Was the old formula which I thought was very clever and appropriate used for determining the order:
"Each season, the Draft order is derived from each teams (1) Lax Rank, (2) Social Rank and (3) Education Rank.
We try to make the draft order as similar as possible to a real NCAA team. As a consequence, like a real NCAA coach, you try to make your squad as attractive as possible with wins to bring up your "Lax Rank" and, at the same time, there are other factors, like the "Social Rank" and "Education Rank" which you cannot control and are, so to speak, random.
LAX RANK
The Lax Rank is derived from each teams "Past Lax Rank" (How your team ranks in previous years with the most recent years being most heavily weighted) and "Future Lax Rank" (how many points you have returning for the upcoming season)."
Was hoping for better than 15th overall however.

No more "draft based on a formula to try and mimic real NCAA teams". Now, the draft is based solely on your finish in the previous season. e.g. Guy who finishes in last place gets to pick first.

Did we vote on this change? Maybe it was email. I thought we only voted on a proposed change of when during the year to draft?

Totally not a fan of this new draft order system. I can't find my vote or the email asking for a vote on changing the draft order methodology. I did vote on what time of the year to vote and how long teams have between picks however. And I will admit I was disengaged in the off-season.
Getting rid of education and social rank that was random, okay, but getting rid of lax rank I do not agree with. This new system affords the team that may not have been engaged at all in trying to get good players or even have an active owner, yet they get the first pick. The worst finishing teams getting the first pick automatically. That does not mirror college lax.
Can we re-vote with a transparent poll even if it doesn't go into effect for 2015? I can't find the last results anywhere.

Agreed. But some people don't want to mirror NCAA lax. Ironically, I think this issue has a political lean to it. A "we can't let the rich get richer" vs. a "if we can't have a survival of the fittest attitude in lacrosse, where can we" battle.

I need the pre-Draft roster from NC Lax and BruterLax and then Stegs can make that first pick and start the draft. Like past years, we'll start the draft early and... The Draft will continue on Sunday February 9th at 8 PM EST.
1. The Draft
a. If you can not make the draft, please let me know ASAP. We will set-up an auto-draft for you or make some other arrangements.
b. The draft order is (Stegmakk, HipandKneeDoc, UberHop, BruterLax, ohmilax34, BU_Strong, lax8888, Northeast Lax, NC Lax, OCanada, EaZyE, Maddog, Matnum, FCALax, Wholly Metro, GCCLaxster67, Genghiskhanbluejay, PALax) and will be a down-the-river, up-the-river format. i.e. Stegs to PALax and then PALax to Stegs etc.
c. Each coach has 2 minutes to make their pick. After 2 minutes, the "next coach" in the draft order can pick. If a coach picks a player that is ineligible or otherwise, the "next coach" can pick and the previous picking coach can "catch-up". i.e. The draft will start sharply at 8PM EST. At 8:02 EST, the "next coach" can pick.
2. The “Draft List”: The players that you will be able to draft consist of players from:
a. All not-already-claimed players from these 24 teams: Hopkins, Navy, Rutgers, UMass, UMD, Towson, UNC, UVA, G'town, Loyola, P'ton, Cornell, NDU, Duke, OSU, PSU, UMBC, Dartmouth, Hofstra, Syracuse, Hobart, Army, Fairfield and UPenn. You can look at the team rosters below to see who has been claimed and this list of non-drafted players from last season that got points is also a good resource.
b. All incoming freshman to the 24 teams listed above.
c. All not-already-claimed players that are transferring to the 24 teams listed above.
d. All rosters need to have a minimum of one defensive team and a maximum of two defensive teams. You will draft your defensive team from the 24 teams listed above. You do not keep your defensive team from the 2013 season.
e. The roster for each squad will consist of 14 “players”. You can have as many attackmen or middies on your squad as you’d like but for each week’s games, you can only start 3 attackmen, 3 middies, and 1 defensive team.

Was the old formula which I thought was very clever and appropriate used for determining the order:
"Each season, the Draft order is derived from each teams (1) Lax Rank, (2) Social Rank and (3) Education Rank.
We try to make the draft order as similar as possible to a real NCAA team. As a consequence, like a real NCAA coach, you try to make your squad as attractive as possible with wins to bring up your "Lax Rank" and, at the same time, there are other factors, like the "Social Rank" and "Education Rank" which you cannot control and are, so to speak, random.
LAX RANK
The Lax Rank is derived from each teams "Past Lax Rank" (How your team ranks in previous years with the most recent years being most heavily weighted) and "Future Lax Rank" (how many points you have returning for the upcoming season)."
Was hoping for better than 15th overall however.

No more "draft based on a formula to try and mimic real NCAA teams". Now, the draft is based solely on your finish in the previous season. e.g. Guy who finishes in last place gets to pick first.

Totally not a fan of this new draft order system. I can't find my vote or the email asking for a vote on changing the draft order methodology. I did vote on what time of the year to vote and how long teams have between picks however. And I will admit I was disengaged in the off-season.
Getting rid of education and social rank that was random, okay, but getting rid of lax rank I do not agree with. This new system affords the team that may not have been engaged at all in trying to get good players or even have an active owner, yet they get the first pick. The worst finishing teams getting the first pick automatically. That does not mirror college lax.
Can we re-vote with a transparent poll even if it doesn't go into effect for 2015? I can't find the last results anywhere.

Agreed. But some people don't want to mirror NCAA lax. Ironically, I think this issue has a political lean to it. A "we can't let the rich get richer" vs. a "if we can't have a survival of the fittest attitude in lacrosse, where can we" battle.

I need the pre-Draft roster from NC Lax and BruterLax and then Stegs can make that first pick and start the draft. Like past years, we'll start the draft early and... The Draft will continue on Sunday February 9th at 8 PM EST.
1. The Draft
a. If you can not make the draft, please let me know ASAP. We will set-up an auto-draft for you or make some other arrangements.
b. The draft order is (Stegmakk, HipandKneeDoc, UberHop, BruterLax, ohmilax34, BU_Strong, lax8888, Northeast Lax, NC Lax, OCanada, EaZyE, Maddog, Matnum, FCALax, Wholly Metro, GCCLaxster67, Genghiskhanbluejay, PALax) and will be a down-the-river, up-the-river format. i.e. Stegs to PALax and then PALax to Stegs etc.
c. Each coach has 2 minutes to make their pick. After 2 minutes, the "next coach" in the draft order can pick. If a coach picks a player that is ineligible or otherwise, the "next coach" can pick and the previous picking coach can "catch-up". i.e. The draft will start sharply at 8PM EST. At 8:02 EST, the "next coach" can pick.
2. The “Draft List”: The players that you will be able to draft consist of players from:
a. All not-already-claimed players from these 24 teams: Hopkins, Navy, Rutgers, UMass, UMD, Towson, UNC, UVA, G'town, Loyola, P'ton, Cornell, NDU, Duke, OSU, PSU, UMBC, Dartmouth, Hofstra, Syracuse, Hobart, Army, Fairfield and UPenn. You can look at the team rosters below to see who has been claimed and this list of non-drafted players from last season that got points is also a good resource.
b. All incoming freshman to the 24 teams listed above.
c. All not-already-claimed players that are transferring to the 24 teams listed above.
d. All rosters need to have a minimum of one defensive team and a maximum of two defensive teams. You will draft your defensive team from the 24 teams listed above. You do not keep your defensive team from the 2013 season.
e. The roster for each squad will consist of 14 “players”. You can have as many attackmen or middies on your squad as you’d like but for each week’s games, you can only start 3 attackmen, 3 middies, and 1 defensive team.

I interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to thank Loyola for announcing that my third attack starter. Herreweyers is going to miss 2014 because he is ineligible. They could not do this before rosters had to be set

How does the 2nd best player in the draft get picked at 14th? Lukacovic is going to be a 4 year starter at X for UVA. Probably a 2 time All American.

I don't think it's so clear that he was the #2 player. I personally don't think he was the second best player in the draft. With this said, I do think he was one of the top players and i also think grabbing him with the 14th pick was a steal. Also, lots of people, myself included, were grabbing middies. Bottom line, lets talk in a couple of months as well as 3 years and a couple months from now and we'll have a better idea who were truly the best picks.

GCC,
I had him as my #1 attackman. Problem is that I decided that I did not need an attackman early, and could snag a proficient one later on. My attack is still very young and put up decent points in 2013. Other than Staats, I do not think there is a "lock" in this draft. Don't get me wrong, Lukacovic is very good. He tore it up in UVA's scrimmage. Is he the second coming of Connor Gill? Maybe, but maybe not.

I am hoping Shane Simpson can give me the 3rd head of my 3 headed monster at midfield. I think he ends up running first line midfield along with Tutton and Pontrello. With the loss of Holman and defenses pressuring Sankey, Bitter, and Tutton, why not? If so, and my attack can produce good numbers...I may be in for a solid year. Who knows...It is a fun escape from reality though huh?

I'd put both Rambo and Rotanz ahead of Lukacovic. And possibly others.
Shane Simpson is an excellent pick.
Lots of great players in this years draft. More than I remember in previous seasons.

I had the same problem as a few others. Excellent attack prospects and two senior middies starting. I still almost took him as he was best available and it would keep him from hurting me later. Still I needed to find a middie starter. For me it was Crockett or the guy I chose. Crocket's injury steered me away because I did not know what it was. Knee or foot I am ok with my choice. Thumb or upper body and I might have taken him instead. As NC said there will be a serviceable attack man available for my pick right in front of him.
I had RL as between 5 and 8 bit fight now it all speculative

I totally understand people that were picking up middies out of need. I would put Rambo ahead of Lukacovic at attack. After that though I think Lukacovic both in talent and points will outshine anyone else.

These were the Top Ten Leading Scorers last season and when they were picked during their respective draft. Two first picks (though one was a first pick after he was undrafted as a freshman and sophomore), a 3rd pick after being undrafted as a freshman, a 7th pick, 8th pick, a 17th pick, three second round picks, and one fourth round pick. Drafting the top players is rarely obvious.

I believe Staats is by far the most talented player in the country regardless of position. That being said there are he questions marks about off the field issue, also Syracuse has a ton of weapons on the offensive end.

Tough choosing the third freshman attackman for UMD but he is just too talented to pass on. Cooter and others from the UMD board expect him to run midfield this year.
I didn't think many top recruits would be available now. Given the opportunity, I had to pick him!

Cannizzaro was not on my list originally. The freshman middie run made him last much longer than I expected. Hearing he would run mid was just icing on the cake but I fully expect he will return to attack eventually. I think UMD really landed some great talent this year. Lots of points will come from these freshmen!

While we're waiting for the next pick had a question...
please remind me if after the draft when we have that brief add drop period can one drop a player that you had kept prior to the draft? Or can you only drop players you just drafted and pick up a different player?

Reminder: We will complete our currently running draft on Sunday, February 9th, at 8 PM EST. Same draft order, format, etc. as we're currently using except... Each coach will only have 2 minutes to make their pick. If a coach hasn't selected a player within their 2 allotted minutes, the next coach in the draft order can make their pick and the delayed coach will need to "catch up".
If you are unable to make the draft on Sunday night, e-mail me so we can coordinate my making your picks for you.

So i had a busy time, knee op due to lax injury and a bunch of other [deleted] and i was waiting for Matt's email to come through to remind me, only stupid me totally forgot he only had my old email address that i dont use itn anymore and hadnt been on here since early Jan.

Does the add drop begin right after the draft or does it begin at a time certain ? In other words can I go to sleep after my last pick or do I need to stay awake. It was a great wedding and I did not get much sleep

The add-drop starts minutes after the draft ends. on the positive side, we've covered a lot of ground so it should be a quick draft.

Add-Drop for all teams starts at 10:15 PM EST. All Add-Drops are on a first-come, first-served basis. (Northeast and Eazy, you can pick up your remaining before this 10:15 start time.) Add-Drops will end on Monday, February 10th at 10:15 PM EST.

First thanks Matt. Best executed draft ever.
For me a potential driven draft. I wanted to get two likely starters at middie next year. I got one. I drifted and took French instead of a middie. Should have stayed focused and if i did drift should have taken the MASS attackman who went shortly thereafter. I asked French's coach about him. Got the reply "tough kid". I was hoping for more insight
Was going to take Loyola or Penn defense. Having an ACC defense is a little worrying with all the talent added with Syracuse and ND.
My last pick was pure potential but has size and speed and plays middie. He did not begin playing at a higher level until late. A real project for OSU. I like the attackman i got on add/drop I hope he developes as well.
Looking forward to next year's draft

Thanks maddog. I've seen him play since high school at Fairport. I agree with everyone else Matt, great job with the draft this year! I was surprised I was able to take Mariano when I did and was excited with this draft class/add-drop class. Zed Williams, Nick Mariano, Kyle Baier and Brian Schultz (after Herrewyers suspension) will all be starters for me at some point this season. Can't wait for it to start up.

Thank you, Matt. Job well done. This draft went as smooth as any. Amazing how we got through so many picks before draft night! Even in years where we tried to get a slow rolling start I don't think we made this mouch progress. Nice work all!
I had 8 picks and picked 8 middies... well Cannizzarro is an A/M.
Pick 1 (18) Charlie McCormick, JR, M, Georgetown- 27 Points as a sophmore, 13 FP
Pick 2 (19) Connor Cannizzaro, FR, A/M, Maryland- Starting middie. 2 goals/1 assist in first game of career
Pick 3 (54) Greg Coholan, SO, M, UVA- Started first two games of the season with 6 points (3,3)
Pick 4 (55) UMass D
Pick 5 (90) Stephen "Bones" Kelly, FR, M, UNC- Top 10 player. U19 Team. Will play eventually.
Pick 6 (91) Christian Trasolini, FR, M, Rutgers- 3 goals/2 assists in first game of carreer
Pick 7 (126) Gabe Voumard, JR, M, Navy- 20 points as a sophmore, 10 FP

Matt, a quick position change note - Billy Ward - M- SYR - SR was listed as attack, now on SU roster as M and is running w/2nd line mids. I'll update if he runs attack as the A/M is sure desirable. Thanks!

Any fantasy coaches going to be at M&T Stadium this weekend? I'll be there on Monday and possibly Sunday for the D3 game. Also, if SU is playing, I'll most likely go to Towson on Sunday night for the Women's game. I think Stegs will be around. Anyone else?
