Wingate beat Belmont Abbey by a lot on Saturday.
Think Wingate was up 12 at one point when it was still starters vs starters. Not sure if it says more about Wingate or BA...

Re: Pre-Season Scrimmages
Was 4-1 after a quarter and 9-2 at the half I'm told.
Wingate beat Mount St. Mary's in a scrimmage on Saturday.

Re: 2023 Preseason Top 20
Lenoir-Rhyne had a couple of transfers this year who should contribute. Rob Pensabene (Cabrini) and Nolan Hoffman (Colorado Mesa) both are fighting to be the starting goalie. Colton Padgett (Cabrini) will play for the defense and Riley Seay (Loyola) will start at either Attack or Midfield. Wingate h...

Re: D2 Spring Schedules
I know its Fall Ball and not a perfect barometer, but like NCLax said-Wingate beat Barton by about 15 in their scrimmage.

Re: Fall Ball Games
Wingate hosted a scrimmage day with Belmont Abbey and Lander this past Saturday. Bulldogs beat up on Belmont Abbey 14-3 or 14-4. Think it was 6-1 after a quarter. Wingate subbed liberally in the second half. They also handled Lander 15-6 I believe was the final. The offense for Wingate is going to b...

Re: Sunshine State Conference (SSC)
Yes Embry-Riddle has terrific Aeronnautical program and Aerospace program, but they also have mechanical/computer/electrical engineering. They also have a business school. Its not just pilots anymore.

Re: SAC
The Queens facility is at the edge of a county/city park and was located there due to lack of on-campus space. A pretty decent facility even if a bit of a drive (the time to get there reflects local Charlotte traffic, not a long distance). The field/stadium is shared with soccer, and field hockey h...

Re: Sunshine State Conference (SSC)
Embry Riddle is in its 5th season now and still at the bottom. No excuse for that . Embry is a difficult school to recruit to ... aerospace majors and future pilots. The rest of the SSC has bottom-barrel academic standards. Rollins absolutely does NOT have bottom-barrel Academic standards. Neither ...

Re: SAC
With Queens location facilities and academics no reason to not be competing for SAC title every year. In 16 they played mostly freshmen and lost by a goal late to LR. Coaching changes in 17 made at Queens and Wingate made the difference. Queens also brought in a strong class in 17 to add to freshma...

Re: SAC
Surprised to see Queens drop to 4 after years at 1 or 2. Program has slipped for sure I don't know if Queens has dropped as much as the other programs have improved and Queens hasn't been able to keep up. For the first couple of years with the SAC the top teams were Queens, Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhy...

Re: New programs
I don't know if you will see an AQ's in D2. One of the core aspects of D2 compared to D1 and D3 is the regional model that they employ. Would I like to see the tournament grow? absolutely. I think their should be 8 teams in the north who make and 8 in the south but I doubt they add AQ's.

Heard from some people who applied that they were informed that a hire had been made already. Odd that it hasn't been announced who it is yet.

Re: Way to Early Rankings
If I was to pick my preseason rankings for the SSC this season... 1. Tampa-think Clarke is EXACTLY what they needed. Lots of talent on the roster and his experience will pay huge dividends. 2. Rollins-return a solid amount of offensive guys, and a lot of the defense. Played Tampa tough in a fall scr...

Re: UTampa
Clarke has kept Sullivan on an Assistant Coach, as well as Kew as a grad assistant and Henrie at the Director of Opertations. Brought on Scott Bramble as a volunteer coach (they coached together for a number of years at WAC) to help instill his culture. No more JV coaches as they have done away with...

Re: Lenoir-Rhyne 2022
Solid schedule for LR in 2022. Not as tough as in some years past, but playing UIndy and Belmont Abbey out of conference will be good games for them. LR wrapped up fall ball recently by beating the alums in the Alumni Game and then crushing MCLA power South Carolina in a scrimmage 17-5. Against USC ...

Re: SAC
2021 was a Banner year for the SAC. Two programs made the NCAA tournament and both got wins and met in the National Semis. LR went on to the programs first National Title game appearance. 2022 Projected Standings: 1. Wingate: return the most and have been recruiting really well. 2. Lenoir-Rhyne: Som...

Re: Coaching Carousel
Tampa is doing away with the JV program. Coach Clarke already informed the players. He will still keep a larger roster (60-70 kids) like he did at Limestone, but they will not have a JV program.

Re: Limestone University 2021
I think they go one of 3 routes... Barrett from Belmont Abbey makes a lot of sense. Have heard he was a finalist for the Tampa job. Has been very successful at Belmont Abbey and is a Limestone alum. Storrier from Mars Hill wouldn't wow people but also makes sense. Former assistant under Clarke who w...

Re: Coaching Carousel
I spoke with some UT alumni this week, apparently there’s a divide between alum over two potential candidates. It also sounds like a lot of the outside noise and speculation isn’t true and they do not “have their guy” AD does want to move quickly and have some one in place by the end of the month. ...
