Towson 2020
Re: Towson 2020
I hope he comes back for himself & the team. Who wants to end your career that way? Get your degree & finish strong. It’s really ok. Wow someone made a few mistakes, shocker. Grow up & move on !

Re: Towson 2020
Suspect Nads has done just that....moved on.
Re: Towson 2020
That’s good, the moving on lesson.
Then again, things just aren’t always that simple.
My preference is, being the old head that I am — always, always be the adult in the room.
If there is a way, this year would be the one where the Tigers could use someone with Mazza’s wealth of experience.
And, I’d presume, Mazza could use another year of quality education.
Seems like a no brainer, to me.

Re: Towson 2020
From a talent standpoint Mazza would be the perfect fit replacing Sunday. When in peak lacrosse form Jon is a special talent. I know how it ended in the locker room and I would think there would have to be tremendous contrition on Jon's part before Nad's would even consider taking him back.

Per Ty Xanders:
After putting his name in the portal in May, James Avanzato has decided to transfer to

An Under Armour All-American in 2017, the LI native suffered a torn ACL early in his freshman season at
@TerpsMLax could play either attack or middie for the Tigers.

Re: Towson 2020
Great pickup once again by Nadelen.
Re: Towson 2020
Avanzato is going to do really well at Towson. He's going to fit well from Day 1. Great locker room guy, too. As a Terp fan, it's sad to see him leave. He's got a great first step and isn't afraid to mix it up. He can play up top or down low, although I think he'd be best play attack. He's probably not the shooter that Monahan was, but he more dynamic as a dodger. He got hurt so early in the season as a freshman that he wasn't really 100% at the start of last season. Now that he's 100% ready to go, and he's going to tear it up. I'll definitely root for him...in any game that isn't against the Terps.

Towson is hiring Providence assistant Matt Musci as their new assistant, multiple sources tell @College_Crosse
. Musci also had stops at Lafayette, Saint Leo, and Drexel (his alma mater). He replaces Anthony Gilardi, who is now the head coach at Stony Bro

Re: Towson 2020
I copied and pasted that, there was no intention on my part to demean either Stony Brook or the sport of lacrosse.
Re: Towson 2020
Coach Musci is great addition, hard working coach who was a blue collar and really good player and knows conference from his playing days. Now two Drexel alumni on staff with coach Musci joining coach Grossi.
Re: Towson 2020
Not the shooter that Monahan was? Monahan shot an abysmal 19.5% his junior year and a respectable 28% last year. Hope Avanzato is a better shooter. Now Monahan was playing midfield and he's certainly a good player. He's playing pro ball, but he was inconsistent as a shooter. Did think he was an underrated feeder. Had 21 assists last year.Wheels wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 11:11 am Avanzato is going to do really well at Towson. He's going to fit well from Day 1. Great locker room guy, too. Seems like a good pick up and hear they are not done.
Re: Towson 2020
It's not about talent; it's about chemistry. Nads has moved on. I would be shocked if he came back after what he did to that team in 2018. Yes, we need a big scorer and facilitator to replace Sunday. Get a transfer who fits the bill.harflax wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 9:28 pm From a talent standpoint Mazza would be the perfect fit replacing Sunday. When in peak lacrosse form Jon is a special talent. Re: Towson 2020
Monahan was just traded. In reality, he is an Attackman. Can play up top on offense, but is a wing player in reality. Best of luck to TM.
Word is Towson hired Matt Musci, an asst @ Providence. He would take Gilardi’s position as OC. He is part of the Drexel tree. Obviously, knows Grossi, current DC @ Towson . See what happens.

Re: Towson 2020
I meant that Monahan has a heavier shot and could stretch a defense in ways that Avanzato probably won't at this point in his development. Quickness and speed-wise, however, Avanzato will add a lot of that to Towson's offense. He's fearless, too.Math1234 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 8:41 pmNot the shooter that Monahan was? Re: Towson 2020
Cool. I was a bit disappointed early on in Tim but he had an excellent senior season. Sure, he's more of an attackman but they needed him to play midfield.Wheels wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 9:12 pmI meant that Monahan has a heavier shot and could stretch a defense in ways that Avanzato probably won't at this point in his development. Re: Towson 2020
It’s more hybrid these days. Especially w the specialist in the game. TM grew up a lot. He stumbled, to say the least his first year. Became more fluid & had a really good senior year.
Re: Towson 2020
Word is that Mazza is back practicing with the team...
