MIAA "A" Conference 2024

Post by Slim »

New thread...how is 2024 shaping up?

McD has to be the #1 with all the horses they have back. Could they match CH's 3-peat?

Who and how many boarding recruits is IMG North (BL) bringing in?

What is the prognosis for Haus at LB? Hoeckel at AS?

Who are the other upstart contenders? CH, LB, Sp, StM?

Who are the pretenders? Sev, Gil, AS?

How will MSJ and JC improve?

Just curious as to what folks think...

Crickets on this thread...

Anybody hearing any news on conference schools? Who might be coming into the boarding schools and conference front-runners; BL & McD? Any transfers? New coaching staff additions? JC hc search?

How do you think the league will shake out next spring? Any takers?

I like the new news.
I'm watching for the hire at JC and to see how the new coaches at LB and Spalding do.

Any hints or rumors about the JC hire?
How is Hockel running things at Spalding?
Haas at Loyola?
Any big differences or programmatic philosophy changes a-coming?
Any word on the fall NHSLS?

JC has their man. News upcoming. MIAA alum and NCAA AA.
Haus making a good impression at LB. He has a lot to work with and figuring out staff.

JC parents and players are anxious for head coach news. The position opening is still posted on JC website.

Slim - how much do you trust your claim is accurate? Do you consider your source a reliable one?

The style these days in the league is to hire a young guy or name who can learn and won't rock the boat, and cross your fingers.

It still comes down to school financial support. JC will be successful if the president actually supports the program. If he doesn't, they will continue to get the same results.

Gunnar Waldt could prove to be a great hire for John Carroll. One note is that, while at Bryant, he got plenty of experience playing against major DI programs with much more talent. And, he had some good moments against such programs. Could we see deja vu at John Carroll?

Terrific goalie!

If he's as good a coach and leader of youngsters could be fun to see John Carroll develop.

Congrats to Jaden Riley, a '25 A/M from The John Carroll School. He is headed to Towson University.

Anyone on here who is currently actively following these teams interested in compiling a running list of 24 and 25 commits? By school? In MIAA.

I’m not that engaged, but we used to do that some years ago and it was interesting and generated ongoing discussion and involvement.

IL publishes a lot of the data, but not really organized this way if I recall correctly. But there for someone to get it started.

RIP Francis "Boo" Smith.
NCAA Champion, All American defender, and Schmeisser Award winner.
He was a teacher, dean of students, and possibly the winningest coach in MSA/MIAA history ever, collecting 20 hs state championships as a head coach-
10 in lacrosse at John Carroll and 10 in squash at Gilman.
He was a mentor to many, and gentleman to all.
His family and friends will miss him.
