Re: Centennial Conference 2021

My sense is the latter - framed out a handful of games early and then had to conform to the CC decisions.

Re: Centennial Conference 2021

I believe it is simply a response to the Centennial Conference rules and regulations - War on the Shore was scheduled but when CC decided to allow for the conference as a whole to play then out-of-conference games were prohibited. Game cancelled in turn.

Re: Washington College 2020

There is a lot of youth and they have been hit hard by injuries and illness. No team is immune to those things so I'm not saying WAC is alone in dealing with health challenges, and you can take any number of positions on the youth movement. But the effort is there within the team.

Re: Washington College 2020

Certainly don't take issue with all of your points, but smaller liberal arts colleges are almost universally having to turn to their alumni bases for support. That's fundraising in higher education, particularly private schools. That said, want to see WAC compete within that environment.

Re: W&L vs Washington College

WAC has a very young team but I think there is some talent to build on. Don't know that the wins will be there immediately, but I think there will be improvement over the course of the season. Another strong, deep class next year and you'll see a jump forward I as a program. Though both teams are wi...

Re: Washington College 2020

A much more narrow perspective - there are a lot of youth on the field thus far this year. That could be indicative of many things and could mean any number of things going forward.

Re: Washington College 2020

Well said.

The scrimmage v VMI does represent the only preseason work for the team - WAC hosts this Saturday rather than travels.

Re: Washington College 2020

Shoremen scrimmage VMI in the coming weeks, perhaps another school another school as well. Don't recall the details but one or some opportunities to get a feel for things before the season opener on 2/15 - CNU.

Re: Washington College 2020

The roster shows 17 current freshmen. From a numbers perspective, that represents a sizable cohort of kids. 'Thin class' might be a reference to next year's freshmen class or talent, but the numbers are good as far as freshmen on campus now goes.

Re: Washington College 2019

Is this known to be an issue or presumed to be an issue? Not being able to get kids interested is one thing, having kids interested and losing that interest over financial aid packages that aren't competitive is another. I recall reading that recruiting seemed to be ticking up for Wac and I hope tha...

Re: Washington College 2019

This thread has read like the John’s Hopkins one on the D1 forum for most of the year but the Jays got hot in the last week. Few key wins changes everything.

Re: Washington College 2019

My understanding is that a WAC win over Gettysburg and a Dickinson loss to Ursinus is the combination that gets the boys into the conference playoffs. Tall task but hopefully not an impossible one.

Re: Centennial Conference 2019

Gettysburg/McDaniel, FM/Dickinson, Ursinus/Muhlenburg, WAC/Swarthmore on the slate tonight.

FM and Dickinson the obvious match-up of the heavier hitters, but I'm sure that Muhlenburg has designs on making some noise.

Re: Centennial Conference 2019

Doesn't look as though any of the conference heavyweights are going at it this weekend - will be interesting to see if anyone can snatch an unexpected win. Gettysburg got a scare from Muhlenberg last weekend - maybe Swat can do what they didn't this weekend...

Re: Washington College 2019

What would better support from the school look like? That's not a shot at the poster who suggested it wasn't adequate - I just don't know what that means on a day to day basis. The facilities are certainly what you'd expect from a program that seeks to be competitive, continuity in coaching staff wh...

Re: Washington College 2019

Any number of ways to spin this, but success within any given program is based on the following: - ability to attract 'talent' - gritty, athletic kids who love the game and want to work at it - facilitation of a year long program that develops players individually and as a cohort - game day planning...
