Re: York 2024
Don’t blame the OC and if you’re gonna criticize any coaches, include the HC too. He can’t get all the credit in good times but no blame in bad. He runs the team. The problem is that the offensive guys can’t or aren’t beating their defenders on the dodge so the D never has to slide or move. Way too ...

Re: York 2023
Leadership is action not position and self-awareness gives you the capacity to learn from your mistakes as well as your successes.

Re: York 2023
Well… last year they beat WL, this year they lost Last year they played Salisbury even but for a 3 goal gulls spurt spurt in the 2nd, I believe during an an unreadable penalty Last year Rit was MUCH better than early this year and but for a slow 1-6 start, each quarter was a one goal difference. Las...

Re: York 2023
agree with these comments. Not nearly enough ball movement. I have to assume the players did what they were told to do, but if they were told to try to dodge and try to consistently win 1v1s, poor planning that makes no sense. Might work in the MAC, but not against teams like Tufts. Ball movement re...

Re: York 2023
Putting aside the polls' impact (or lack of) on NCAA selection, the rankings from 6-15 or so are very difficult this year. I don't think anyone can say York is or isn't definitely 8-10. After the top 5, there are about a bunch of teams that seem fairly lumped together who beat one another and/or had...

Re: MAC 2023
Mayer is very good, but Harnick is having a much better and an outstanding season which I do not credit solely due to the factors mentioned. And far fewer turnovers. As for MAC Coach of the Year, I have some doubts. York's wins are all against teams they were expected to and should beat, but they ha...

Re: York 2023
Very rose colored glasses. Reality says W&L game was very bad throughout and just awful in last half of fourth (but first game); Salisbury was never close (Facciponti made made it seem closer than it was); Amherst played without one of its best attackmen I think; and Rit and Gettysburg probably ...

Re: York 2023
Impossible to get any kind of barometer from these MAC games. I wish some of the tough OOC schedule was sprinkled throughout the season rather than being so front loaded. Only possibly challenging games will be Stevenson, which should pose no threat if York wants to be considered for real. Wasn’t im...

Re: York 2023
Agree completely. Have to make sure they play correctly and not just pad stats with one on one play that doesn’t necessarily work against the better teams (ie that they’ve lost to). 2021 - destroyed the Mac except blip against Stevenson (later avenged 11-0). Close win vs F&M and then rolled by t...

Re: Game of the week
Let's be serious. 18-22 year olds are not 13-14 year olds. By 18-22, they are young adults who either have or have not learned to control their emotions. This learning process starts much earlier than college. It starts with the parents and family and then with youth, school and club coaches. If the...

Re: York 2023
Third quarter killed them. Gburg took the game there. Need to change the halftime pep talk I think. Ethan Greene was awesome all game and almost single handedly got them to OT. York is good but has lost to every other “good” team they’ve faced, “good” being a relative term and referring to highly ra...

Re: Game of the week
What appeared to be the entire CNU team runs over and celebrates in front of and taunts the LC student section ... classless. And I'm not sure how the guys on the bench who never sniffed the field feel good doing that. I remember the way a number of CNU fans/parents acted with some not-so-sportsmanl...

Re: York 2023
Hard to tell how they’re playing in nearly all of the Mac games. Only Gettysburg, Denison and Stevenson matter really in terms of gauging how they’re playing. The rest ought to be easy wins or it’ll suggest a big problem. Mac great for automatic bid purposes but not so good for more enjoyable and co...

I see it as:

5. Amherst
6. Salisbury

9-13 but order is interchangeable
9. St Lawrence
10. Denison
11. York

Re: York 2023
Gettysburg ought to be a good, competitive game that could go either way, but not sure on what basis York will be favored (except simple Home Field Adv.). Gettysburg beat 2 teams that beat York. And a winning streak over the next three weeks will be against much weaker opponents. That being said, th...

Re: Game of the week
In fairness, it’s more refined than that. For instance 5-0 Kean is listed at #55 presumably because Kean beat weak teams. However, it proves the irrelevance of such a system, at least early in the season. I think a lot will shake out this weekend given the number of quality (or seemingly quality) ma...

Re: York 2023
Yes, a tough day. And at the risk of being repetitive, they need to be near perfect to have a chance to beat a top team. Still too many unforced mistakes. Although they hung in there today, it never felt like they were turning the tide and taking control. Pros: Facciponti - kept them somewhat in it ...

Re: York 2023
Rankings - legitimately based in part on last year, but who really cares right now? What follows are not rankings, just observations. Rit - to my eye, not what they were, but still very very good. Salisbury - very good, but also not what they've been. Hero ball and led by, surprise, attackman in his...

Re: York 2023
Why is it so hard to acknowledge that a good coach made a bad decision? Or that there may be a couple things that even a good coach can improve upon? No one is infallible. The York players played a great game against a team most people likely expected to handle them with less trouble. As in years pa...

Re: York 2023
I get the point on not calling a timeout, but completely disagree here. It is situational. There was no controlled break or anything that gave York the advantage. In fact, at least on video, it was 3 on 5 the entire time from when Mayer got the ball with 30 secs left until he lost it. I don't think ...
