Re: NCAA Tournament
wondering what impact playing Wednesday and then winner traveling to #1/2 for Saturday game will have on their performance.
Tampa/Wingate game is scheduled for 8pm on Wednesday.

Re: NCAA Tournament
I would have to think getting the bye will be a huge advantage. Winners from first game will basically play Wednesday evening/night, go home, pack and either get on a bus or plane the next morning. No rest for the weary. Not to mention try and study for finals
Re: NCAA Tournament
That's why I believe they should play the first round on Thursday at the site of the respective #1 and #2 seeds with the second round on Saturday. In the current format, any #5 and #6 seeds who win first round games will have to travel twice in the span of 4 days. Last year the 12-team Women's Tourney played 1st/2nd round games on consecutive days at the sites of the #1 seeds and this year they play 1st/2nd round games on Friday/Sunday at the #1 seeds with no one traveling between first and second rounds.laxfan4all wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 10:22 am I would have to think getting the bye will be a huge advantage. Re: NCAA Tournament
Another option would be to delay things a week, thereby avoiding finals (at most places), and make the championship weekend a true final 4 for all three divisions.
It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Learn to recognize the difference.
Re: NCAA Tournament
Actually, many schools in the South are almost done with finals...delaying for them would hurt instead of help due to the lack of play (it is not an accident that all the South tourneys are a week earlier than the last ones from the North/Midwest...)WhiteCarrera wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 2:50 pm Another option would be to delay things a week, thereby avoiding finals (at most places), and make the championship weekend a true final 4 for all three divisions.
You also impact the travel budget in a big way - big city hotels can be quite a bit more pricey than smaller city/town ones nearer to DII campuses...

Re: NCAA Tournament
No denying there would be some adjusted costs, but there could be fewer flights to offset an extra hotel day. Big city or not (gollly gee), I think the NCAA's got the money.
One definite loser would be the Gaffney outlet mall, but if teams don't like the potential gap, then schedule a game (see Limestone v. U Indy). However you look at it, if you're bringing people together for a championship weekend, then I'd vote for a final 4 rather than 2.

I found the poem which follows many years ago (early 2000/ on the old Laxpower.com forum. The author published it under the sobriquet "Sixpackman". My best guess is that the author was mimicking a French-Canadian dialect.
Poems, stories, and musings from sixpackman
it just be a ring boy
i see you be lookin at my ring boy
see i be gettin the ring a while ago
and it does look rite nice and all
but gettin it was reel hard you know
gettin this ring took a lot of time
and i guess that time started long ago
it started when you first be piken up the stick
and sayin this is just the thing i love to do
now when you be sayin them words
and you be feelin the lacrosse inside you
there aint goin be a hole lot you can do
cus when you play the game it is you
and so it was to me and i played the game
and every day i rememberen practicin
i be practicin when aint no one there to play
i be practicin when i aint even got a ball
i was just a kid then but i was playin the game
i be playin every chance i got
i be playin the big kids and little kids
i be playin with my dog and cat
i be playin a wake or playin a sleep
i just all ways be playin the game
now i be lookin at you boy
and i see you lookin at this ring
and i just be wunderin if you reely want this ring
do you reely want to be playin and practicin that much
and for eight more years i played the game
i be runnin in the snow and ice
and practicin day and nite
and it dont be matterin if i be hurt
and it dont be matterin if i be sick
i gotta be there no x-cuse
i all ways just gotta be there
if you trip and fall you get up
cus the best be reedy to take your place
he all ways standin there watin for you to slip
so you all ways got to get up and be the best
there aint ever gonna be no rest
there aint ever gonna be no pain to great
there aint ever time to take a break
now boy i aint sayin i got regrets
cuse i be all ways be wherin this ring
but what other paths i could have traveled
what other folks i could have known
the game took all i had
and i gave the game all i got
now boy i just be lookin at you
and i just be wunderin if you reely want this ring
if you reely want to be given all you got
and leavin behind all those other things
i just be a wunderin boy if you reely want this ring
and what price you be willin to pay
and how great is your love for this game you play
now boy it just be a ring
