Holton Arms was as good as advertised with an amazing midfield that scored 12 of 13 goals and the other was a perfect feed from one of those middies. Last year, they hung 16 on us and it wasn't close, this year gave a big effort to climb back into the game late in the second. ...

The original post (redacted above) does not represent Woodson Lacrosse. Unfortunately, in the absence of another voice, it might seem to.

I would like to offer a parent's perspective of the games this past Saturday.

Both games against Holton-Arms and St. Catherines's were competitive. On the field, girls from all three teams played good lacrosse and displayed good sportsmanship. In the end, Holton-Arms and St. Catherine were each victorious. Congratulations to both teams. Thank you to Holton-Arms for inviting us to your campus.

Battlefield won 9-8 last year at home. Hornets should prevail something like 15-12 next week. :geek:

A few more scores:

Yorktown (H) 20 Lake Braddock 6

West Potomac (H) 13 Mt Vernon 1

West Springfield over Falls Church (don't have final, but source says they were up by 10 or more late)

Don't think McLean - Forest Park was last night

I forgot about that game. I think Dominion will edge Battlefield by 1 or 2.

If Battlefield can't get by Dominion they will struggle against Herndon. Dominion beat Freedom-SR by three. Herndon doubled up Freedom and had the subs in before half time in their last scrimmage.

Re: Coffey Break

I was going to wait for Doc T to give us the gouge but it was a 6:30 start for some reason so I arrived it was 4-3 Robo! That was when the Rams lost their way and gave up four straight to let the Fillies lead at the half 4-7. SoCo couldn't get out of the gate at the start of the 2nd half as their defense just collapsed allowing 6 Robo goals to give the lead back 10-7. SoCo got to 10-8 but the Stallions were forcing the ball and it looked like it was over until the Robo Freshman Focus of the Offense decided inside of three minutes left to go to goal so instead of winning by 2 it should be 3! Big save and SoCo had two free positions in the last two minutes but their freshman decided stick-side high was the way to go so it ended 10-8 and Robo escaped the karma. If Bozo Stinger had been in the house tonight he would have been drinking heavily as it was Aretha Franklin's Birthday Night so we got a huge dose of the Queen of Soul including trivia. At one point, the announcer was singing along but using P-I-Z-Z-A rather than R-E-S-PE-C-T...I had to respect his guts as outside of a shower it was punishing! Best line "Coach Curran is brave enough to have some Pizza and a Beer...I wanted to join him...but I was told he actually said Beard...what that had to do with it was again something BS would have covered with some classic rock. Tonight not so much!

Are the Generals contenders or pretenders?
thanks for the scores... to answer your question...I think they could likely go 4-0 to start the season...building hopes of winning the county...but, then ...consecutive losses to West Spring, Langley, Fairfax, Herndon will bring them back down a bit....If they were to win one or two of those, then, yes, the Generals could/would be contenders.

Either way (contender/pretender), its good to have a second relevant team in Arlington.
West Springfield (H) 10 Washington-Lee 7 last night is what I am told.

Langley

Post by VirginiaTerp »

Langley played three privates in four days. On Saturday they played two games in Milton GA (Legacy Cup Invitatiomal) and split, winning 16-13 over New Albany Ohio, but losing to then 12th ranked (nationally) American Heritsge Delray 19-4. Then they played at St Stephens St Agnes (top 6 team) today, losing 16-3. Do the privates benefit from playing Langley and does Langley get anything out of losing by wide margins to the nation’s top teams?
