Re: Transfer Portal
All of this back and forth about who has it the toughest, or who got screwed the most, HS kids or college kids really doesn't matter. Someone else said it, but HS and college kids alike have an unfortunate situation that they have to navigate around just like everyone out there in the world. This is...

Re: Transfer Portal
Ohio State’s Christian Tomei has announced that he has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. https://lacrossebucket.com/2020/03/31/ohio-states-christian-tomei-enters-the-ncaa-transfer-portal/ The bio that was attached to the above post included the following: He also earned first-team all-state and all...

Re: Transfer Portal
Source tells @TheAthleticCFB that the NCAA Division I Council has approved blanket waiver for all spring-sport athletes to get an extra year of eligibility. Schools will be able to offer less (or zero) aid or match what they provided this year. Up to each school for each athlete. https://twitter.co...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
some great thoughts and comments from the last handful of posts. The only thing I wonder is that some are saying the money is not that big of a deal for too many of the players. I can tell you that if my kids lose any of their Athletic Scholarship, they will not be able to attend and play at the col...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
+1 Thorough analysis. The only aspect I think you understated somewhat is that current Fr/So/Jr have plenty of time to PLAN on a 5 yr arrangement (either 3-2 or 4+1). Correct - it's roses and sunshine for the current college Fr/So/Jr who have plenty of time to plan out their 5th year. In addition t...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
If given a choice, I think HC's will invest their scholarship $ in extending/rewarding their proven '20 - '23 players for a 5th yr (via a smaller 2022 class) vs recruiting a normal sized 2022 class. Of course they will. That's why they can't go this way, it's a huge burden placed on the 2022 class ...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
Just because the current college frosh, soph, and juniors now have an extra year of eligibility doesn't mean they will automatically get money either. Really, I think this is going to really truly be competition for money the next couple of years. You will start seeing current freshman, sophomores, ...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
When I listened to Coach Tiffany's interview I came away with a couple of things. When he spoke about how scholarships would be handed out, he stated what every coach is going to do and the decisions they have to make based on the needs of the team and how good a player is. Very honest. I like that....

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
I would agree that you either give everyone an extra year or no one an extra year. Question. Isn’t athletic scholarships year to year. So even if you sign your letter of intent for $20,000 a year athletic scholarship. Couldn’t that be reduced before your sophomore year? Thanks n other words change o...

Can you still red shirt if you played in a scrimmage this spring but didn’t play in any real games? Or do you lose the option to redshirt if you play in a scrimmage this spring

Re: Ivy League 2020
I will try to explain the idea of missing two fall semesters to get a fifth year. A four year degree=8 semesters of classes and tuition Take this year, the season is cancelled so it counts as 0 years lax and one year(2 semesters) tuition. If you want four years of lax you need four more semesters o...

Re: Ivy League 2020
If the NCAA made some kind of exception to let them red shirt and play next year, wouldn't they need to do that for all of the athletes in College, not just the Seniors. Although it would be the most disappointing to lose this year being a senior, everyone else is losing a year as well. So would nee...

Re: New England West 2020
I'll agree to disagree with some on the tourney. It would be tremendously exciting and the kids would love it. Yes, it is frustrating to be the best team throughout the season and the not be crowned champ because of one slipup in May but it is also very frustrating to be co-champs after a regular s...

Re: New England West 2020
I can appreciate and understand that there are some that either don’t want a tournament, or don’t care. Heck, I think that a season long league title is ore valuable and important than winning an end of year tournament. With that said, the point is that an end of year tournament would be really exci...

Re: Maryland 2020
I can tell you from experience that the acceptance rate for a lacrosse player that they want is very high. One of the first things Petro asks for from a potential recruit are his transcripts. As do almost all of the coaches. With that said, he can get in most of the players he wants to bring in. I a...
