Hearing the freshman class is deeply talented. Perhaps the most talented recruits coach K has brought in.
They will push for time and ratchet up the practice levels.
Griffin Thoreck returns from injury as a senior. A powerful 6’ 205 lb middie. Colin Dean returns from injury. Listed as Attackman but has run 1st line middie last year.. Andrew Thomas also back from injury at Cabrini last year (game 2). Started as sophomore. A scoring threat missed last year, especially on man up..
Both FO guys back.
The pieces are there and Coach K has a knack of having them ready for ODAC tourney.. and beyond.

He was in fall ball. The poles and 2 Senior SSDMs will are very solid. Chris has waited 3 years for this opportunity. Should be ready. 2 talented freshman goalie back him up...
With rule changes it will be interesting to see how fast transition will be pushed? How involved SSDM’s will be on offense and how O middies get back and maybe press, trap, deny D schemings is done?

Any Lynchburg fans out there heading to UVA for scrimmages today?
CNU high in pre-season rankings so very interested to see how 1st half goes.
UVA fresh./sophomores should be rested after starters run against Loyola in their game 1.
Great tune up for Salisbury next week..

CNU scrimmage summary over on CAC thread. Not surprising 14-10 result. Very athletic team. Love to hear the aggressive approach. Coach K also cycles in reserves especially with UVA on deck.

Thanks Deep. Saw that.
Was a great tune up for both programs.
The hornets are hungry to sting Salisbury Saturday at home. Berry is improving but was surprised they struggled with them on their home turf..

No prob. Had to love that Lynchburg Goalie notching his own behind the back goal in the highlights. That was something special.

Time will tell if the Berry game leaves the Gulls exposed and rattled, or if they shake the rust and come back with a chip on their shoulder.

As surely as day follows night the Gulls will be just fine. This is Coach Berkman’s Team we are talking about. It’s February, championships aren’t won till May. You need a silver bullet and wooden stake to kill those guys

What one or two freshmen do you believe will be impactful this season?

Hey Dhunt.
Lynchburg has tons returning and these freshman have elevated practice levels. Athletic recruits at all positions.
Attack is very talented but don’t think they will break into lineup with Lombardo, Adams and Thomas senior experience with Junior Trammel Robinson all returning. May see 1 or 2 convert to midfield?

There is a 6’4, 220 midfield, Chris Jennings, I’m hoping will develop sooner. Tough to defend that size.

Well, Salisbury came out strong and steady. FOs, GBs and excellent defense. Shot great too, stinging corners.
1-1 game 12 minutes inro the 1st but Lynchburg offense was not clicking at all. Unforced TO’s including 3 literal throw always. Frustration started setting in. They gave up 3 man down goals going down 8-1 into the half. Time of possession was heavily in Salisbury favor. 3rd quarter was similar to the 1st trading goals 10 minutes and it looked like a runaway when the Gulls buries 2 more to go up 11-2. Then things began turning. Afew more GBs, FOs and clears and they ran off the final 7 goals but ran out of time.

The bad: Man down needs work and 39% FOs will not work!!!!!, clearing game need work and 2nd line middies production needs to improve. They didn’t turn ball, over but didn’t get in the stats.sheet, at all. Lombardo and Thomas on attack didn’t seem to show up, at all...

The good: All the pieces are there and I’m certain film from this one will be useful to Coach K. Defense and goal play are strong. Hopefully we won’t see another game with zero CT’s and 39% FO’s from our senior tandem (please lord). Colin Dean on 1st line midfield had a tough day but will be productive. He reminds me of Colon McGuire as a threat to initiate lefty and righty and will demand attention.

I like the shot clock. Each team were timed out and each forced some weak outside shots. I like how it keep tempo and in right games stall will be less of factor..

On to F&M..

Lynchburg has had a tough time with Cabrini the past several years. Can the mighty Hornets win this one at Shellenberger?

1 goal fame last year. I’m certain they’re up for this one. Need to reduce unforced TOs and produce more shots..
Rainy, wet, raw 40 degree famed like this davir home team.. Krug must be contained!

Tough loss for Hornets. Did not see the entire game, but Lynchburg seemed to be controlling much of the action. They just could not quite solve a tough Cabrini defense. Not much separating these two teams, but Cabrini put the ball in when opportunities were there. On to York.

They had their chances. Won GB, FO and shot stats. Looked real sharp in1st..

Some really untimely mistakes. TO in 4th by SSDM #4 only to throw it away for easy goal.. clean FO win Koester could have ran into goal but threw it away and a few other simple throw aways continue to hurt them.. can’t tell if it anxiousness, nerves, poor IQ or wet sticks.. needs to be fixed.

Skullz observation is looking accurate as offense continues to struggle. Poor, no fake, telegraph shooting. 1st line middies are getting some penetration but not able to distribute. Looked like Cabrini fell into zone and LYN had no plan except to dance around perimeterAttack not a threat to best man and turn corner.
1-4 Man up (making it 1-8 in 3 games)

Would like to see some more urgency in unsettled transition. SSDM’s don’t go to goal like the 2015 crew. Riv Lambert and LSM McDonald seems like they could be given that green light.

Defense is solid. A couple breakdowns led to goals in 2nd when Cabrini ran off 5 straight.. Again, mistakes giving ball back has to be cleaned up.

They are close but it is gut check time with 5 away games including York next week and Stevenson and Wesleyan at the Mustang Classic..
