Correct. This is a Keeper League.

Until we hear differently (from someone), we'll do last to first. In terms of all in one night or over several months, poll may be best for that. open to both.

What does that mean?
Meaning like everyone starts with a blank team and every player is available. I know that’s not what we want to do (at least I think it is) so I think we go last to first.
We've switched the way we draft in the past without re-drafting. We live with it. I've had one top 5 pick ever. You do the best you can with what you have.

i understand that - i've only been in it the last 2 years and it's always been last to first - the new teams that joined this past year had the top 4 picks this year if i'm not mistaken. i'm just adding my 2 cents on it. when i think keeper leagues i think of drafts based on standings. football and baseball go off standings, no? hockey and basketball do the lottery, which is the other option.

I am fine going last to first as well (I don't think I have ever had a top 5 pick...). That being said, I liked the longer drawn out draft. Gave me something to check all fall.

For now, Draft will start in the Fall and we'll go from last place to first. in other words, same as this past season.

That first pick has gotten pretty damn obvious in the last few days :o likely to be the new best player in the fantasy league

If self interest prevailed I would oppose last to first but I think it’s in the best interest of the league to go last to first. I might have had a too 5 pick. Don’t recall.

I like the long draft but would like to require picks be made within a calendar day.

I have gotten to distant from the game to draft well without major effort.

My best draft and teams were keyed by picks around 8. Lately I have not been optimal in my picks. I lose a ton this year so maybe I will earn a top pick next year.

I think we had some people not drafting in order to gain an advantage. What I am suggesting is if no pick is made its lost until the end of the draft

I don't object to a "no catching up" policy, but if we're going to go that route, I would suggest you only lose the "catch-up pick" if it's not exercised within 24 (or 48) hours of when your pick was due. In other words, if I miss my 24-hour window, I have until 24 hours of when my window closed to make my pick. That way, there's some leeway for being unconnected or preoccupied for a couple of days, as opposed to purposely stalling to await roster appearance of a transfer or a new freshman. Easy enough to police this, given time-and-date-stamping on picks (shouldn't be any extra trouble for admin).

I don't see a reason to punish those who purposefully don't draft in order to pick up a possible transfer. It's a risk on their part and more than one fantasy coach can adopt the strategy and make it less of an attractive strategy for the first coach attempting it. Also, I think we may need to clarify who is eligible to be drafted. When we started our draft, plenty of rosters weren't updated, but we were still able to draft those players, but then FCA wasn't allowed to draft Nick DeMaio because he wasn't on UMD's roster. Also, it was Nick DeMaio and maybe this is harsh, but who cares who drafts him?

Greenie, good idea. Good half-way answer. Coach has 24-48 hours to catch-up. Then the coach loses their pick.

Greenie, very fair, we can all get a little jammed, preoccupied or just plain space out. I like your suggestion.
