Rivers (8-2, 7-1 ISL) @ St. Seb's (11-0, 8-0 ISL): One of the big ones to decide the eventual top of the standings. Seb's are more explosive and have more "wow" talent. Rivers don't have any players averaging more than 3 points per game, but they do have eight players averaging at least 1.25 points per game. That's a good thing for them, as the Arrows defense can gobble up a team with 2-3 guys playing hero ball. A patient and balanced approach has a better shot. Rivers spoiled an undefeated ISL run for Seb's in 2017, can they pull it off again?

Lawrence Academy (7-6, 2-6 ISL) @ Thayer (3-6, 3-5 ISL): Thayer are gaining steam after a difficult early season schedule, while Lawrence have lost steam in ISL play after excelling through a soft early season schedule. Expect this to be fairly high scoring.

Berwick (2-6) @ Brooks (8-1, 7-1 ISL): Berwick has a not great record against not great competition, so I'm guessing Brooks coaches figure the bench can get a good amount of run. Always think it's risk playing non-league games the day before a big league game (Roxbury Latin), especially in a year that you're in contention.

Tabor (4-6, 2-6 ISL) @ Pomfret (9-2): Pomfret have a strong record and weak schedule. Lost to St. Mark's by five, and only interesting win is over an Exeter team that appears way down from last season. Tabor should get the win, but again how much might it affect tomorrow's performance against BB&N?

Friday Predictions
St. Seb's 10 - Rivers 9
Thayer 13 - Lawrence 9
Brooks 15 - Berwick 7
Tabor 10 - Pomfret 8
13-8 pomfret.

Friday Predictions -----> Results

St. Seb's 10 - Rivers 9 -----> St. Seb's 9 - Rivers 5: Rivers were up 5-1 late in the first half before Seb's D locked down and the offense began to methodically chip away. With two ISL losses Rivers probably need to win out and have some scoreboard luck for a shot at a shared title. Seb's will have a big test next Saturday hosting Govs.

Thayer 13 - Lawrence 9 -----> Lawrence 11 - Thayer 10 (OT): Tied at the half, and Thayer were up 8-6 after the 3rd. Nice comeback and ISL win for LA.

Brooks 15 - Berwick 7 -----> Brooks 11 - Berwick 5: Brooks tweeted "Great effort from every player on the roster!" with the score, so it looks like they went to the roster early.

Tabor 10 - Pomfret 8 -----> Pomfret 13 - Tabor 8: Got the 8 right... for the wrong team. Hats off to a Pomfret team I underestimated.

Yesterday's results

Belmont Hill 14 - St. George's 2
Govs 14 - Milton 4
Roxbury Latin 9 - Brooks 7
Nobles 9 - St. Mark's 4
Middlesex 8 - Groton 6
Tabor 10 -BB&N 6

About what you'd expect from BH and Govs. Brooks get their second ISL loss, and with Middlesex, Seb's, BH, and Govs remaining, the last three weeks of league play could get bumpy. Nobles continue to gain steam but still haven't beaten a team with a winning record. Mx-Groton and Tabor-BB&N look to have been competitive match ups.

Quick look at today's games.

Game of the Day - Belmont Hill @ Nobles: Nobles have won 7 of their last 8, and should have a big possession advantage over a BH offense that hasn't been humming this season. Still, Nobles don't have any impressive wins, and I see their freshman and soph starting at attack getting eaten up by one of the most intimidating defenses in the state. Low scoring but I give BH the edge.

St. Seb's @ Milton: I expect Seb's to prove 5+ goals better over four quarters in their final tune up before Govs.

Tabor @ Govs: Pretty much same thoughts as Seb's-Milton, with Govs having the advantage.

Rivers @ St. George's: Rivers should be able to take out their frustrations after losing to Seb's and get the offense back on track before BH this weekend.

Brooks @ Lawrence: Brooks look to rebound after a tough loss, LA look to build after a big win. Might be close despite the distance in the standings.

Middlesex @ Roxbury Latin:
Nice match up here with two young teams in the mix. I'm going with the idea that RL is the team that nobody wants to play in May.

BB&N @ Groton: Most likely a low scoring affair. Groton gets this one by 2-3.

Thayer @ St. Mark's: Very similar records against similar competition. Coin flip to the home team.

Today's results

Belmont Hill 10 - Nobles 7: Tied at the half, but BH scored the first five of the second half.
St. Seb's 12 - Milton 7: Milton scored the first two of the game before Seb's scored 10 of the next 11.
Govs 11 - Tabor 9: Nothing to go off but the final score. Looks like a solid showing for the Seawolves. This game was played for multiple years before Tabor joined the league, so probably a bit more of a rivalry there than with the rest of the ISL.
Rivers 13 - St.George's 6: Rivers take care of business before Belmont Hill on Saturday. St. George's will have their best shot at an ISL win when BB&N visits Newport.
Brooks 7 - Lawrence 6: Brooks scored twice in the final two minutes to tie and then get the winning goal.
Middlesex 10 - Roxbury Latin 6: Nice win for the Zebras. Only team to drop double digits on RL so far.
Groton 8 - BB&N 3: Groton defense is solid. Sixth win of the season and they're yet to reach 10 goals in a game.
St. Mark's 12 - Thayer 8: The Lions outscored the Tigers 8-3 in the second half.

Two huge games today that will shape the title race of the last two weeks in Govs @ St. Seb's and Rivers @ Belmont Hill. Some other nice match ups that will either help sort, or further muddle, the middle of the pack.

Govs (10-2, 9-1 ISL) @ St. Seb's (13-0, 10-0 ISL): No big weaknesses for either team, just relative strengths. I'd give Seb's a slight edge for longsticks and attack, while Govs have more skill/scoring pop in the midfield. No idea if Laliberte has any shot at returning (at any point), but either way there will be a boatload of future college lacrosse players and athletes suiting up. I'd lean a little towards Seb's but a loss really ruins Govs title hopes, and that do or die nature makes this a coin flip.

Rivers (11-3, 8-2 ISL) @ Belmont Hill (10-1, 9-1 ISL): These teams look a lot alike this season. Some really talented poles on both sides, and some strong two-way middies who've had to help bring along young/inexperienced attack. They also both lack a FOGO/FOSO, and struggle at faceoffs. BH have won this somewhat comfortably the past two seasons, but it looks like they can be had when looking at Rivers' depth. Still, even without a juggernaut offense BH have managed to go 2-3 against Avon, Govs, and Seb's. Tough to bet against that. Razor thin, like Seb's/Govs, and could be separated by the little stuff like GBs, penalties, and goalie play.

Thayer (3-8, 3-7 ISL) @ Brooks (10-2 @ 8-2 ISL): Brooks face Thayer, Andover, and Middlesex in the span of five days, and end the season with Seb's, Govs, Belmont Hill. Could be a bumpy finish so they need to set the tone for the final stretch today.

Tabor (6-7, 4-6 ISL) @ Nobles (7-6, 7-3 ISL): With how much each of these teams will bring back next year, I almost look at this as game one of a two game series. Should be tight.

BB&N (1-11, 1-9 ISL) @ Middlesex (6-7, 5-5 ISL): BB&N have scrapped but it hasn't translated into wins. Middlesex should carry the day and have the chance to do some spoiling in the final two weeks with Brooks, Govs, and Belmont Hill still on the schedule.

Lawrence (8-7, 3-7 ISL) @ Roxbury Latin (6-6, 4-6 ISL): RL's collection of poles should be able to gobble up LA's offense, but will RL be able to score at least 8 goals? They're 5-1 when they have.

St. George's (2-12, 0-10 ISL) @ Groton (6-6, 4-6 ISL): One of the rougher road trips in the ISL. Groton have one of the stingiest defenses in the league, and St. G's are only averaging 4.6 gpg against ISL opponents.

Milton (4-8, 3-7 ISL) @ St. Mark's (4-7, 3-7 ISL): Two teams I really can't get a handle on. St. Mark's have played some of the ISL's best quite close, and Milton have had some monstrous outputs on offense, but inconsistency has plagued both teams.

Seb's and Belmont Hill both winners in OT. Top of the heap games did not disappoint. With two week and four league games remaining here's how it looks for the leaders.

St. Seb's (11-0 ISL): If they can hold serve through their final four games (St. Mark's, Brooks, Thayer, Roxbury Latin) they'll be solo champs and the first squad to run the table since Govs in 2011. No cakewalk, and they can afford to drop one and still be co-champs, but the Arrows will be 3-5 goal favorites in all of those match ups.

Belmont Hill (10-1 ISL): The cardiac kids. Did some quick research, BH are 11-2 in one-goal games over the past five seasons. Big part of the reason they're always in this discussion at this point in the season. They'll need to win out and are favored against (Groton, Middlesex, Brooks, BB&N) and hope Seb's stumble.

Govs (9-2 ISL): Looked like a gutsy comeback against Seb's with O'Leary scoring three in a row. Unfortunately their hopes of an a title are all but gone after losing to Seb's. They'll be tested to hang onto to a clean third place finish with Nobles, Thayer, Brooks, and Middlesex remaining.

Brooks (9-2 ISL): Same spot as Govs in terms of needing Seb's and Belmont Hill to falter. They'll get to play a role in that, but have to make sure not to falter themselves with Andover, Middlesex, Seb's, Govs, and Belmont hill remaining.

Rivers (8-3 ISL): Very strong team this season, but Seb's, BH, and Govs all proved just a bit stronger. Another tough close out with RL, Lawrence, Groton and Nobles remaining.

Today's scores plus the game-winner for Seb's over Govs from Duke-bound Mike Swirbalus: https://twitter.com/FirstScoutTV/status ... 8441455616

Brooks 8 - Thayer 7: Brooks held a 6-3 lead after three.
Roxbury Latin 16 - Lawrence 4: Did not see that offensive explosion coming from RL. They be real tough to beat in the final four games if there offense starts humming.
Nobles 8 - Tabor 5: 4-4 at the end of three. Nobles appear to have controlled the 4th quarter.
Groton 15 - St. George's: The Zebras first game hitting double digits. Big game at Belmont Hill on Wednesday.
Middlesex 15 - BB&N 6: Middlesex highest tally of the year. Good time to be peaking with Brooks, Belmont Hill, and Govs as the next three.
Milton @ St. Mark's:
Looks like a Monday game.

Couple of games today.

Brooks 9 - Andover 7:
Nice win for the Bishops. Top half of the ISL has really caught and surpassed Andover/Exeter in the past few years. Big test against Middlesex on Wednesday.

St. Mark's 15 - Milton 9:
Sun was shining for the Lions offense on a rainy day. Nice confidence-building ISL win before heading to Seb's on Wednesday.

Missed one

Roxbury Latin 5 - Rivers 4: Great win for RL, TOUGH draw for Rivers. Belmont Hill and RL in consecutive games is tough regardless. When you add in that it's Saturday and Monday games, with no chance to practice in between because Sunday/Mother's Day, and the Saturday game was a heartbreaking/title hope dashing OT loss... and I'm surprised Rivers only lost by one.

St. Mark's @ St. Seb's: Seb's have four games in eight days and will get the kitchen sink thrown at them in each of them. St. Mark's gets the first shot, a young squad that could set the tone for next year with a big win. Their offense has shown some pop lately, but have been held in check by the stronger defenses this season. If Seb's come out loose they could absolutely run St. Mark's into the ground, but will the prospect of perfection start to tighten things up?

Groton @ Belmont Hill: Groton's defense has been really strong this season, but I'm not sure they have enough on the other side of the ball to really challenge a BH defense that might have the best 6v6 personnel in the league. Like St. Mark's, this is a young Groton squad that could use a signature win as a building block towards next year.

Nobles @ Govs: tough draw for Govs after an emotional loss to Seb's on Saturday. Also looked like Flaherty might have tweaked something on that final play. Injury bug has taken a big bite out of the Red Dogs this year. Staying with my youth being served trend, great spot for a young Nobles team to pull the upset and signal that the Bulldogs will be among the top dogs in 2020.

Middlesex @ Brooks: Third game in five days for Brooks. 11 weeks into the season, as long as you avoid injuries, playing games is probably helping development more than practice - especially in a no scout league. Brooks can secure 10 wins in the ISL, which is a pretty big accomplishment for that program. It won't get any easier to reach 10 if they lose with Seb's, Govs, and BH remaining.

Lawrence @ Rivers: Rivers are coming off two gut punch losses, and Lawrence a punch in mouth. I think the Red Wings show some pride in this one and beat up on LA a bit.

Roxbury Latin @ Thayer: After a nice win on Monday RL can continue building momentum towards a potentially huge one against Seb's next Wednesday.

Milton @ Tabor: After a tough start, Tabor have a chance to end strong with Milton, St. George's, St. Mark's, and Lawrence Academy to end wrap things up. Another young team that can build momentum for 2020.

Fair point Cam. Especially after Brooks' took out Thayer, Andover, and Middlesex in the span of five days.

Here's a quick look at yesterday's results.

St. Seb's 16 - St. Mark's 12: Seb's kept building big leads, and then St. Mark's would cut into it.

Groton 8 - Belmont Hill 6: Wow! Huge win for the Zebras. Anybody catch this one? Seb's now have a lot more breathing room in the title race.

Govs 12 - Nobles 10: Looked like this was pretty close throughout.

Brooks 7 - MIddlesex 6: Brooks secure the program's winningest season. Sounds like Hughes had a huge game at LSM.

Rivers 12 - Lawrence 2: Red Wings flex their muscles after a two tough losses back-to-back.

Thayer 8 - Roxbury Latin 6: Nice win for Thayer. Roxbury Latin's results have been all over the place in May.

Tabor 14 - Milton 13: Looks like it must have been a fun one.

BB&N 13 - St. George's 9: St. G's closest game in awhile... and it was still a 4-goal gap.

Quick look at Friday & Saturday games. Seb's need just one win in the next three to at least share the title, two wins for an outright title, and of course three out of three for the 15-0 run. Biggest test is probably on Saturday.

Brooks (10-2 ISL) @ St. Seb's (12-0): Could be real interesting. Brooks are rolling, but Seb's get at least a shared ISL title with the W.

Govs (10-2 ISL) @ Thayer (4-8 ISL): Govs should control this comfortably.

Middlesex (6-6 ISL) @ Belmont Hill (10-2 ISL): Nice match up here that could be pretty even. They've both played a lot of one-goal games. BH have won them, while Middlesex have lost them.

Rivers (9-4 ISL) @ Groton (6-6 ISL):
Two of the better defenses in the league. Might not reach 15 goals total.

Lawrence (3-9 ISL) @ Nobles (8-4 ISL): Nobles should win comfortably.

Roxbury Latin (6-7 ISL) @ St. Mark's (4-8 ISL): Tough one here. RL's results have been all over the place. St. Mark's have been competitive against the league's best. I'd lean Lions, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tabor (4-8 ISL) @ St. George's (0-12 ISL): Tabor should roll.

BB&N (2-10 ISL) @ Milton (3-9 ISL): BB&N struggle to score. Milton struggle to defend. Flip a coin.

Love seeing relative parity in the ISL this year, and nice to see Groton and Brooks having strong years. While it looks like a down year for Nobles and Rivers (relatively speaking), many of the top teams seem closer in skill than in the past. With some nice out of conference wins, I'd say the ISL is stronger across the board than it has been. The league has had stretches where one team was head and shoulders above the others--Herter's MX teams, Govs of the early 2010s, and Belmont Hill's run in the mid 2010s. Will be interesting to see if Sebs will run the table, and what they can do next year after graduating some serious talent.
