No, but as I kept trying to tell you: it's a nothingburger. Trump bluster and a pointless new deal.

When from the "worse deal ever" to the "same deal ever". Trump declares victory, his fans cheer, nothing has changed, rinse & repeat.

Hey Obama haters, how's that national debt going along? ;)

What the heck?

Five Senate Rs sponsor resolution to "condemn MMT" and "acknowledge its implementation would ... pose a clear danger to the economy."

https://www.perdue.senate.gov/imo/media ... lution.pdf

A Senate resolution condemning an economic theory they don't like. Wow. Next thing you know they'll try to use their political power to suppress scientific theories they don't like. Oh, wait...

We currently have an economic orthodoxy that should have died 10 years ago were it not for all the careers directly and indirectly tied to it might have. It is weaker but hanging on. MMT would be the death knell for it and republicans use it as their underpinning. I guarantee if they had to testify and be able to explain it they would fail. They fear it more than Marxism. Remember when Cheney ? said deficits don’t matter. Not a peep.

Our fiscal situation is weaker than many people are thinking about and it’s all Trump.

Tariffs are essentially a tax. There are many ways to deal with them but none eliminate them. The tax on steel and aluminum increased cost about 9%.

China now owns Trump. They were always going to at least hold their own but now sheesh. There were some that thought a deal was possible. And it is unless you are Trump. Right now Xi has him by the shorts.

October 1. Debt ceiling and budget. If Trump tries to hold the debt ceiling hostage does he really think there won’t be any consequence? Then there is the budget which if not approved under the Budget Act will fix mandatory cuts. Trump might like it but again he is clueless. Mulvaney was a member of the Freedom Caucus. Described by one of my clients lobbyists as a group that didn’t care about anything but voting no with a membership that had never really run anything, had a number of bankruptcies cf also Trump and didn’t understand the second derivative implications of the actions they took

Get ready for the r's to start blaming the Fed for a slow down in the US economy. What happened to the "Trade Wars are easy to win"?

@realDonaldTrump

China will be pumping money into their system and probably reducing interest rates, as always, in order to make up for the business they are, and will be, losing. If the Federal Reserve ever did a “match,” it would be game over, we win! In any event, China wants a deal!

Any r want to chime in and explain for us?

Fees have been dropping like a stone across the investment spectrum. I don't place a lot of confidence in this line of reasoning but as noted in the article it is highly unlikely. The dropping of fees is hurting income for many.

The authors of the bill only provide exceptions for notes, bonds, debentures, or evidence of indebtedness “that are subject to the rules of, a qualified board or exchange located in the United States, and has a fixed maturity of not more than 100 days.”
All bonds should be excluded.
“Market makers will not bear the costs,” said Hawker. “They are already on thin margins, so bid-offer spreads will widen. When spreads widen, volatility tends to go up, and it becomes much harder and more expensive to trade.”
He is talking about market makers, their role is to ensure there is a market. They don't create volatility, they respond to it....by making sure their is a bid/offer.

The author concludes that a transaction fee won't change behavior.....but the revenue would be nice.

I don't see how this would impact most individual investors bottom line.

Notice that when white farmers need government assistance they’re called “patriots” & when poor people of color need assistance it’s called a “hand-out” & “socialism.”

@realDonaldTrump
Our great Patriot Farmers will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of what is happening now. Hopefully China will do us the honor of continuing to buy our great farm product, the best, but if not your Country will be making up the difference based on a very high China buy......

Another $15,000,000,000 in payouts, and counting, for nothing...

Deplorable.
