I think it’s great all these players on the list found spots .... but will they be happy with their decision and cost if lacrosse doesn’t happen? 12.5 scholarships spread out over 45 to 50 or more players doesn’t go far.

As good as Sowers and Morrill and the Merrimac kid are, in the end I’d go with those teams who have a lot of their own returning, like Cuse, Penn State and perhaps Ohio State or Georgetown as the favorites (if there is a season). Chemistry With the returning players and coaching the same guys means a lot.
This is the 1st time I have seen Virginia projected as 1 of the winners in the transfer sweepstakes despite getting a former Teewarton candidate. All American, Michael Kraus, moved onto the job market on Wall Street which makes perfect sense so opens a spot. Virginia took Bertrand as a replacement but he may play either attack or midfield. I don’t think 1 transfer player is likely to upend an entire team’s chemistry, especially with the talent already on the roster. Bertrand will have to find a place to fit in as a complimentary player. Now, trying to integrate multiple players onto a new team and culture is entirely something else Like at Duke or Notre Dame. Time will tell how all that works or not.
But UVa is keeping extra-year senior Jared Connors at UVa, and is very likely to keep extra-year senior Dox Aitken at UVa, which gives them 2 extra former 1st team All-Americans.
If Aitken does return, UVa definitely belongs near the top of the list for teams that did well by the fifth year of eligiblility rule.

It is amazing the flexibility these coaches have with regard to scholarships...take a half scholarship from a kid this year and give him a full the next and use that $ to bring a kid in. Many are financial aid kids and don't need atheltic $...heard n Syracuse case $ was given by alum to return seniors. It isn't as bad as many think but seems to kick the can down the road. The 2022 and beyond will suffer. What happens if they don't play next Spring? My take is 5th years are done, maybe bring in the next round of 5th years but by then you have 2 years of recruiting classes piled up waiting for time on the field.

It does have the potential to quickly become a big mess. My guess is going forward the NCAA will have a clause with regard to “out of control circumstances” such as the Covid crisis. Perhaps accommodations will not be given going forward for blanket eligibility. Students will have to seek waivers and if they have a true year of eligibility they did not use they will be able to play. Losing about 6-7 weeks in the spring was nothing compared to the impact Covid May have on 2020/2021.l

You are probably correct that they benefitted, although, primarily by retaining up to 2 star players already part of their culture. Lars handled this very differently from Duke and Notre Dame. We will see who made the best choices in due time. Regardless,I am not a fan of granting the extra year, going forward. I think it negatively impacts a lot of teams and future roster spots for current high school players.

Just curious, with a lot of leagues cancelling fall sport competition have any transfers changed their minds?

In addition to the large amount of already in-
school transfers, look for de-commit, re-commit
freshmen as the rosters start filling out.
One early posted roster had three de-commits, re-
commits just from the Air Force incoming
freshmen.
I also wouldn’t be surprised to see this past spring’s freshmen, with their freshmen year
returned to them just pop up on other rosters,
not having gone through the portal.

Air Force seems to have a lot of recommits despite still having a solid program over the past 5-10 years. Your Drexel three and couple of prior years Hobarts picked up to good ones in Tommy Mott (Co HS AA) and Troy Barthelme (1st team vaunted all MIAA).

Seems like within the NEC, which isn’t as followed, or course, St Joes and Bryant went hard at the portal with some success. SHU was active as well but they’ve been working transfers hard for a while (Saggese, the two from SBU and another last year).
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, Malcolm
See Jesus, Judas; Caesar, Brutus
See success is like suicide
