value the relationship enough to behave civilly. I will say that I haven't previously seen in my 66 years anything remotely like the number of people who were 'friends' seemingly suddenly become so willing to toss relationships aside. Perhaps this was the case during the Vietnam war, civil rights, women's lib, etc as the country certainly became loudly angry during that period...but most of that I experienced before the age of 18.

I try, at least most of the time, to think of these interactions as closer to real life than some anonymous internet fight.

I'm not sure if that's responsive or not to your last post, but if I'm off the mark, sorry.
