Re: Cornell 2024

Long not playing, Caddigan on attack. Uggh. He just can't stay healthy. I don't see him on the bench in uniform either We can hope it's minor, and that he stayed behind to rest up. He is there in street clothes. Nothing obvious coming out to greet team on a play stoppage. 46 not playing either

Re: Cornell 2024

Princeton up 9-4 over Yale at the half. Yale has had some great comebacks, but who do we want to win?

Re: Cornell 2024

Concerning next year's fogo situation-- Melkonian won 17 of 18 faceoffs against a good Carey team, and is at 74% for the season.

Re: Cornell 2024

A few additional observations/comments from my initial post-game post: -I don't think I've ever seen a game with more 'in the crease' calls. The good news is that most of them were on Harvard (though Nikolic had a goal wiped out). -Something to clean up - Cornell lost 2 offensive possessions on 2 f...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024

I agree that Brandau is having a great year and is the favorite for the Tewaarton. As to Kirst, I'm not sure this is much of a factor in Tewaarton consideration, but those who have seen him regularly know that he is a very complete player. In addition to attributes that have already been mentioned h...

Re: Cornell 2024

Great effort BigRed. Knust saw the ball better in second half and defense improved. Offense just super. To state the obvious, Psyllos is just an amazing warrior. Not calling the push against Follows was a huge miss. And wish Goldstein had given the ball up. But if we continue to play at this level, ...

Re: Cornell 2024

Both defenses stiffened in the 2nd half. Carroll was fantastic— his most painful save being against Long 1 on 1. Tully did not seem to be seeing the ball early but came alive late and made some big stops. Poor Gilmartin—he has been having a great season, but slid to Shipley at the end, leaving Rubin...

Re: Cornell 2024

The high-production first-years (Goldstein and Nikolic) return to their home town of Philadelphia this weekend. Penn might be the toughest defense that Cornell has faced all year. Penn's games thus far have been relatively low scoring affairs. Goalie Emmet Carroll is saving an average of 60% of sho...

Re: Cornell 2024

Great team effort by Cornell against Yale. As an an aside, I was curious why the illegal stick call against Yale resulted in a 1 minute non-releaseable penalty rather than 3 minutes. If anybody else had the same question, here is an explanation for when an illegal stick penalty results in a 1 minute...

Re: Cornell 2024

Cornell midfield recruit, Will Burfeind, highlights against McDonough and Landon: https://www.hudl.com/profile/15810354/Will-Burfeind IL article on Haverford's win over #3 McDonough describes him as another Hugh Kelleher coming to Ithaca. He is somewhat of a late bloomer and his "star" rat...

Re: Cornell 2024

Rodriguez is a great fogo, and wins a lot to himself quickly with a variety of moves. Psyllos scraps and will have to keep the ball alive-- and be supported by better wing play. Hopefully, Davis will return and help both our ssdm and wing play.

Re: Cornell 2024

Defense has been a problem all season. Today, a very good Penn State team completely exposed us. In addition to the comments about sloppiness, poor communication, over aggressive sliding, here's what I see. This was a near total team defensive breakdown, but some vulnerabilities seemed particularly ...

Re: Cornell 2024

Great comments, VF, most of which I agree with. I am also looking forward to seeing Goldstein on the field. He has a great change of direction, plays with both hands and is very quick for the first several yards. However, his long speed is not as great, and I don't see him as a midfielder. Both man ...

Re: Cornell 2024

Often in a situation like this the other team can point to questionable calls that went against them. Can anybody think of a bad call that went against DU? If there was one, I'm guessing it was a 30 second push either called or missed. So while it's tempting to too often blame calls, this looked lik...

Re: Cornell 2024

Great report and analysis. In my mind, the best news is Long's return to health and form followed by Firth's unofficial debut and as a midfielder. Other highlights--improvement of the d mids with a freshman, Gilmartin, who can help; dominance facing off and improved wing play; solid defense despite ...

Re: Cornell 2024

Does anyone have any "inside" information as to where the Cornell - Notre Dame game will be played? It's listed as a neutral site location on the schedule. I heard LIU on Long Island. Also, Blake Cascadden decommits from Dartmouth and commits to Cornell. The Cascaddens will be in Ithaca f...
