Spoke to a head coach of an MIAA team last week.
He believes this spring season is gonna happen. Given the motivation and mobilization of the MIAA parents group. He thinks it could be a mostly full season too. He said the worst case scenario would be a shortened season that would occur in the 4th Q of the school year.

That’s good news
Re: ~The MIAA “A” 2020~
I also think there's a good chance there will be a Spring Season, in one form or another, maybe a conference only schedule. We'll have to see how things shape up in the next couple of months.
Whatever decision is made, I can state with a high degree of confidence that it won't be based on the demands of a noisy minority of parents. Certainly, schools are aware and take that into account, but that's not how the decisions are made. They're based on the health and safety of the entire community. I hear many more parents telling the school administrators, "Thanks for keeping everyone safe".

MIAA is basing the Spring Sports season on the Winter Sports start. As of now, the Winter Start date is Feb 8th and the Spring start date is Mar 8th. If Winter sports slip, there is an option to slide Spring to Apr 1st.

Does Calvert Hall four-peat this year? If not, who dethrones them?
Re: ~The MIAA “A” 2020~
Does the Hall repeat?
Tough call...top contenders include Loyola, BL, and McDonogh (maybe Spalding in the mix too?).
I'm putting my money on a very athletic and physical McDonogh team, with the dons a close second.

Another question. Will this be Spalding's breakout year?

winning it all is a tall order. But stranger things have happened.gymman1031 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:45 pm Another question. Will this be Spalding's breakout year?

Re: ~The MIAA “A” 2020~
Spalding needs to make the playoffs first. Haven’t figured out how to do that yet. McD, CH, LB, Gil, STM and BL are your playoff teams.
Re: ~The MIAA “A” 2020~
Sp over Gilman for the final playoff spot IMO. (Spalding has a lot to prove)
Re: ~The MIAA “A” 2020~
Spalding ain’t making the playoffs. JC, MSJ and Severn (maybe) will be their only conference wins.

Re: ~The MIAA “A” 2020~
Sad news.
Longtime John Carroll lacrosse coach, teacher and mentor that led the Patriots teams of the 60s and 70s, Ed Miller, passed away.
He’s was a great man who will be missed by any who had the pleasure of meeting him.
I was one of those people. I met him in the stands of a JC lax game a few years back and struck up a conversation. I had the pleasure of then seeing him in the stands from time to time afterwards. He is everything this video from a few years ago says. A kind gentleman. A true loss for the JC community.
As a bit of trivia, although he was best known as a lacrosse coach and teacher at JC for 40+ years, he was also the first varsity lax coach at Loyola Blakefield. RIP Ed Miller.

Best of luck to SP! By the way, if the Crusaders don't win a title this year, they will equal their longest championship drought(11 years) in program history.

Local MD rec programs are re-opening outdoor fields for play on Feb 1.
Public schools will be returning for 1 day a week later that month.
This bodes very well for spring sports.

Apparently a full MIAA lax schedule has been finalized.
Conference games will start March 24 if allowed to play.
