Re: ISL

The tiebreaker scenarios are really mentally painful to consider. That’s a product of the ISL no longer being a round robin in the regular season. Probably best to wait until the Saturday games have wrapped up.

Re: ivy league 2024

Ivy League fan here through and through. Reality is that the NCAA Tournament doesn't need more games. While the sport has grown exponentially over the past 20-30 years, the number of D1 teams has grown more modestly. Until the number of colleges and universities playing the sport increases signific...

Starting to think we get a logjam of teams at 7-4. likely finish at 7-4 Middlesex Nobles Milton Thayer RL Rivers Agreed. Good luck with that tiebreaker. Rivers/Tabor and Milton/Thayer big games Wednesday. No one wants to slip back to 5 losses I agree that is the outcome according to Vegas lines, bu...

Re: ivy league 2024

If it's important for whatever reason to have every conference represented, how about having 2 play-in games for the teams with the worst RPIs? Or even 3? Think of something else to call those games to avoid "expanding the tournment." Keep top 13 RPI teams. I might feel differently next y...

Off the top of my head, I can’t think of another team that went from #1 to out-of-the-tournament in six weeks.

BU had their number this year. It would have been fun to see Army in the big dance where anything could happen.

Re: Cornell 2024

I'm sorry, but these post season tournaments stink. It's ridiculous that a mediocre team can steal a bid with two good games on a neutral field with no fans that erases an entire season for other teams. It was a very exciting season for Cornell with some of the most memorable games I can remember. ...

Re: Brown 2024

Not sure if any Ivy would do that level of due diligence though! Due diligence is irrelevant. Optics are terrible, timing is terrible. IMO, zero chance JT gets even a look from Brown, unfair as that is. Respectfully, can you name one thing JT did wrong at Amherst that would support a foolish statem...

Let's keep it in the family! * Jon Thompson -- HC -- No brainer; perfect cultural fit; elite recruiter; will be there for 10-15 years * Larken Kemp -- DC -- MBA can wait; follow your passion; alums will kick in 10 rounds per year at Newport CC and 10 rounds per year at The CC; every HS pole in the c...

Acting like Brown is doing Benson a favor by calling....get out of here with that BS And a pleasant good morning to you, too, sir! Having a job offer — ideally at a better salary — is always a good thing in lacrosse coaching or any other profession. It’s amazing how quickly your current employer re...

Benson may have been one goal away last night from securing an offer from Brown. That would have been a heckuva resume stamp.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024

Of course, Brown is an attractive destination, but it has to play in a conference with HPY (arguably the three most attractive destinations in the country) and Cornell with its legendary lax history. And following Lars has to be a tough act. not trying to be offensive, but it is a solid job... It i...

Re: Brown 2024

So do we think the Brown AD has called John Thompson yet? Huge fan of JT. He would be an amazing fit for the program. The Amherst incident ultimately reflected poorly on the college president and not on Thompson. He had by far the best record in the NESCAC of recruiting young men of color to play f...

Re: Brown 2024

I have tickets for the game today, but will admit that if the noon result is unfavorable, my purchase may turn out to be just a contribution to the Harvard Athletic Department. Massey has the Bears as 4.5 point dogs, although in a game like this with so many criss-crossing story lines, it's hard to ...

Thanks for the excellent update, as always, Laxxal. I know that your analysis is widely distributed among the players and families. Two nail-biter games yesterday with Seb's and Milton winning in OT. Chris Merageas led the Arrows with 7 (!) goals to take over the ISL lead in that category. Milton we...

We are about to see a record set on the number of shots per game (current pace = 11.66), the number of missed shots per game (current pace = 9.4) and the lowest shooting % for someone with >100 shots (current pace = .193). This record-setting season has also seen the second most penalties on the tea...

Re: NESCAC

If Amherst and Midd are both bubble teams, that means they really are not looking forward to playing Trinity over the next two games. From the little I have seen of the Bants, they seem to be peaking at the right time. My impression is that the coaching staff gives the players a lot of leeway on the...

Re: ivy league 2024

Don't look now but the race for the Ivy League tournament is getting kind of interesting with Brown's upset of Princeton. Brown: currently 1-3, has beaten Princeton head-to-head, still with Dartmouth and Harvard to play. Harvard: currently 1-3, with Brown and Cornell still to play; Princeton: curre...
