I am headed back in August for the Olympics and then some time in the South of France with friends this Summer. Also sent this just this morning to a friend that I encouraged to take a solo trip next Fall….

We spent 10 days in Paris summer of 2022, culminating in marriage of our niece, my wife's namesake who lives in the town of Versailles. Stayed in another cousin's (my dad's side) apartment in the 7th, along with our son, with daily excursions to the various museums etc, one major excursion per day, no rushing, bracketed by eating and drinking... My wife was back this past summer with her sister to see the newborn of that couple. Early Fall looks like perfect time for a future visit...that apt is being rented for the month for the Olympics at a crazy high rate, walking distance to some venues and multiple metro lines. That's one of the things that makes Paris terrific, so easy and quick to get around...our son had an app that directed through all the tunnels, time of correct trains, etc...we just followed him!

We may have been there at the same time in 2022. I took a day to spend with my daughter in Versailles. My wife and son had taken a day trip together in 2014. We stayed in the 12th that year. It was nice. Away from the sites but close to subway line which also went to the airport. In 2022 we stayed in the 5th at my friend’s apartment. Next Summer we are in a hotel a few blocks from my friend’s apartment in the 5th again and the rate is 3x normal and it’s a deal compared to many other places. I saw some apartments renting for $5-6k a night during the Olympics. I was willing to pay up but not that much.
