Hobart 2019

Post by oldbartman »

Very sad to see Laxpower gone. I hope everyone migrates to these forums. On to the fallball season. The alumni v varsity game is Saturday, September 29 at noon. Time to show the young uys how to play.... I've heard we are playing at U Penn in October in a 3 or 4 team round robin. When I get more details, I will post them.

I heard a rumor that we may reinstate a JV team. Has anyone heard this? Any truth to it?

Also curious as to how the 2019 and 2020 recruiting is going. I've checked twitter but, nothing since Bobby Baltzer (2019)

New recruit for the 2019 class. Jack Grooms, an attackman from Section III Westhills. Helped his team make it to the NY State Class C championship game. Welcome to the family. It would be great to hear about more 2019 and any 2020 recruits.

Hobart is participating in the University City Classic at UPenn on Sunday, October 21. Other participants are UPenn (duh), Colgate, Delaware, Drexel, Lafayette, Robert Morris and Syracuse. Heard we scrimmage UPenn & Drexel, though that is not official.

Initial 2019 roster is up. No real information on the freshmen. Looks like Same Mueller is back.

For those that couldn't make the trip to Geneva this past weekend to see Coach Urick it was a special & long overdue tribute to a great man.
Seeing Scotty speak on behalf of his father brought chills to the crowd. I'm glad I was there to be a part of it.

IL article on the stadium dedication to Coach Urick. Good to see IL giving Coach Urick and Hobart some props. Who knows, maybe IL will be a bit more positive to Hobart this season. Of course we have to back it up with a good season/record.

A (incomplete) recruit update. All gleaned from Twitter. Since LP's demise, IL has tried to pick up the slack. A lot of recruits have NOT submitted their commitments to IL and chosen Twitter or Instagram. Here are a few fairly recent ones.

John Herlihy 2019 Mid, Lincoln Sudbury MA
Jack Grooms 2019 Att, Westhill NY
Adam Davis 2019 Att/Mid, Baldwinsville NY
Adam Shea 2019 FO/Mid, Page HS, NC.

IL list

I haven't found any 2020 commits, but I'm sure the coaches are working hard on that as I write this. Next Sunday (Oct 21) Hobart is participating in a fall ball scrimmage at UPenn. There are 6 (?) other teams . From what I've heard, Hobart will scrimmage a very good UPenn team and either Drexel or Delaware. If anyone goes, any insights or observations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys - thx to OB for pointing me (fka LA Statesman) to this new spot.

So, any chance our crack athletics comm dept posts the 2019 schedule sometime before the end of 2018? Here's to hoping for a much better lax season in 2019.

And go Herons Soccer!

At least we know one opponent for the 2019 season. Hobart is playing Vermont at New Canaan HS on 3/9/19. I haven't seen any other dates. Anyone?

Still haven't seen anything. Not sure if it's the NEC or the school's themselves holding up the release? WS Lax has their 2019 schedule up, not sure why H lax doesn't?

Well, at least we know our first real game opponent for the 2019 season. We play Canisius at home on 2/9/19. Of of course, CNY weather permitting.

Nice article about Bryan Hancock. Hope he has a great senior year.

Also, we know who our end of the regular season opponent is, Robert Morris. RMU is getting a good deal of press about being the dark horse for this season.

2019 schedule has been released. We replace Georgetown and PSU with Vermont and St. Bonnies . Personally, I'd rather see the team keep the Hoyas and the Nittany Lions. No offense to our new additions.

Looks like 7-7 to me. Really depends on if this team can win some NEC games, which they just couldn’t last season.
