MLL vs PLL...Thoughts?

Post by TheodoreTugboat »

Just curious as to everyone's thoughts on the two leagues...

Which do you prefer? What is each league doing right/wrong? Can 2 leagues survive in the long run?

While the individual skill level of the PLL players is unquestionably higher than the MLL players (who are no slouches), I found the MLL games more enjoyable. That said, I definitely think my rooting interest in the local team (Cannons) played a part.

I am still not convinced the PLL's approach of "city-less" teams will work in the long run. I found it hard to remember who was on what team and the PLL uniforms, while cool in person, made it hard to determine the number of players on TV (or maybe I am just old).

They both have good and bad.

I prefer MLL.

Uniforms- MLL
Players- PLL (slight edge)
Format-MLL
TV- PLL
Style of play- MLL
Web- PLL but I could care less about that.
History- MLL
Management- Neither- Both seem to drop the ball.
Foresight- Neither

PLL seems to be a "lets extend our careers" league. Guys that don't want hang em up yet. (don'y blame them)

MLL Should have partnered with the players.

In the end i t hink the sport can handle it. At least the young players will be getting chances. Each team can get there niche. The sport is always going to have at least 2 leagues (outdoor & Box) In reality the best ran lax league is NLL.
