Two years ago at this time, Georgetown coach Kevin Warne, had, very likely, the hottest seat among coaches in College Lacrosse. Lots of people predicted he wouldn't make it past 2018. But, with some coaching changes, and all the talent being his, he and the Hoyas have surprised many. They have won back-to-back Big East Tournament championships and appeared in the postseason each of the past two years. Their next "small" steps are:
1. to get to at least the Quarterfinals in the NCAA Tournament
2. to have a good enough resume to be, pretty much, a lock for an at-large postseason bid should they not win their conference tournament
Warne continues to recruit very well and has some good talent back for 2020. Let' see if they can take either of the steps I mentioned above.
Georgetown 2020
Re: Georgetown 2020
Chris Gray would ideal for the Hoya's. With Bucaro's graduation, Gray would a great addition with Carraway on Attack. They have some top recruits coming in, quarterfinal would be within reach. G'town hit a home run with Lucas Wittenberg, transfer from Mercer. Maybe Gray would consider DC, warmer place to play than Boston and a top 20 school.

Probably a long shot, but would be pretty exciting.

Good analysis and solid next steps. Hopefully they can beef up the schedule in the offseason to help with #2.gymman1031 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 12:00 pm Two years ago at this time, Georgetown coach Kevin Warne, had, very likely, the hottest seat among coaches in College Lacrosse. Re: Georgetown 2020
Agree with all above comments in regard to schedule, recruits etc.
You can’t replace a Bucaro and Whittenberg a big loss along with rest of senior class. Hoyas do return a ton of talent. Entire close D, goalies and Fogos return. Carraway now the unquestioned leader of offense and that is a nice place to start. Watson will most likely be the predominant left side attacker, after a really strong back end of freshman season. Midfield is a question mark but Mcdermott had a great freshman season and would not be surprised to see a few rising underclassmen as well as one or two incoming freshmen make an impact. Also, don’t be surprised to see two impact redshirt seniors back in the blue and gray next season which would be a big boost. If Warne can land another transfer, on either side of the ball, that has anywhere close to the success Whittenberg had in his two years on the Hilltop would also be a big boost.
Schedule - i would look for one big time addition to the schedule and think a second is likely. That will give the Hoyas the resume building opponents they need to play, and do well against, to be in discussions for an at large if don’t win the AQ. Those two teams would join Denver, Villanova, Towson and Loyola to give Hoyas 6 very likely top 20 opponents. Along with Romo, Marquette, Hofstra, Drexel and Providence etc. that would be a quality schedule.

Georgetown has three of the final 50 boys for the U19 team - two boys who will be on campus this year and a 2020. One of only 6 teams with 3 or more boys to make the final 50.

Re: Georgetown 2020
Hoyas should be pretty solid for the next few years but hard to replace Bucaro, Wittenberg and Aslanian(taking a 5th year @ ND for Grad School). As mentioned above, a few key seniors also will be taking a 5th year grad season at Gtown which will ease the pain. Warne continues to recruit well as 5 freshman saw meaningful time this past year. Sorry to see Chris Brandau leave but McELroy had a real solid season and Stephenson is back as well. Anyone hearing of any transfers coming in?
Go Hoyas!

Re: Georgetown 2020
The 2 year only grad program is not ideal for keeping RS Seniors when others have one year programs. Wish Pat the best. He was a great Hoya. Have heard chatter around 2 very significant transfers but time will tell.
Best to Chris as well. Hoyas will be just fine in the cage in 2020

Re: Georgetown 2020
Looks like Hoyas have some solid recruits coming in with UA All Americans Graham Bundy (m) and James Donaldson (d) for 2019 and then saw that in the 2020 Underclass UA game, 3 G'town recruits were named to the All Tournament team, TJ Haley (a) Seamus Foley (d) and Will Tominovich (d) . Warne & staff doing a great job!!
Re: Georgetown 2020
Looks like Colin Munro is headed your way according to Xanders twitter
Re: Georgetown 2020

Re: Georgetown 2020
Colin will be a great lefty addition to the team. He was a HS UA All America and then got hurt his freshman year at UNC but surprised he didn't play as much as a sophomore. Was it the UNC's offensive system that didn't match Colin's game or just alot of depth at his position?

Re: Georgetown 2020
Hoyas announced a fall scrimmage against Rutgers in the St Louis Fall Classic, 10/5/2019 @ 7pm.
Re: Georgetown 2020
Dylan watson had a very strong Minto Cup. Will be a key lefty finisher for Hoyas with graduation of Bucaro leaving a big void. With Carraway, Clarke returning for a 5th year due to red shirt and Watson, this could be a formidable attack unit for the Hoyas in 2020.
Re: Georgetown 2020
That's great that Clarke is returning for a 5th year! Will be interesting to see if he, or Watson, (or another new name) can step up as dodgers. Carraway can create on his own, but now is going to be facing the #1 D man. Going to need more options to initiate.HGK25 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 11:05 pm Dylan watson had a very strong Minto Cup. Re: Georgetown 2020
Georgetown has 4 freshmen, out of a class of 11 boys, who made Ty Xanders top 100 incoming freshmen. Including the #5 (Bundy) and #8 (Donaldson) ranked players. Looking forward to seeing how all the freshmen look vs Rutgers out in St Louis next month. Let’s go Hoyas!
Re: Georgetown 2020
From Navy 2020 schedule - Hoyas will scrimmage vs Navy and Penn on 2/1 in Annapolis.

Hoyas have 7 2020s in Xanders top 100, including the 10th, 19th and 23rd ranked boys in the class. This on top of a very strong current freshman class. Kudos to Warne and his staff.
