2019 Baltimore Sun Player of the Year:

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/ ... clnk&gl=us
Towson University-bound senior Blair Pearre was an offensive force for McDonogh this spring, finishing with 54 goals and five assists to help lead the Eagles to a 21-0 record, Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title and consensus No. 1 national ranking.

Pearre, who also had 30 draw controls, 15 caused turnovers and 25 ground balls, played a key role in controlling the midfield, time and again securing draws and finishing at the offensive end. Her ability to spark the transition helped the Eagles play at a torrid pace, which opposing defenses usually couldn’t match.

She scored six goals in McDonogh’s 10-7 win over Archbishop Spalding in the IAAM semifinals, then helped her team rally from a late 4-2 deficit against St. Paul’s in the title game, first scoring with 4:14 left in regulation to cut the lead to one, then feeding teammate Emma Schettig with 1:48 left to force overtime in an eventual 5-4 win.

Almost as important, her two-goal effort in the season opener against Spalding helped the Eagles avert an upset bid in their first game back following the end of their national-record 198-game winning streak in 2018. The victory set the tone for a season full of uplifting come-from-behind wins.

For her efforts, Pearre, who honed her skills playing for the M&D Lacrosse Club, was selected to participate in the 2019 Under Armour All-America Girls Lacrosse Game later this month at Johns Hopkins.

Pearre’s teams went 85-1 during her four-year varsity career.

Not scrimmages. Real games. SPSG beat John Carroll 15-3 last week. Today McDonogh plays MDS and Bryn Mawr plays Maryvale. Quite a few games that were scheduled this week got moved around because of spring break which is why SPSG and JC played last week.

McDonogh Drops a 13-3 game to Glenelg Country. Anyone have any insight on the Eagles this year and what is causing them to return to earth?

Something has happened to be sure.

Prior to this year, McDonogh had last lost an IAAM game when they were defeated by NDP in that historic IAAM finals in 2018. I think that was the greatest HS game ever. Prior to that they had last lost an IAAM game in 2008 when they lost to that great John Carroll team in the IAAM finals.

I suspect McD lost to JC in the regular season in 2008, but I'm not sure.

But two regular season league losses? And the season ain't over yet.

Back before McD began dominating the league, the old timers used to call it the blood bath league. Maybe again?

I think you're seeing teams catching up to McDonogh, taking what the Eagles did (i.e., win draws, shoot smartly, control pace of play), then throw it right back at them. I was impressed with the Eagles in the win over Spalding. They seemed to be able to control the pace and they played a game not unlike what you might see internationally. Lots of uses of change-of-pace.

McDonogh in another tough tussle in league semifinal: it's tied 7-7 with Notre Dame Prep with under five to go in the game.

McDonogh scores with three to go, NDP wins the next draw and the shot is saved.

McD takes it though NDP's ride, draws a yellow, then Eagles run out the clock while up a player. Final score, 8-7.

St. Paul’s beat McDonogh 17-8 in the IAAM finals today. For years, I’ve gone down to the championship game, but didn’t make it today. Also too cheap to pay the $10 for the live stream.

This result is not unexpected given the regular season game between the teams.

IAAM historians will know better than I, but I think this is St. Paul’s first league title since 2006. That year they also beat McD which was in its first A conference finals under former coach Chris Robinson.

Bump to 2022.

Interesting start to the season, as McDonogh will be hosting four teams for a quintupleheader on Saturday, March 19:

9 a.m. Bethesda Stone Ridge (Md.) at Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.)
11 a.m. Radnor Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) vs. Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.)
1 p.m. Baltimore Bryn Mawr (Md.) vs. Bethesda Stone Ridge (Md.)
3 p.m. Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) at Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.)
5 p.m. Radnor Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) vs. Baltimore Bryn Mawr (Md.)

I have not been able to ascertain whether these games are friendlies or whether these games count as games played towards the limits placed on their regular-season slated by their respective governing bodies. I am guessing the latter. It should be a great day of lax and I hope to be out there to liveblog the matches.

Went to see McDonogh take on its first out-of-state opponent since 2019. Eagles took an 8-1 lead at the interval, eased to a 16-4 win.

McDonogh was its usual excellent self on both ends of the field. But I have one name for you: Remi Schaller. Wow. She had a pair of goals including a snap-off from the 8 o'clock hashmark that is straight out of the Charlotte North notebook. And I don't say this lightly.
