spent my entire life as a cat person. Not that i didn't like dogs. Just didn't like their fur, saliva, poo, pee, breath, barking, etc. i prefer cats. anyway, recently, the stars aligned and my kids are old enough to actually take care of an animal and... We got a dog, an Aussie Shephard. 1/2 toy, 1/2 mini. he'll be 6 months old in December. And... Now I get it. This dog is probably the best thing that ever happened to our family. Auggie rules.

Yup, dogs will win you over, there's a lot of personality, no vanity*, and just a lot of fun.
That's a pretty bright breed you've got, high energy too. Very trainable and willing to
learn and please. Better get yourself some chickens, or ducks, or sheep, or something, that dog's gonna need something to herd up. :D Enjoy.

Love this. Did this kind of practice with a GSD for years. Can't find a more focused and intense competitor to make you up your game. Keep it up, young lady, that dog will make you better than most.

They're pretty tough competitors in winter sports too.

Still enjoying and... He does love to herd. Currently, he herds us. We go for a walk and in the woods and he leads and then directs and etc. The little guy is just awesome.

PS A couple of weeks ago we got a backyard fence. A serious wow moment. Great for him, great for us.

Yup, they are awesome, and that herding thing is just in their blood. Check this guy out, little different breed but same instincts, worth their weight in gold. Better with sound on.
Meanwhile, the Maremma says, my job's done, no predators were let in. Dogs are amazing.

We lost our black lab about 2 years ago to a brain tumor, and our corgi had to go live with my sister about a year ago.

Wife pulled the trigger and picked up a Lab / Australian Shepherd mix this past weekend... named her Aspen. Sweet but a handful. Lots of training inbound:

Uh oh, that's a face that can manipulate. A female too, seems to be an inherent trait regardless of species.
Interesting mix, might end up with a dog that wants to herd geese rather than retrieve them. A real cutie,
congrats and enjoy. Got a collar?
