Juan Gonzalez, FO Amherst (.556%)
Amherst had returning the best FOGO in all of DIII this season, but Dylan Finazzo didn’t play until last night’s game against Wesleyan. Gonzalez a freshman from Sarasota, Fla., filled in nicely to start the season. He is winning .556% of his draws and has come up huge in big games this year. He went 16 of 28 and 23 of 35 against F&M and RIT, respectively, earlier in the season at the Mustang Classic. He has gotten plenty of work too with the Mammoths averaging 18.7 goals per game, him taking nearly 75% of his team’s face-offs. With Finazzo working his way back Gonzalez will play a crucial role the rest of this season.

Jake Michael, G, York (.606%, 6.65GAA)
York entered the season with a big question mark at the goalie position after graduating Landry Marshall, who is one of the best to play between the pipes for the Spartans. Michael earned the spot and has started all 11 games this season. He’s helped get his team out to a 10-1 record and a No. 5 ranking in the IL Media Poll. Marshall has held all but two opponents in single-digit goals. He had a season-high 13 saves in an 11-7 win over Cabrini.

Ian Evans, A, SJFC (32G, 18A)
St. John Fisher is one of the hottest teams in DIII with its lone loss coming to No. 4 RIT. Evans, a Jamesville, N.Y., native has played a huge role in their success. He’s started every game at attack and is currently leading the team in assists and is second in both goals and points. He’s found the back of the net in every game this season and put up a season high eight points on three goals and five assists against crosstown rival Nazareth, and he is also leading the team in EMO goals with nine. The Cardinals are poised to make a run at the Empire 8 title and Evans will play an important part in that.

Rick Smith, A, Illinois Wesleyan (17G, 18A)
Smith is leading the high-scoring offense of the Titans. He’s fit right in with the team that averages 55 shots per game. He was held scoreless in just one game this season against No. 1 Salisbury. In his second collegiate game, he put up eight points on six goals and two assists. Illinois Wesleyan is the frontrunner to win the CCIW and if it does, it will be a tough out for any team in the NCAAs and Smith will be counted on to continue to put up those big numbers.

Blake Target, A, F&M (21G, 4A)
The Diplomats have two of the best attackmen in DIII with Kevin Molliahan and Luke Keating, but the third player on that talented unit is Target. The freshman has stepped right in and is putting up some big numbers for his team. He has five hat tricks in 10 games and put up a season-high five points on three goals and two assists against Lebanon Valley.

Jake Hase, M, Williams (18G, 30A)
Williams is having a great season at 7-2 and are coming off of a 15-14 setback against Tufts last night. It is Hase, the freshman midfielder, who is currently leading the Ephs in points. His 30 assists are 18 more than any other player on his team and is currently in the top 10 in all of DIII. In his first collegiate game against the defending national champs he managed one goal and seven assists. Hase’s top point output this season was three goals and seven assists against Colorado College for a 10-point game. Williams is set to make some noise in the NESCAC Tournament, and Hase is now a known commodity, but look for him to continue to distribute the ball at furious rate.
