Re: Towson
This was the highlight of the '21 season for the Tigers. Though they battled in a few games against tough opponents afterward, it was pretty much all downhill from there. Sophomore Blaire Pearre (pictured) was the resident goal scorer with 58--31 on FP to go with 68 DC's, 33 GB's and 10 CT's. Nikki Sliwak was 2nd. She transferred from Maryland for her 5th year and has since graduated. Lindsey Marshall will be back for just her sophomore year. She was 3rd on the team in scoring. Fairly big drop off after her. It will be interesting to see if any Tigers mature into major contributors for the '22 season.

Re: Towson
The Towson Tigers got their start way back in 1977. They began playing in division ll before moving to division l in 1983. Here’s a team photo from 1980. They were AIAW Division II national runners-up that year. The Tigers have moved around to different conferences over the years but they have called the Colonial home since 2002. Typically a mainstay for the postseason in both the CAA (7x CAA conference tournament champs in 2005, ’08, ’09, ’12-’14 and ’16 ) and the NCAA’s although they haven’t made any ventures past the 2nd round. Towson has teams they play on a regular basis like Delaware (22-31 all time); Loyola (13-35); JMU (13-30); UMBC (38-7) and Drexel (36-6). One of the teams I always root for.
Interesting to note the wooden (hickory?) crosses and the goalie pads.

Re: Towson
Thanks ALD. Cool to know the players. I always enjoy when players come down to the lower 48 from the great white north. Is she highly touted?Anotherlaxdad wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 8:14 amThat's #8, MILANA ZIZAKOVIC from Alberta, Canada.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 2:50 pm I don't know who this is other than a Towson Tiger frosh. Found out this little bit from the team website:
5’11” frosh midfielder.
“At William Aberhart: Two nationals appearances, and was named the MVP in 2019 as captain of her team; league top scorer award in 2019; helped her team win the Provincial Champion Field Lacrosse title in 2019; she was invited to and played on the training roster for the U19 Team Canada squad in 2018.”

Yep, she looks really strong on offense this fall.

A Canadian lefty, imagine that.
As for the old Towson picture, all I can think of when I look at it is how appreciative I am that game they were playing back then is not the game the girls are playing today.
Those sticks were more like tennis rackets, had virtually no pocket at all. Give one of those to a modern day mlaxer and he'd struggle with it mightily, the wlaxer would be thankful she's using one of today's sticks too.
The GK used a regular stick back in those days?

Blair Pearre
Last season, Towson standout midfielder Blair Pearre was injured in the CAA semifinal with over 6 minutes to go in regulation vs Drexel which resulted in an OT loss for the Tigers. Who knows how Towson would have fared if Pearre didn’t have to leave the game with a season ending injury. Even so, Pearre had a great year for a sophomore, (in 17 games) scoring 58 goals, 68 dc’s, 33 gb’s, 10 cto’s and 31 FP goals on 51 attempts which would be a .607 batting average if she was a baseball player. Very impressive. Some of her other accomplishments during last season are listed below. Looking forward to seeing what kind of junior year Pearre has. If last year was any indication, she should once again be a dominant member of the Tigers in ’22.
2021: Tewaaraton Watch List nominee …. All-CAA First Team … CAA Rookie of the Year … CAA All-Touramenent team … Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team … Preseason All-CAA selection … CAA Rookie of the Week (April 13 and May 3) … led Towson in goals (58), points (66) and groundballs (33) and finished second in draw controls (68) … topped the CAA with 31 free-position goals and ranked second nationally, averaging 1.82 free-position goals per game … scored a career-best seven goals, on just seven shots, in a win over William & Mary (April 10) … scored six goals in the regular season finale at Hofstra (May 1) … produced back-to-back five goal games against Georgetown (March 13) and St. Joseph’s (March 20)… also scored five times against Drexel in the CAA semifinals (May 7) … scored at least two goals in 15-of-17 games played, including 11 hat tricks … controlled at least five draws seven times, including a career-best high against Elon in the CAA tournament … had seven draw controls in victories over then #8/#10 Loyola (Feb. 24) and St. Joseph’s (March 20) … became the ninth Towson player to score 50 goals in a season … career-best seven points against William & Mary (April 10) and Elon (May 5), when she dished out a career-best three assists … scooped up a career-best five groundballs on three occasions: William & Mary (April 10), James Madison (April 13) and Drexel (April 23) … missed the NCAA Tournament after being injured in the CAA semifinals.
Re: Blair Pearre
Blair is fantastic and was the best player on her McDonogh team as a senior. I did not see her playing against Florida last weekend so hopefully she isn't injured again.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 4:35 am
