Georgetown 2021
Re: Georgetown 2021
Indeed. The Hopkins attackman Murphy who is currently in the portal would also be a good addition for those years, especially if he takes this semester off.

Very Solid pickup for the Hoyas in 2021 class.

I recall mapping out their schedule last year,
and based on those teams play at that point,
I had Georgetown going undefeated in regular
season play, I didn’t see anyone who could beat
them short of tournament play,
they’ll need to up their schedule in the coming years.

Re: Georgetown 2021
Even North Carolina? I’d agree that Denver’s defense probably wouldn’t have held last year, but Loyola is always a tough game for the Hoyas, even with Spencer gone. As is Villanova. That said, they would certainly have had a chance.
Re: Georgetown 2021
Goldberg looked like the best player on the field in a couple games I caught on tv last summer. He's a bit on the small side, but an off-the-charts IQ makes up for it. Disappointed he wont be headed to Chapel Hill. Good luck to him.Tdemling6 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 5:59 pm Very Solid pickup for the Hoyas in 2021 class.

I agree, the last game vs Towson, GT was on the way. But the next game was in Chapel Hill, it was big test. Undefeated? Little strong !!10stone5 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 6:30 pm I recall mapping out their schedule last year,

I am, seems obvious, irrationally high on the Hoyas.Mr3Putt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:44 pmI agree, the last game vs Towson, GT was on the way. But the next game was in Chapel Hill, it was big test. So, I’ll tone it down and just say, 11 seems a little
conservative for a team which has been accumulating
a lot of talent of late.

Men’s Lacrosse Adds Jack Rowlett as Volunteer Assistant
WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team hired Jack Rowlett as its new volunteer assistant coach, Head Coach Kevin Warne announced on Friday. Rowlett joins the Hoyas program following a stellar collegiate playing career and two seasons of professional lacrosse with the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL).
"We're excited to be able to bring somebody of Jack's caliber on to our staff," Head Coach Kevin Warne said. "Having a young coach that has competed and excelled at the highest levels of lacrosse and can help impart his skills and experience to our team is invaluable."
A Burke, Virginia native, Rowlett was a two-time USILA All-American defenseman at North Carolina. He garnered third team honors as a senior in 2019 and was an honorable mention selection as a junior in 2018 while earning All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors both seasons. Rowlett started 17 games as a freshman during the Tar Heels' 2016 National Championship campaign and was a member of the U.S. U19 National Team that won the world title in 2016.
For his career, Rowlett played in 62 games while collecting 140 ground balls and 59 caused turnovers to go with 14 goals and a pair of assists.
Following his graduation from Chapel Hill, Rowlett was selected seventh overall in the inaugural PLL Draft by Chaos Lacrosse Club. He has played the past two seasons with Chaos LC, seeing action in 16 games while amassing 19 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and a pair of assists. He was a finalist for the 2019 PLL Rookie of the Year as well.
Georgetown went 6-0 last season before the season was canceled because of Covid-19 concerns. The Hoyas are the reigning BIG EAST Champions, having won back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.

2021 NCAA LACROSSE PREVIEW: NO. 11 GEORGETOWN (MEN)
FRI JAN 22 2021 | PATRICK STEVENS | COLLEGE
The straw that stirs the Hoyas’ drink, Jake Carraway is back for a fifth season and will leave his name scattered across the program’s record book
College lacrosse is back. As perhaps the most anticipated season in NCAA history approaches, we’re featuring every team ranked in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason Top 20.
Check back to USLaxMagazine.com each weekday for new previews, scouting reports and rival analysis.
NO. 11 GEORGETOWN
2020 RECORD: 6-0
PRE-COVID RANKING: 9TH
He’s played on a pair of Big East tournament champions, helping Georgetown end a postseason drought of more than a decade.
Last year, he emphatically made it clear the Hoyas would not fade from relevance after former Georgetown star Daniel Bucaro’s graduation, piling up 23 goals and 11 assists in just six games.
Once again, Georgetown will revolve around attackman Jake Carraway, who is back for a fifth season and a push for an extensive legacy on the Hilltop.
“I think he’s still one of the most underrated players in the country,” Georgetown coach Kevin Warne said. “I personally think he’s fantastic, and people might have different opinions, but he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Being a captain, being our hardest worker, and as a fifth-year guy, he sees the light at the end of the tunnel with his career and has done a really good job in the leadership category.”
It’s understandable why the energetic Warne has an affinity for the equally intense Carraway, who put his entry into the workforce on pause for a year and enrolled in a master’s program in management. Not only do they have some similarities — Carraway has been a part of the best moments of Warne’s tenure while also understanding things haven’t always been so rosy for the Hoyas.
Georgetown went 4-10 in 2017, Carraway’s freshman year, before earning Big East titles the following two years. The Hoyas were off to a 6-0 start in 2020, with a barometer game against North Carolina just a couple days away when the pandemic shut down the season.
While Georgetown didn’t practice in the fall, it’s clear its offense will go through Carraway this spring. He enters the season third in school history with 214 points, behind only Greg McCavera (236) and Bucaro (226). His 144 goals is tied for second all-time with Scott Urick, nine shy of Bucaro’s career mark.
“He is dialed in,” Warne said. “Jake is one of the most competitive kids I’ve ever coached. He’s the guy at practice you have to calm down. He goes 100 miles an hour. As coaches say, he sets the thermostat on the field.”
It helps to have most of last year’s key offensive cogs back in the fold, including junior Dylan Watson (23 goals) and sophomore Graham Bundy Jr. (eight goals and five assists in four games).
But for Georgetown to collect another NCAA tournament berth and perhaps advance beyond the first round, Carraway figures to play a prominent role as he navigates his second senior season.
“He wants to leave his legacy,” Warne said. “There is no question he’ll be our hardest worker. He’ll set the tone from day one knowing he has around five months left in his college career.”
TOP RETURNERS
Jake Carraway, A, Grad.
The straw that stirs the Hoyas’ drink, Carraway is back for a fifth season and will leave his name scattered across the program’s record book as Georgetown’s offensive centerpiece for the second year in a row.
Owen McElroy, G, Sr.
A year after losing his starting gig in May as the Hoyas pushed their way into the postseason, McElroy rebounded to lead the country in save percentage (.630) and goals-against average (6.21).
Gibson Smith, D, Sr.
The anchor of Georgetown’s defense has started 40 of the 41 games the Hoyas have played since he arrived on campus, missing only last year’s opener. He had 25 ground balls in five games as a junior, and in 2019, became the only non-faceoff specialist in school history to scoop up 100 ground balls.
KEY ADDITION
Nicky Petkevich, A/M, Gr.
The Bethesda, Md., native will wrap up his college career close to home after scoring 50 goals and adding 37 assists as a four-year starter at Colgate.
ENEMY LINES
“Georgetown is now an established top 5-6-7-8 power. They’ll be a little different the first couple of weeks. If the first couple of weeks happen, they’ll be different. But they are ultra-talented. They have some fifth-year guys, and they just are so well-coached. They recruit great. They’re always ready at the end of the season. They are now one of the established programs in our game.”
“Tewaaraton kid in Carraway. Probably the strength of their team is at the attack, with him leading the charge there. A lot of people were saying, ‘What are they going to be like without Bucaro?’ But I think they kind of settled into their own, and they have a really talented group at attack. A lot of people are giving them props for the season they had last year. Personally, I want to see them play somebody in the ACC or the Big Ten. They made a decision a couple years ago to change their schedule a little bit, and I’m happy for them because it’s worked. They’ve started to gain some notoriety by putting Ws on top of each other.”
NUMBERS GAME
.689
James Reilly had a .689 faceoff percentage last season, ranking fourth in Division I. Reilly improved from a .492 faceoff percentage as a freshman in 2019, when he set the school record for faceoff attempts in a season (419).

Anyone know when Georgetown will post their schedule?
I assume they are waiting on the school/AD approval.

Re: Georgetown 2021
It is odd that at this point St John's and Georgetown have not posted their schedules yet as the rest of the Big East has. Perhaps waiting to solidify the pre-season and pre-conference game schedule?

Re: Georgetown 2021
just a guess, but I do not believe the PL is releasing their schedules until 1-FEB...maybe if a team is playing the PL they have to hold off?
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Has anyone seen the Georgetown schedule yet?
Also saw that Phipps was promoted to Associate Head Coach - I wonder if the Maryland opening had anything to do with that.

Re: Georgetown 2021
Schedule not out yet but will be the 5 BE opponents 2x and likely 2 OOC vs opponents regularly on our schedule. So if make BE finals would be 14 game schedule and then hopefully an appearance in NCAAs again.
Re: Georgetown 2021
Can confirm, for us Loyola fans, there is a May 1st date between Loyola and Georgetown. But, I believe this game is only on, if there are no Patriot league games that need to be rescheduled

Thanks. Was Hoping they'd have kept their game vs UNC. They were scheduled to play right before the season was cancelled. Hopefully they resume that one after this pandemic year.
