Re: Yale 2019

Excellent analysis by both Mid-Lax and calourie. Calourie, nice and sharp-eyed pickup of DeMuth getting the start at close D. I had heard that the coaches were high on him coming out of fall ball so I wondered if we might see this move. As you say, that puts Weitzel back in his comfort zone as a top...

Re: Inside Lacrosse rankings

Yale had a solid win over Michigan and didn't hurt themselves, but I think Duke's win over Loyola (Duke's second top-5 win) will give the Blue Devils the rankings edge to jump to #1. I also think that after Cornell's thumping of Towson, Penn State's win over Cornell becomes even more valuable curren...

Re: Cornell 2019

WOW, what can you say about such a gutty team. After the Penn State game, to come out less than 48 hours later and play such a great game and OK, When was the last time we beat the #1? I cant remember. I believe Yale was ranked #1 going into the ILT final. Congratulations, super win over Towson tod...

Re: Ivy League 2019

Pretty solid Sunday for the Ivies as we move into conference play next weekend. Brown just missed upsetting UVA; Yale took care of Michigan in workmanlike fashion; and the big news of course was Cornell's huge bounce-back win against Towson (a decisive one at that) after laying an egg on Friday agai...

Re: Yale 2019

Nice to have a game that did not result in sustained bouts of high blood pressure -- good win by Yale overall. A few thoughts in no particular order without the benefit of a box score at this point: Strong offensive showing by the Elis -- something like 9-10 different goal-scorers for Yale; nice mid...

Re: Brown 2019

Argh! Tough OT loss for Brown. They played a great game overall against #13 UVA but couldn't close it out despite a tremendous effort from Goss in goal. Missed EMO opportunities (0 for 6?) and some rough turnovers down the stretch (including the one giving UVA the possession on which it scored the O...

Re: Cornell 2019

Wow, Penn State with 9 goals so far in just the 1st quarter (up 9-2 at 1Q mark. That was a ROUGH first quarter. For a while Cornell seemed to be airmailing passes 10 feet over teammates’ heads on every possession. Outshot 16-4. And Cornell swapped out goalies already.

Re: Yale 2019

It seems like the Yale-Michigan game will be streamed live on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaEqqGx ... IGxytnW5nr

No way of knowing what the video quality will be but good to have some way to see the game.

Re: Navy 2019

Excellent analysis as always, youth. Princeton has had a tough schedule so far and they have some talent; Sowers is one of the better attackmen Navy will face this year. With Navy's cohesive team defense and the strong play of the ssdms (shout out to old salt) I think they will be up to the challeng...

Re: Maryland 2019

Not a great day for the Terps' defense. I thought Dolan did alright but there were a few goals where I wondered if he was having some trouble with the lighting. While I hate to see the Terps lose, it's hard to feel this was a bad loss. Going out to Notre Dame was the toughest of the Terps out-of-co...

Re: Notre Dame 2019

What a game! Great job by the Fighting Irish. So many momentum swings but they hung tough in the face of a great two-minute, two-goal comeback by the Terps.

Re: Navy 2019

A day late here but wow, Navy looked impressive against Bucknell. They just SMOTHERED them. Five players with three points or more, led by Daniel with a 7-point day. Timely saves by Kern to keep Bucknell from ever making a game of it. Some garbage time turnovers and failed clears obscure a bit what ...

Re: Yale 2019

One other thing to be thankful about from yesterday’s game: that Jack Tigh appears to have emerged uninjured after a brutal blindside hit by UMass. Isaac Paparo, who made the hit, is an All-American caliber close defenseman but he had a similar hit last week against Harvard and could have ended some...

Re: Ivy League 2019

... if the Green don't win this, I'll doubt the veracity of all talk about Dartmouth improving. Feels more like January or February than March, which should suit a New Hampshire team just fine. Go Big Green! Frosh goalie with solid 78% save rate today GBG Told y’all he is the real deal! His dad pla...

Re: Yale 2019

Very happy for the team to escape with a win, and, once again, I'm impressed with the mental game to not give up when in a hole. Terrific stretch of lacrosse in the second half when Yale went on an 8-1 run. Nice inside game in the second half. Timely man down defense in overtime. But, as calourie sa...

Re: Yale 2019

The Bulldogs better be ready for a UMass team which is likely to bring their very best into a nearby rivalry grudge match. The Minutemen may not be great but they are well coached and tough and plenty capable if Yale hasn't moved on fully from their exhilarating win over Penn State. Couldn’t agree ...

Re: Yale 2019

The current iteration of the Yale program likes to chirp (as did the Brown team that made it to the Final Four in 2016). To a certain extent I think that maybe Ivy League squads need a bit of an edge. I also think these things are self-regulating to a certain extent; you live by the chirp, you die b...

Re: Cornell 2019

What a finish! February games help you find out who you are and what you have. Cornell is no one-man team and has impressive composure. They've got goaltending and at least one high-impact pole (Salvatore was outstanding). Nice win for the Big Red.

Re: Cornell 2019

Late in the third and Cornell has cut Lehigh's lead down to one-goal again. No shut-off of Teat. Bullen in goal seems pretty locked in now, and Cornell has had some beautiful assisted goals. Cornell clearing very well and the defense has come up with some very nice caused turnovers. The only real a...
