With no insult to Northwestern, UNC or any other team intended, all season, this was and is supposed to be the Championship Final.

I've noticed on a few closeups that Hartshorn has her top hand (and notably her thumb) on the head of her stick on the draw. My understanding is that that is not legal? She also visibly had her foot over the line on several draws against NU. Why is it not enforced?

I noticed the same thing about her hand clearly on the plastic. I know a few years ago that was prohibited. Has the rule changed?

If that's still a rule, it's one of several that the refs this weekend chose to ignore. In today's final there were many instances of illegal follow throughs that needed to be carded, but weren't. It's a championship game, let's pretend the rules don't apply.

Congrats Terps, that's one mighty fine looking team.
GK is the MVP in my book, she was the biggest difference maker.
BC took too long to get their motor running at max efficiency, IMO,
can't give Md a head start and if you're going to beat 'em.
Refs gave BC no breaks, no way you call warding on Sam on that call,
no way.
Kent not a T Award finalist....not knocking any of the girls on there,
but Kent should unquestionably be one of them.
Apuzzo joins D. Marino as one of the best ever.
Feel bad for BC, which isn't to say Md didn't deserve the victory.

John Brickley and Jon "Stugotz" Weiner

Brickley normally does play-by-play opposite Sheehan Stanwick Burch. Stugotz landed in the booth this weekend.

Agree with many of your points but especially the warding call. Refs ignore several instances where the rule book requires a YC but call ward on that play when they could've called warding off dozens of times over the weekend (including on many draws).

Just saying this BC team was supposed to be greatest ever...lots of hype
Didn't win ACC Championship
Didn't win NCAA Championship
Lots of talent for sure but no hardware to Show for it...
Yellow cards and fouls doomed them
Gotta play in control

In general, I'm not a conspiracy theorist but... There were two critical calls where (1) it was a seemingly bad call and I could've sworn the ref was smiling and (2) the ref was very far from the call and it was questionable. I want to see the box score and where the refs were from.

Two critical game changing calls in the semi finals in favor of bc. Bc. Should have had a couple more yellows also. Life goes on. Congrats to the Terps

I was pulling for BC.Lot's of young women from the neighborhood on that team. Credit Maryland for their gutsy performance.I was looking at the roster and was shocked to discover MD had 2 kids from Baltimore on the UMD team.

What I did like a lot was the day and the size of the crowd. Too many of this year's games were played in far less than desireable conditions, was nice to see the game played on a sunny day. It's a tough deal in lacrosse when so much of your season is played in cool weather, then you're zapped by the sun on NC day. Just the way it is, seasons change.
Wlax gets nowhere near the recognition it deserves. Maybe that's a good thing, but there are an awful lot of people missing out on a gorgeous game played by some tough, gritty, and very talented athletes. The skill level and stick handling ability (which is going to explode to another level in the next decade...Gary's got his girls playing box, hmmmm) is just out of this world, these gals are just a pleasure to watch. The passing and cradling in this game is just soooo pretty (please bring these sticks (back) to the men's game!!!!!)! What was once an unbearable game to watch (said respectfully to the purists) is now incredibly entertaing. The change of rules in wlax is the best thing I've seen happen in the entire lacrosse world. It's a whole new game, baby.
Oh, and if I were a young college boy, I know where I'd be hanging out. Geezuz H!

One from US Lacrosse and has done these games for umpteen years, one from MAAC, one is head of US Lacrosse Ref Education, and one legit and from Philly. Unfounded...

At least they finally called Steele for being in the crease-she has been in there the last 3 games . The warding call was horrible and MD got away with some very aggressive questionable defense. However , it always seemed like MD would win. Great teams shoudn't need help with calls.

Shocking!

Every starter minus 2 are MD women. Kind of cool...

I have rooted for BC throughout much of the last three seasons, but unfortunately they have become the Buffalo Bills. I hope they can win one soon to change that.

Great season by two terrific teams. It is always a shame that one team has to lose but both teams should be very proud of their seasons. Maryland's defense was outstanding throughout the whole tournament and Megan Taylor should be given serious consideration for the Tewaaraton award.
