Towson 2019
Re: Towson 2019
At large bid is a long shot. However, that RPI is large IF-IF Towson can win the CAA because they have a body of work w a higher RPI then other CAA teams. Good middies you mentioned but they were seniors w a resume . They are past the exploratory phase. These middies have 1-5 goals for the entire season. They had earlier success w certain players. Go back w what got ya here. Shooters shoot who can shoot. Two games remain in the season, no time for wishful thinking.

Re: Towson 2019
Expecting a great game this weekend. Need to have a good shooting day. Also a great goalie battle, will be a fun one to watch. If Towson drops another CAA game regular season At-Large is out.
Re: Towson 2019
I like the comparisons, but you can’t compare the 2017 team. They had so much experience.foreverlax wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:03 am Looking back at the '17 team vs this year -

Re: Towson 2019
Nads mentioned in his latest coaches report how the starting midfield shot 1 for 18 against UMass. Maloof is shooting 20.6%, Monahan 23.7% and Ey 17% on the season though former first-team middie Jake McLean is shooting a serviceable 29.4%, he's taken just 17 shots. He's playing less because he's out there on the wings on face-offs and getting back on D.

Any update on Woodall injury?
Re: Towson 2019
Looking now.
They played better when Woodall went out.
Woodall got hit, twisted up off his third face off, Hen D man just sort of nicked Woodall coming off a Woodall win, maybe a knee twist, or turned his ankle. Didn’t really look all that bad, precautionary, I’d presume.

Re: Towson 2019
According to Lacrosse Reference Towson’s RPI is 11. 3 top 20 W’s , 3 top 20 L’s
Re: Towson 2019
Tigers need UMass to sneak into the top 20 RPI, so that game is no longer a bad loss.
And also, Tigers might actually improve their at large chances by reaching the conference finals, but then losing to UMass.
And also, you need Hopkins and Georgetown to win a couple games, maybe each reaching their conference finals.
And also, Cornell needs to lose, for instance next week against Princeton.
Its crazy.
Or, Tigers could just win the conference tournament.

Re: Towson 2019
It would be nice to get an at-large but it's all about winning the CAA. It always is. That's the goal every year and this team is capable but I'm concerned about the defense and goaltending. The offense is going to have its ups and downs. The defense just hasn't been consistent over the last few weeks and you just can't blame turnovers or poor shot selection for giving up double digit goals. Canto came up with some big stops today but also had some shots he should have had. I expect some issues on offense but the fact that we had to go zone late in the game is a concern and it's not the only time we've gone zone this year to change things up.
Re: Towson 2019
Here are CAA playoff hosting scenarios. So realistically, if we can beat Drexel next week, we're still likely going up to Amherst again for the Trny and likely facing Delaware in the first round, just like last season (OT win). I guess if everything goes our way, a loss to UMass in the final could mean an at-large. But who wants that? What would a CAA Trny win mean up at UMass?

Re: Towson 2019
Woodall got checked in the jaw. Dislocated and multiple chipped teeth. Backup fogo played great in his absence.
Re: Towson 2019
Must have been a freak accident.
Did not look nearly that bad in real time.
Tough luck.

This is deja vous all over again....hamstring in '17, now this. Really some bad luck.
Jr. McNallen comes off the bench (with a single career appearance vs Cornell, when he scored one goal and went 4 of 6 at the X) to win 14 of 23.
An unlikely hero keeps the Tigers in the hunt!!

IL says leg injury, which is what it looked like to me, leg, knee twist, or ankle roll.Alex Woodall, who was 5 for 5 before leaving the game in the first quarter with an injured leg.

Towson’s Alex Woodall, one of the most intriguing stories of the season, is listed as “day to day with an upper body injury.”

He has my sympathy. Dentists can work wonders, but the more of your natural teeth that you can keep intact, the better off you are, in the opinion of someone who has done his part to compensate oral surgeons and general dentists.
