Re: SF #6 Virginia vs #7 Maryland Saturday @2:30

Maryland doubled up a potent offense by going against an Ivy defense. Maryland has a 1/3 chance of winning. Whether that counts as "great" is a matter of opinion and reflects your analysis that Maryland needs its to best players to perform to win whereas Virginia is less dependent on any ...

Re: SF #6 Virginia vs #7 Maryland Saturday @2:30

This will be Virginia in a big way. Maryland can not stay with them offensively. Maryland doubled up a potent Princeton offense. Maryland requires two critical pieces to thrive: FOGO and goalie play. If they get those, they can win and it shouldn’t surprise you. Might not be a blowout, but they abs...

Re: SF #6 Virginia vs #7 Maryland Saturday @2:30

Maryland is advantaged at fogo and goalie so favor Maryland if they handle VA ride UVA aggressive d approach is rather undisciplined and vulnerable to heady teams especially if they have speed to capitalize on afforded openings In their season meeting, McNaney did not outperform Nunes…at all. And G...

It’s a great town and a great area and a great university. It’s an easy sale to athletes imo.

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024

Matt Brandau deserves the Tewaaraton award for being the best player this season. The fact that his team didn’t make the tournament should have no bearing on this. Give him the Tewey and then give an award to tournament MVP and be done with it. Liam Entenmann listed as a finalist is just absurd. Pu...

Re: QF #4 Syracuse vs #5 Denver Sunday @ noon

Two things I noticed yesterday about SU: 1- Spallina was frequently invisible. Seemed like he spent much of the game behind the cage backing up shots. Struck me as strange. Contrast that with Shellenberger and Millon taking turns grabbing the mic during the UVA game. Very different. 2- The SU d-mid...

Re: UVA 2024

I think Morris starts. It’s one thing to pull the starting goalie in the second half of a blowout. Nunes was pulled after giving up four goals in half a quarter in a game that was decided by one. The conventional wisdom said that while Nunes was susceptible to giving up goals in bunches, he was far...

... If there was any doubt who’s going to be the ignition for UVA next year, there isn’t any more. Millon took over for most of the game for the Hoos. Shelley when it counted most... I was impressed by how both took the microphone at any given moment but neither did it selfishly. That's a skill. Be...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2025

I’m curious if Gelinas or Verdi can make the jump after being mentored by Ierlan for a year. Webb maybe but I am biased against smaller goalies. Is there an incoming frosh goalie who could step in? I’d really like to go back to the days when Hopkins was a goalie school Well, reportedly BK is doing ...

Re: UVA 2024

From where I'm sitting, what JHU and SU were missing (and Denver as well for that matter) is a player that'll consistently ignite the offense. Strange to watch Joey Spallina stand behind the cage backing up shots all game. UVA, on the other hand, has two: Shellenberger and Millon. Two unique player...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024

Shelley preserves his chances. Solid game, but Wayer the best player for Virginia today. Tip the cap to the 2nd goalie That second goalie was playing in front of his hometown. Probably meant more to him than we can appreciate. Question: does Lars start him versus Maryland? Wondering the same thing....
