Grant Ament is sitting this game, at least, not seeing Ament in the stat line.

The bubble at Cleveland State was almost criminal. Was like playing lacrosse right at sunset. Disappointing for both sides. CSU did play well and out hustled PSU for the most part. PSU played last but was just better overall. Hoping and needing better on Sunday night.

If true, that is a real shame. Penn State is far from a one-man operation but Ament is a special player who has been having a special season.

State validates number one rank.

And Lions make a great case for top 3-5 seed
in NCAAs :!:

State’s highest seed in NCAAs is #7.

Ran away from the Terps early though they clawed their way back into it.

For the past several years, the Terps have been the 'most complete' team in my estimation. Or at least the squad that year in and year out has the fewest weak spots.

This year, it's been looking more and more that Tambroni has put together the most balanced group. Tonight Tambronis goalie saved everything he should have, his rope unit stood up well to the star-studded Terp offense, and his 6-6 offense (except for a few scrappy passes to the crease that looked ill-advised from the camera angle) held up against a VERY stout D unit.

Most important, they did this without any heroics or standouts. The team took what they earned and did it systematically.

PSU is my bet for Memorial Day champs until further notice. Only Yale and MD have the balance to challenge. Someone might get lit on fire (Loyola. maybe Duke, or the Buckeyes, or maybe Virginia can get their talent onto the same page on the right day), but based on what I've seen, I see PSU playing someone on a Monday.

If you could bottle Penn States first quarter, on both ends of the field, and replicate even half of it you are playing some great lacrosse. That was a thing of beauty.
Congrats on the first victory over Maryland. And credit Maryland to get it back to one. When the Terps starting playing their style of pick, back cut slip instead of trying to do Penn States version, they starting getting good looks. Maryland goalie Dolan helped, but to be honest, the PSU shooters helped him to look better.
Some interesting reffing going on this season, tonites game no exception. The Maryland player ......the ball carrier....litterally head butts the PSU defender, who gets a lock. Oh well, Terps didn't score on that one, I think.

Just a note: Dolan was 35% on the day. 7 saves.
Kneese only a smidge better at 41% also just 7 saves.

Dolan's, in the second quarter, save percentage was 100%. He was also part of the 100% (9 for 9) on clears in the second and third quarters. 50% save percentage in the 3rd quarter, for a nice 75% save percentage in the middle of the game, where Penn State could have really run away with it.

That's what I meant by helped.

Over 60 percent in faceoffs is huge in these games. If Penn state has that many more possessions with their offensive talent they will run win anybody
