Yuck.
I hope we keep UNC, although the JHU-UVa game corresponded to the weeked of UMd-UNC.

So UVa would be moving the Syracuse game from the first weekend in March, which corresponds to the UMd-ND match-up.

Of course, UVa will also be moving Notre Dame, who they played this past weekend, back, which would correspond to UMd-Villanova.

Catching up on former 2019 recruit Bryson Shaw from Bullis. This is not new news, but Shaw was just graded out by IL as a high 4 star lacrosse recruit.
But, Shaw did sign with Ohio State as a safety.
Shaw had committed to Terps for lacrosse, then decommitted. Shaw had previously committed to Wisconsin, received offers in football from Penn State and Duke.

11-3 Terps at the half.

DeMaio had a natural hat trick to start the game. Wisnauskas has 3 and 4 at the half. Austin Henningsen has worn out the Tar Heels. He's 13-16 at the X.

UNC has no answers right now. It was close at the end of the first (4-2 Terps), but the Terps completely dominated the 2nd quarter.

Terps win 16-9. Tillman literally played 4 corners in the 4th quarter, which allowed UNC to make this game look closer. UNC was uber aggressive and threw every kind of junk defense at the Terps. 10 man ride, even in the half field, shutting off adjacent passes, double poling the face off (Henningsen owned the X, 22-26), anything to create turnovers. Plus some good old thuggery that JHU fans noted. UNC defenseman Rowlett certainly didn't shed his goon reputation.

4 Terps had hat tricks with Logan Wisnauskas leading the way (4g, 4a). Bernhardt (3g, 1a), DeMaio (4g, 1a), and Dubick (3 g) did the damage. Danny Dolan had 12 saves.

Now that Quint won't be able to blather on about the lack of Maryland scoring depth, he'll harp on "playing a complete game."

In fairness to Squint, Tillman literally went into the 4 corners at the start of the 4th. Just sat back all quarter. The Terps could have scored 20 goals with how aggressive UNC was pressing out all over the field. He should have let the Terps net a few more until UNC called it off.

Tillman has never been big on running up the score. I think it is something people respect him for.
16-9 is not too shabby. :D

I'm not surprised by the outcome or that the score was kept under 20. Coach Tillman is a class act and so is Coach Breschi. Any kid playing for either of these coaches should be proud, although one is going to the postseason again and the other not.

The way Breschi continued to throw the sink at Maryland even under 5 minutes in the game you have to wonder what he was thinking. Rowlett hit DeMaio late and high, helmet-to-helmet after DeMaio scored the Terps' final goal. No call by the refs but clearly Rowlett was fired up. He then slashed Dubick on the leg 30 yards away from the goal. Finally, with 30 seconds left in the game, he slashed Zawadzki on the ankle, which the refs did call. Rowlett, as he's done in other games, regularly crosses the line between reckless and aggressive. What is Breschi doing keeping him in a blowout game when Maryland is playing stall ball and the game is out of hand with less than 5 minutes to go? Dude was hurting people and Breschi didn't do anything about it.

I get that Tillman doesn't want to run the score up, but at some point, the passive play against an over-aggressive team can lead to injuries. The only way to get UNC to call off the dogs was to punish them a couple of times with easy goals.

Good game. Dolan had a good games specially since he had the settings sun in his eyes. Offense flowed well.

Carolina defense got in several big hits on our inside shooters. Dubick got hit two times and both Roman and DiMaio had to leave the game from their hits. Athletic trainer did not let Roman go back in and ended up taking his helmet from him. Hope he is good to go next weekend.

Haven’t looked at ESPNU video but they did stick cameras in the middle of the stands to get better shots.

Maryland has open up the beer garden at the games.

Ryan Siracusa goal. Incoming recruit for next year

Ty Xanders also had Sawyer as one of his High School players who impressed:

Jack Sawyer ’19, A/M, Calvert Hall (Md.) — Maryland
Sawyer is the kind of initiator that the Cardinals needed after the graduation of Baltimore Sun Player of the Year Jacob Kelly, who now starts for UNC. A gutsy dodger who sells out for a lot of his goals, the future Terp darts through traffic and initiates traffic on his way to the cage. He projects as a midfielder at the next level, but is an attackman by trade, comfortable dodging from X, the wings and up top. He put up five goals against Hill Academy, following that up with a three-goal, three-assist performance in a 14-9 win over Malvern Prep.
Ty Xanders put up a new evaluation for Sawyer which has him at 89, which I think would relate to a top 20 type recruit.

Watching the partial replay and highlights of the Hill Academy game, Sawyer does look outstanding. We'll have to see how he does against the MIAA competition. By IL's schedule Calvert plays Boys' Latin on 3/29.

I'm not sure about the "projects as a midfielder". With Sawyer being a right-hander, he would seem to be in the running for Dubick's spot next Spring.

How big of a kid is he? How would you describe his athleticism?

I don't know. He looks of average build and average height (maybe 5'11 to 6').
Here is a highlight tape for the Calvert Hall - Hill game. Sawyer is wearing #6.

There is also a longer most of the game video on youtube.

Thanks. He has some quicks to him. Not afraid to get in close to the goal. He definitely benefit from adding some bulk. He does look more like a middie to me.
