Business is good. You wanted your guy in office to run the country like a business. UMd should be applauded!
No need to go political, this has nothing to do with Trump.

As to your UMD comment....Yes sir e-indeed. Because college hoops is sooooo important to a college degree, that they are patting themselves on the back for being the 13th most valuable college Hoops Program.
You are right about Trump. I hate that guy. The Maryland basketball program is a mystery. Should be better.....

The Higher Education Business Model
The cost of higher education continues to rise while financial support from states and the federal government continues to decline, students and parents become more price sensitive, and market volatility hurts gift giving and endowments. What’s more, the value of a college degree is being questioned given high levels of student debt and generally poor employment prospects.

Probably not surprising that a "sports mill" high school counselor is caught up in this scandal. IMG Academy employee tie in. Be surprised if this story doesn't grow.

Tuition room and board at IMG is around $70,000 per year.Every kid that attends IMG has family that can easily afford to pay for their kids.EVERY ONE OF THEM. IMG doesn't have a P.E.A. sized endowment.Everything is above board and oh so transparent.

Already starting to hear the talking heads going after college athletics. Got a feeling this story is going to be around for a while and will play well on both the left and with some on the right.

...AND when college becomes such big business that they need to keep fueling that machine with cash form somewhere. Then the wall street, banker types came up with a brilliant idea...look at all these kids that "need" to go to college, we'll fleece them and their families, and while we are at it we'll make the colleges tons of cash so they build and expand (seen Loh's new mansion on the hill?). We'll also give those broke kids credit cards, even though they have no credit with large limits, and then that'll keep pumping money to our buddies in the CC companies.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Ah, so free college for all is starting to sound like a better path, eh? ;)

Federal loans are over $1 Trillion right now. The default rate has reached double digits, and is rising. We are intentionally making our young workforce broke paupers....while assuming they'll gleefully pay for old people's Medicare that the old people didn't bother paying for.....

Good luck with that. This is the generation of workers that needs to pay for boomer's retirement. Oh yeah, I don't foresee any problems here...

AOC is very popular right now among the young. You are not going to scare them with scary words like "socialism". As the working class doesn't get its issues addressed (immigration isn't high on their list), scary words aren't going to work on them either. Health Care and decent jobs. Stock market doesn't resonate.

Laurie Laughlin grew up in a middle-class community on Long Island. She planned to attend Hofstra University, also located on L.I. Instead of going to Hofstra, she capitalized on some opportunities and got her career going. No question she has and continues to have a fine career.

Fast Forward to "Mommyhood".The tuition at Harvard -Westlake school is dear. Both daughters along with many sons and daughters of the stage, screen, and Hollywood attend. Laurie, like most H-W parents, are well healed. Tutors, SAT/ACT prep classes and guidance on how to understand the admissions process, are readily available.

Interesting that she would be willing, and certainly able, to plunk down $500,000, in lieu of OR in addition to, availing her kids of the academic support tool, mentioned above.

Doing so, allegedly to help her kids get into USC  will, IMHO, embarrass and humiliate her kids. Her actions point to her suspicion, that her progeny are way beyond stupid.

Another unfair and seemingly unattainable burden Mommy put on her 2 super-women...CREW. It's going to be pretty difficult for those 2 whiz-kids to make the USC team. Not only do they have ZERO rowing experience, but it's difficult to imagine those 2 could calculate exactly what the cox means when she yells out "give me 36". She ain't trying to borrow a bra. ;)

They love her in the upper midwest.
I enjoyed AOC ranting in a Congressional hearing about the Keystone Exon pipeline.
Apparently she does not know Keystone XL is still mired in court & hasn't even broken ground yet.
Her aides need to spell her talking points for her phonetically.

I guess parents have stopped parenting!!! Those families in Western Maryland have been bilked by Wall Street! Man I sent mine to college because Wall Street told me to! Who knew....

A MSNBC talking head said you gotta be an Ivy, Duke, or Gtown grad to get an entry level job in investment banking.

...maybe not a bad thing. Protect the rest of the country from them.

She probably thinks the Mexicans will pay for the pipeline, right? I mean, we can't reward stupidity like this, can we?

See, your problem here is that you're taking Cortez literally, old salt. You can't do that, remember?

Yeah, this is one of the really unforgivable things: conveying to your kids that you are certain they cannot get there on your own so-called merits. The strange part about Loughlin is that one of the daughters appears to want nothing more than to be a "Youtube influencer." I guess you can't do that effectively from Montana State in beautiful Bozeman.

The Willkie Farr co-chairman of the firm has been placed on indefinite leave of absence. That's a fall off a cliff....

Shameful.

I don't know if it's still relevant, but 50 years ago, qualifying for a Naval ROTC scholarship was a way to gain admission to most of the universities involved in this scandal, & many other "elite" schools (Ivy included). All it cost the student was room & board. ...but back then, you had to worry about protesters forcing the disestablishment of ROTC at your school while you were at sea, on summer cruise. I had a cruise buddy who was a MId attending Columbia. We found out his ROTC unit was closing when we read it in the IHT while on liberty in Bergen, Norway.

Figuring out this group will be interesting. They are still naive, but cynical as all get out. They are more efficient than 14 year old girls at carving up anyone that makes a misstep - particularly if they take themselves too seriously and are "meme-able". One of the reasons, I am am fairly confident that Beto doesn't stand a chance - he is a clear hypocrite, take's himself too seriously in a pretend like he doesn't sort of way, and he is eminently "meme-able".

AOC on the other hand has an uncanny ability to come across as sincere - she is Miss Smith goes to Washington for the millennial generation. Her only problem is that by the time she will be able to run, the millennials will be full-fledged tax payers, who have paid down a big chunk of their student loans - the issue won't loom quite so large.....
STILL somewhere back in the day....

...and waiting/hoping for a tinfoil hat emoji......
