Really hope this guy has matured over the years. I had dealing with him years ago and he was not a pleasant person to deal with. Might be one of the cockiest coaches I have come across in my time.

Hoping for the best though. No reason LMU cant be a good program.

Former Florida Tech HC Ryan McAleavey joins as AC at Webber International. Maybe Webber is making plans to go D2?

They wanted to when they merged with (then DII) Saint Andrews in 2011, but something happened and Saint Andrews was booted from the membership of the NCAA in the Fall of 2011. For the remainder of the (school) year, Saint Andrews, up until then a member of Conference Carolinas, was allowed to have their athletics contests count as DII games for their DII opponents, but most of the spring sports teams ended up with too few players to continue.

Their men's lax team basically became the core of the UMO men's team...

Rutgers was a strong possibility the last I heard. Limestone tried to get him back and he told them no (nobody wants to work for JB anymore)

Nobody wants to work for JB anymore? What turned them off? The 3 national championships and 6 title game appearances? The IMLCA Presidency?

Maybe that the standards of working for him are higher than other head coaches?

Maybe because there are zero things to do in Gaffney SC or the constant large turnover of players you're asked to recruit or the fact that JB doesn't know the names of half the team (69 players currently) and that puts an assistant in a tough position.

Actually there are more than zero things to do, but it is not a thriving urban center. But that is true for a whole lot of small college towns. And with the pandemic, there is not a lot to do anywhere...

I don't know what you mean by constant large turnover - in reality the losses of players year to year for the Saints are relatively low due to the fact that they are in the hunt pretty much every year (have only missed the NCAA playoffs once since 2000, and have five national championships).

I think he knows the names of his players.

He is very well known for being the worst to work for. Nothing against him or the program but now there are a lot more programs that are competitive that’s guys can go to and win and be successful as coaches or use it as a stepping stone. Rather than get screamed at for going 16-1. Just my 2 cents, the allure of the program is beginning to disappear, but they are for now and we’re the best out there.

I won't comment on the inner workings of the program, but Gaffney may as well be the end of the universe. Quoting TripAdvisor.com, the "Top Attractions" in Gaffney:

1. The Peachoid
2. Cherokee Speedway
3. Cherokee County History & Arts Museum
4. Gaffney Outlet Mall

Unless you're REALLY impressed by outlet malls and big peaches...
It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Learn to recognize the difference.

Also have Charlotte, Spartanburg and Greenville pretty close. There are a lot of schools in worse areas.

Being one of the best has its costs! I know kids that went there that barely saw the field and they loved every minute of it. It was hard wok that set them up for better things in life.
