Put in your 3rd line and tell them they have to play with their off hand. Work on your game. Put players in at positions they don't normally play. So many other options than 52-0. Coach had plenty of time to think outside the box as he had already coached a couple of other very ugly games.sm2321 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 11:56 am At halftime, Mesa's coach asked Johnson Wales coach if he wanted to stop the game, and he said no. This is college. You don't just lay down and quit so you don't hurt the other players feelings. It's not just on CMU coach to stop play, if they didn't want to quit, then it's on them at that point. It's an insult to the game if you stop trying and to the other team as well. From the article the AD released: "In addition to discussions with CMU's President, our staff has spoken with many members of the lacrosse community at multiple levels, including the NCAA. Their wisdom and insight was instructive. Many communicated that winning by unsportsmanlike margins isn't good sportsmanship; but neither is playing with less than your all and thereby disrespecting the game through patronizing play."

Re: Colorado Mesa
I find it hard to belief the Ad is trying to spin this !!
" Many communicated that winning by unsportsmanlike margins isn't good sportsmanship; but neither is playing with less than your all and thereby disrespecting the game through patronizing play. These conversations pinpointed the difficulty in finding the right balance. However, finding that balance is our commitment to our players and fans in the future."
What is so difficult, maybe we need a college level class on how not to be completely classless. Plus they say,
"At halftime, Mesa's coach asked Johnson Wales coach if he wanted to stop the game, and he said no. This is college. You don't just lay down and quit so you don't hurt the other players feelings. Help me understand your logic here Coach, it is the J&W teams fault you ran the score up. ????
You mean to stand there as a College level Coach and try to sell the line that you have never ran into a situation like this in all of your coaching experiences. Not buying it !!!
If this is your view if how the game is played you are lacking the necessary coaching experience to continue as a Head Coach in any college setting.
It was a sad day when this happened, and even sadder when we make a lame attempt to justify it with using the "we will learn from this, but not change anything " statement.

Re: Colorado Mesa
Authorized representatives of both teams can agree to shorter quarters (preferably in writing at least a day in advance)...Happened today for the Belmont Abbey vs. Lees-McRae game...
Re: Colorado Mesa
Has anyone heard how the player who got taken off in a neck brace is? Make no mistake about it that's on the jackas... coach
Re: Colorado Mesa
Hope he is okay, and has no serious injuries. But I agree with Topcat.

Re: Colorado Mesa
From the Daily Sentinel in Denver. "A CMU player, Harrison Evans, was injured after scoring the 52nd goal of the game, requiring him to be transported to a hospital, where he was examined and released, escaping serious injury, CMU coach Vince Smith said Wednesday."
Great news!!!

Westminster College (Utah) 9 Colorado Mesa 8
May I be the first to offer a hearty and most unsportsmanlike, but well deserved
I only watched this game to see Colorado Mesa lose.
