Article of a few recruits from Torrey Pines CA—notes Christian Rasmussen has committed to Brown. Small crease player put in 62 goals as a junior.

Zander Valentini out of The Benjamin School, Florida, on the recommendation of Brown lax icon Darren Lowe, commits as a 2020’er...defender with size and fundamentals; great lax IQ and tenacious..Leading Edge....great pick-up adding to a stable of similarly sized and talented long poles in both the 2019 and 2020 classes ...reminds of the old one 19’er all-American Pat O’Neill out of Ward Melville...may be one spot left in the class coming in Sept of 2020....

I drove by Stevenson Field on Labor Day. I tried to load some pics but the files are too large to upload here. In any event, the East Side of the field now has temporary stands and a temporary press box, so that the field can continue to be used for soccer season. On the West Side, from the fence adjacent to the field to first row in the parking lot is a construction pit, with concrete walls taking shape. Lots of work to be done.

Re: Brown 2020
There are, judging by the just completed World Indoors, some good players on that team.bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 9:46 am Sunday, October 6th

Halftime vs Israel, Brown 11-6. No sign of nos. 2, 4, 42. Starting attack 40, 6, 14. Can't i.d. fresh. Some have xx, some have xxx pinnies. Goss all the way so far. Close D starters from last year (44 graduated), 3rd D rotational today. 21 looks good on 2nd attack. Supersized middies need to realize attack not 6'5" tall when passing to x
Goalie #1 to start half 2. 2 quick Israeli goals.
Fresh goalie in now (xxx pinnie)

Not ragged for fallball! Israel basically a pick-up team, no practices before this trip; this was in effect a tryout for the national team.
What passed for bear 1st team played well. 8 & 19 took fo's until last of Q3. Did not dominate, but seemed above 50%. Came back to fo in Q4 when game was close/tied.
Is this it? Or is there an alumni game?

A few other observations. Believe it was 8-3 midway through Q2, when starting attack and Goss came out. (#1 came in as Goalie midway through Q2, and 21 (formerly 16) finished well on Attack.) 2, 4, and 42 all will be primed to go this Spring. The Israeli team FOGO was actually a Brown freshman (Gunty), who showed very quick hands on the clamp. 13 at D middie was great in transition O. Other D middies looked strong and fast: 3, 5 (formerly 27--played w long-pole on man-down), and 11. Could be an area of strength. Thought multiple freshmen showed glimpses of being able to contribute. A solid scrimmage, but coaches will have film of areas that need work.
Re: Brown 2020
A couple of other observations, Caputo (new number, 5)and Miller (18) were SSDMs except when rotating in for man-down. Antonelli (now 21) had some low to high rips that were outstanding. Credit to the Israeli team - they were playing their third game in 3 days.
Re: Brown 2020
Are those guys dealing with injuries or on the dreaded junior year abroad program?

Damn: out of town for alumni game.

Curious—did Gunty join Team Israel for their scrimmages vs Harvard and BU? If so how’d that go?

For myself, usually holding iPad in 1 hand & using 1-3 fingers at best to type, it's just easier. Also I got in the habit of using numbers when critiquing play; it just seems a little less personal.

OK. Just wondering. So long as it isn't bashing a student athlete, names are fine. A player making a mistake is not that big a deal. The players are aware of it. Criticism is something else.bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 12:37 pmTypical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 10:26 amWhy not use the names?Charlie Don't Surf wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 10:31 am A few other observations.
