Dystopian before Corona:
Last month, as Covid-19 began paralyzing American cities, Baltimore’s chief prosecutor, Marilyn Mosby, announced that her office would no longer prosecute prostitution, drug possession, attempted drug distribution, and public urination and defecation; nor would it enforce open-container laws. Claiming that this policy would prevent the coronavirus from spreading in prisons, Mosby told prosecutors in a memo that such crimes pose no risk to public health. Yet it doesn’t take a degree in public health to understand that increasing the amount of feces, unprotected anonymous sex acts, and drug needles in public places is dangerously unsanitary, especially during a pandemic.

Conditions in Baltimore felt dystopian even before Covid-19. Some 17,000 abandoned and dilapidated homes blight the city; more than 85 percent of public school students aren’t proficient in math or English; and two of the last four mayors, plus a police chief, have been convicted of financial fraud. Streets in many neighborhoods resemble war zones. In February, a pizza deliveryman who had fled the Syrian civil war was gunned down in broad daylight. Meantime, the stay-at-home orders have not deterred Baltimore’s killers as the city has notched nearly a murder a day since mid-March.

is this the yahoo DA who prosecuted those 6 cops? I thought she was forced to resign? Tell me she isn't still in that role?
Yup, same yahoo.

One in the same.

She's a legend in Baltimore.

For a myriad of reasons.

Nope, very, very connected within the machine. Smart, attractive...but man is she bad.

Friend worked for a few months in her office, holdover from prior SA who was actually quite good...quit, disgusted.

Rather than restrain this individual with more force, the cops went light touch. Didn't work out so well, for both parties, in the end.

I wonder if she would've struck the first cop if he were black? I wonder how fast this would've been on the MSM news if the assaulting cop #2 was white? :?:

She's in custody. He's on admin duty and being investigated.

I come before you people tonight with an idea. Probably the greatest... ahh, it's not for you, it's more of a Shelbyville idea.

Indeed. The protestors have done a nice job. A new generation has taken the lead. Experienced ranks were kind of thin five years ago. What is pretty clear, is we are not head towards a race war. It really was a very hopeful sign. Bad news is, the right wing provocateurs will now target Baltimore. Also city government responded appropriately for the most part.

What are the great large Liberal progressive cities—Currently burning and defunding the police.

Our liberal progressives here take it as a badge of courage that 6 decades of democrat local and state control has resulted in total chaos.

Babies and adolescents shot in the head in broad daylight. Civil authority under fire and budgets busted.

So you boys are back to wanting more government?

At some point----some point----you guys are going to make up your minds as to what the heck it is you want your government to do.

Sounds like....today anyway....you both want more unions, more spending, and more government. Do I have that right?

Where does this post mention MORE government.

How about this. Give us good government.

Protect and defend the constitution so to speak.
