Re: Ivy League 2019

Princeton (1-1) hosts #18 Hopkins (1-2) -- Tigers win 14-13. These teams have alternated wins over the past 5 years and the trend continues. Jays 14-9. Hopkins medical facilities can't handle the number of exploding heads in Baltimore if the Birds get plucked in this one. [/quote] JHU hospital bet ...

Re: Ivy League 2019

Two weeks to go until Ivy League play kicks off, but there are some great non-conference games before then. Here is a list of this weekend's games and some humble forecasts in this unpredictable spring. #3 Cornell (2-0) hosts Albany (1-1) -- Cornell prevails 14-10. Big Red's strategy of starting its...

Re: Harvard 2019

The HC FOGO got crazy hot down the stretch. Fun fact: He spends a ton of time working with the Harvard FOGO coach in the off season.

That is a real possibility. Princeton will seriously test the UVA D. Lars could feel some major heat if they drop to 1-3.

Re: Ivy League 2019

Ah, yes. How could I forget Cornell’s Sunday game? Big Red upends the short-staffed Lehigh squad 15-8.

Re: Ivy League 2019

I had good intentions of posting this before the Cornell/Hobart game tonight, but life and the day job interfered. Here are my forecasts for tomorrow's Ivy League action. I had Cornell as an 18-15 winner tonight, so I was off by a goal or two. (Pinocchio alert.) Penn State #2 (3-0) @ Yale #6 (0-1): ...

Re: Ivy League 2019

Thank you, TLD. Great stuff and much appreciated. I am a big admirer of what Coach Shay has built at Yale. I have weighed in before, however, on why the preseason #1 ranking was probably not deserved. You simply can't lose a transformational player like Reeves and expect to keep rolling. In fact, ov...

Re: Ivy League 2019

The most fascinating story line in the Ivies this year will be how teams handle Teat. He went wild in the first 2/3 of the season when he was guarded with a traditional defensive scheme. Once teams went to Shut Off Teat ("SOT"), however, things changed in a hurry. In the four games in whic...

Re: Inside Lacrosse Faceoff Yearbook 2019 Rankings

Unsportsmanlike conduct, number 69 on the defense, impersonating a teen-aged girl. Unsportsmanlike conduct, number 00 on the offense, taunting the chubby kid in gym class. Penalties offset, replay fourth down.

The Inside Lacrosse Ivy pre-season rankings were just released and provide some good bulletin board material. Brown State is projected to miss the ILT for the first time since 2014. https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/2019-face-off-yearbook-ivy-league-preseason-rankings-all-conference/53545 IL ex...

Re: Inside Lacrosse Faceoff Yearbook 2019 Rankings

I am a huge fan of what Yale accomplished last year, but I think a brake tap is in order here. Please remember that basically the same team that won in ‘18 went 10-6 the prior year. That included losses to Harvard, Bryant, Albany and UMass. It took that team two OTs to beat Fairfield at home and fou...

Re: Ivy League 2019

The Columbia weekend would be much fan-friendlier if the games were on Saturday and Sunday instead of Friday and Sunday. Getting to the stadium on Saturday is 10x easier on Saturday. These boys all played multiple games per day in tournaments all through high school. They can handle a 24+ hour turn ...

Re: ISL Lacrosse

Here is my crazy prediction of the fall. The catalyst for the ISL to finally tier boys lacrosse will be .... wait for it ... Dexter. That school has already catapulted themselves into a legit top 30 program in hockey and is on a mission to do the same in lacrosse. They now have arguably the best hom...

Re: Ivy League 2019

I would vote to give the Columbia venue another two years with one big change. Let's move the first games to Saturday morning with the finals on Sunday afternoon. If NHL players can skate on back to back nights, these boys can handle that too. They played multiple games per day throughout their club...

Re: Brown 2019

New assistants’ CVs now up at Brown’s website. No mention of areas of responsibility. No posting on Class of ‘22 yet. No fallball info. Another alumni game? Cannons? IDK. Mike Higgins is as solid a guy as you will meet in the lacrosse world. Smart, grounded, experienced and talented. This is a good...

Re: Brown 2019

There should be some optimism among the Brown State faithful for 2019. This is less about improvements in Camp Daly, but more about the rest of the league coming back to earth. Yale loses a once-in-a-generation player in Reeves. When you subtract 115 of your 437 points, you're facing some difficult ...
