Re: Navy 2020
Richmond is a good program. They were the favorite for the game and they delivered. I thought it was a good sign that Navy, when down by 5 in the 4Q, was able to get it back to 2 as opposed to letting it get out of reach much earlier. They had the ball, down by 2 with about 4 minutes to play. Credit to Richmond's D (including goalie) for shutting them down and maintaining the lead at 2 before scoring the insurance goal.

Re: Navy 2020
Agree...there were also some strange TO's. 47 looked like he had a hole in his stick for 2 of them, after the 2nd one he ran off without his stick I believe. What was nice to see were the skip passes....there were more in this single game than we've seen in 6 games over the past few years.
I can recall 57's goal was a skip pass, as was 66, and 17. I also noticed our guys seem reluctant to even look to the guys inside, especally when we are in 2-2-2. Our EMO was also poo, we missed on out on 1-2 more easier goals ....I do not think we even got a shot off on couple of them...RIchmond being tall and rangy do a nice job of clogging up the inside...they were happy to just watch aj passes the entire time.
Tough week on the yard this week...lots going on that is outside our control.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Saturday's Navy-Maryland men's lacrosse game scheduled to be played at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium has been postponed due to an outbreak of the Norovirus among the Navy men's lacrosse team. At this time a date has not been established for the game to be rescheduled.

Upwards of 30 Navy men’s lacrosse players and staff members have contracted the symptoms consistent with Norovirus since arriving back in Annapolis following Tuesday’s game at Richmond.
Out of an abundance of caution and for the sake of public health, the medical staffs at both the Naval Academy and the University of Maryland have determined that Saturday’s men’s lacrosse game should be postponed to prevent the spread of this highly-infectious illness both among both teams.
The Naval Academy is working with the facilities and athletic training staff to ensure current athletic facilities are being disinfected to prevent further spread.

Re: Navy 2020
What's going on with Sweeney? Not starting, 2 shots thus far this season. Is he getting PT? What's going on with him?

He's essentially the #4 attackman. Sharing the righty finisher & crease attackman role with emergent jr starter Tyler Perreten. Play's on the EMO & usually gets some runs in Q2 & at other times. Last year he also split time in that role with Pat Walsh. He'll get his shots & goals, as the season unfolds.

Nasty, nasty stuff. Smart move by USNA indeed. Best wishes for a swift and full recovery...looking forward to a big W @ Lehigh on 2/29.CU88 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 12:43 pmhttps://navysports.com/news/2020/2/21/n ... poned.aspxAreaLax wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 12:16 pm COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Saturday's Navy-Maryland men's lacrosse game scheduled to be played at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium has been postponed due to an outbreak of the Norovirus among the Navy men's lacrosse team. I suppose you all heard that another Midshipman passed away last night/early this morning. Tragic.

Re: Navy 2020
Absolutely horrible news. Hearts go out to the midshipman and his family.
If it's COVD19, I'd expect some strict quarantine of players and possibly the campus. For the USA it's recommended 14 days.

Let’s not equate/confuse/substitute norovirus with COVD19.

Hoping the Mids are recovering well from the Norovirus outbreak and will be fully ready for their road game vs. Lehigh this Saturday.laxxygilmore wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 4:47 pmNasty, nasty stuff. #28 Lehigh at 3-1 on the season so far, with a 12-8 L vs. #6 UVA and 3 W's vs. “Bottom 25” teams in #54 Utah (16-11); #70 VMI (14-11...that was a close one for Lehigh!...kudos Coach Jon Birsner) and #72 NJIT (17-8), the Mountain Hawks are ripe for falling to #37 Navy to start the PL regular season schedule.
(Rating #'s above based on 2-23-20 Massey)
Navy 14 - Lehigh 11 ... GO MIDS!
Re: Navy 2020
Loss to Lehigh 14-6. Mountain Hawks have a solid squad but still... Ouch.

Waking up to a slight hangover after yesterday's loooong day. First take below, going to watch on reply later today after being in that cold all day.
Navy sure played a ton of defense. Anyone like to discuss, perhaps on another thread..or here, that there is certainly a difference in discussion when we talk Face-Offs. There is the strategy of individual F/O men 1v1, and then there is strategy of 3v3 F/O units. Looking at the stat sheet. Sure wish there was a stat that would break out the GB's during the F/O and not award the GB to the F/O player if they did not actually pick up the GB.
GB's: N=31/L=45....DELTA--> +14 Lehigh
F/O: N=05/L=19....DELTA--> +14 Lehigh
By comparison, while watching the Lehigh vs VMI game this past week, VMI did an extraordinary job with the 3v3 F/O unit, allowing them additional possessions. I also recall the tactical job Terps F/O coach Chris Mattes did for MD, when Raffa essentially had no shoulder remaining a few years back.
If memory serves me when I attended the lax convention about 10 years ago, some coach/speaker mentioned that for every ~4-5 Off-possessions, equates to a goal in M-D1 lacrosse.
